Ling Feng gave Wang Laogen a sidelong glance, "What’s the matter, can’t a guy from the village be curious?"

"Speechless, can’t you at least care a little about your image?" Wang Laogen rolled his eyes.

Chen Yuhe looked at the old and the young, shaking her head helplessly.

They entered the banquet hall, an exceptionally large space, probably the size of half a soccer field.

Ling Feng surveyed the surroundings and couldn’t help but exclaim, "What a waste to leave such a huge place empty!"

"What would you do if it were yours?" Wang Laogen asked with ulterior motives.

"If it were mine, I’d fill it with tables and open a restaurant!"

Although the banquet hall was huge, there weren’t many people there, and it wasn’t clear if it was still early or if that was all the guests expected.

Wang Laogen was speechless, looking at him with resignation, "You really are trouble wherever you go, always stirring up incidents!"

Wang Laogen glared at him but didn’t move away, instead calling over a waiter and grabbing a drink from his tray.

After taking a big gulp, Wang Laogen finally said, "That kid is from the Chu Family, right?"

"Yeah, Old Wang, you know him too?" Ling Feng asked.

"Don’t know him, saw him once before, listen to me, don’t get into any trouble with them today," Wang Laogen said.

Ling Feng smiled, "That’s not up to me."

Upon hearing this, Wang Laogen understood his meaning and shook his head helplessly, "I really regret coming with you!"

"Really? Just now you said you could stay away from me," Ling Feng chuckled.

This time Wang Laogen didn’t respond, just furrowed his brows looking over at Chu Bo, clearly deep in thought.

At that moment, someone else came in through the entrance, instantly drawing everyone’s attention.

The reason being, the newcomer was also a beauty, dressed in a black evening gown that made her fair skin even more dazzling.

But upon seeing her face, Ling Feng was taken aback!

He hadn’t expected, just after the meeting had ended, to run into her here again!

Before Ling Feng could finish, Wang Laogen chuckled and interjected, "Just call me Old Wang!"

Joanna nodded politely and then turned to Chen Yuhe, "Miss Yuhe is so beautiful, just like your name, truly a blossoming lotus emerging from the water!"

Chen Yuhe blushed, "Thank you, you’re too kind."

After speaking, she looked at Ling Feng with a puzzled gaze, not understanding who this blonde beauty was.

"Joanna, a colleague from the security department, we just had a meeting together," Ling Feng explained.

Chen Yuhe suddenly understood and immediately smiled, "Miss Joanna speaks Mandarin so well!"

"Of course, I’ve been learning since I was born, so naturally, I’m good at it!" Joanna was used to it by now; whenever she met someone new, it was pretty much always the same comment.

"You three chat, I’ve spotted an old friend and I’m going to say hello."

Seeing Ling Feng surrounded by two beautiful women, Wang Laogen tactfully made his exit.

At that moment, Joanna asked, "Were you invited by Lin Huaqiang?"

"Yeah, you too, right? What’s your relationship with him?" Ling Feng curiously asked, hearing her call out Lin Huaqiang’s full name.

"Nothing in particular, just an acquaintance!" Joanna smiled.

Seeing that she didn’t want to elaborate, Ling Feng didn’t press further and simply nodded, "Oh, do you know what this evening’s banquet is for, then?"

"You don’t know?"

Joanna was somewhat surprised, and seeing the bitter smile on Ling Feng’s face, she reluctantly said, "Alright, tonight is a celebration of the successful cooperation between several major families."

"Cooperation? What did they do?" Ling Feng asked curiously.

"They took down an overseas consortium and secured the mining rights to an oil field."

Joanna spoke lightly, but Ling Feng was wide-eyed in amazement.

His own farming venture was nothing compared to this, as light as a feather.

But after his initial surprise, he didn’t dwell on it, thinking to himself, "Business matters, why call me here for nothing?"

While he was pondering, the guests in the banquet hall suddenly became noisy, and Ling Feng looked up to see Lin Huaqiang entering amidst the throngs of people.

Almost everyone immediately surrounded him to greet him. Ling Feng stood still and thought that he would find an opportunity to ask later on.

"Aren’t you going to say hello?" Joanna asked, seeing that Ling Feng hadn’t moved.

"I’m not a fan of crowded places," Ling Feng stated blandly.

A glint of intrigue flashed through Joanna’s eyes and she smiled slightly without saying anything further.

After greeting the crowd, Lin Hua’s gaze shifted toward Ling Feng, giving him a slight nod, but he didn’t approach and instead went to the center of the banquet hall.

"Let’s find a place to sit down, standing around can be quite tiring," Ling Feng suggested.

"Sure." Both Chen Yuhe and Joanna had no objections, and the three of them sat down at a table in the corner.

They had just sat down when a middle-aged man approached them, "Are you Ling Feng?"

Ling Feng looked up at the man, "Yes, that’s me. Are you from the Chu Family?"

Based on his guess, he thought the man might have come on behalf of Chu Bo to cause trouble.

But the man shook his head, "I’m from the Lu Family!"
