Chapter 386 The Only Clue
Just then, Lin Xue emerged from the inner room, yawning. Seeing everybody, she first paused, then her face turned slightly red with embarrassment, "Sorry guys, I overslept!"
"No worries, you got up just in time, thanks for chatting with me last night," Li Yun said with a smile.
Her words carried a double meaning, on one hand to spare Lin Xue from embarrassment, and on the other, to hint to the other girls that she had slept with Lin Xue the previous night.
However, none of the other women really cared. They chatted and laughed together as they prepared breakfast, which was complete with fried eggs and pickles.
While they were eating, Lin Xue’s phone buzzed. She took a look and handed it directly to Ling Feng, "The detailed information on that person."
"Alright!"
Ling Feng took the phone and reviewed it, noting the photo, exact address, mobile number, and areas of activity were all there, very meticulously recorded.
He handed the phone back to Lin Xue and turned to Mo Jiaolan, "I won’t be able to look after Yuhe today, could you stay and help out?"
"Sure!"
Mo Jiaolan already knew what he was planning to do, so she nodded earnestly.
After a moment’s hesitation, she added, "Should we tell Yuhe?"
"No, I’m afraid she might get too agitated. Let’s wait until we have some results before saying anything," Ling Feng shook his head.
When they mentioned Chen Yuhe, Li Yun remembered that she hadn’t seen her, and asked curiously, "By the way, where is she? Why isn’t she here for breakfast?"
All eyes turned to Ling Feng upon this question, curious to see how he would respond.
Ling Feng gave an awkward laugh and said to Li Yun, "She’s in another place, I’ll tell you about it when I get back."
"Oh, okay."
Reading the situation, Li Yun understood there were some things she wasn’t supposed to know.
And through observation, she could clearly see that each girl sitting around this table had a special relationship with Ling Feng, except for her.
After last night’s events, seeing this scene intensified the feeling of loss in her heart.
After breakfast, everyone started to get busy with their tasks. Ling Feng said to Li Yun, "Don’t go into the mountains today, let Shiyun and the others take care of anything that comes up."
Lin Xue had already shared the events of the previous night with Li Shiyun. Hearing Ling Feng, she immediately nodded, "Leave it to me, I can handle those people if they have any malicious intent!"
Li Yun looked distressed, "How could that be okay?"
"There’s nothing wrong with it. You just rest here today. Don’t answer your phone, just don’t worry about anything!" Ling Feng said with a laugh.
In a hurry, after making sure everything was arranged, he drove off with Lin Xue, leaving Shiliu Village and heading straight for the county town.
The man they were looking for was named Fu Xiaochuan, thirty-five years old, who appeared clean-cut in his photo, and worked as a mechanic.
According to Lin Xue’s investigation, this Fu Xiaochuan and the driver responsible for the accident were cousins, hence his taking of the money.
This was their only lead thus far, so Ling Feng took it very seriously. When driving, his knuckles on the steering wheel were turning white.
Seeing this, Lin Xue couldn’t help but reassure him, "Don’t be nervous, he won’t be able to escape, we’ll certainly find him!"
Ling Feng sped along in the car, his voice tense, "I’m just afraid something unexpected might happen, if anything happens to this guy, we’ll have no choice but to go abroad and look for Luo Qianyang!"
"That shouldn’t happen!"
Lin Xue herself wasn’t certain, so she could only offer words of comfort.
The formidable military vehicle roared along the road, driving a dozen kilometers from the county outskirts, before stopping in a small town.
There was just one street in the town, lined with various shops on both sides, one of them named Heji Truck Repairs, which was the destination of their trip.
The imposing military vehicle drew a lot of attention as it stopped, particularly from the people at the repair shop, who couldn’t help staring a little longer.
Ling Feng and Lin Xue got out of the car and saw a man covered in grease stains on his work clothes, his hands and face streaked with black, as if he had just finished repairing a car.
"Excuse me, is Fu Xiaochuan here?" Ling Feng asked.
The person was taken aback, "Who?"
"Fu Xiaochuan!" Ling Feng repeated, trying to keep his patience.
"Oh, he’s here. Who are you guys, and what do you want with him?" the person asked.
"Friends, just need to ask him something."
Upon hearing that the person was there, Ling Feng instantly felt relieved!
"Wait a moment, he’s in the back, I’ll go call him for you."
The person with a greasy face said this, wiped his hands on his clothes, and walked toward the back.
Ling Feng and Lin Xue waited in the front, and after five minutes without any movement, his heart suddenly skipped a beat!
"Damn it, could that guy be Fu Xiaochuan?"
"Ah? That’s possible!"
Lin Xue also suddenly realized this and was instantly confused.
"Damn it, playing me!"
Ling Feng became anxious in an instant, and he quickly rushed in, passing through the repair workshop, directly to the back!
There was a small courtyard with only two bungalows, and the rooms were empty, no one to be seen!
Indeed, the person excused himself to find someone but had actually run away!
Ling Feng’s eyes blazed with anger. Gritting his teeth, he scanned the surroundings and noticed that the courtyard wall was quite low, obviously where Fu Xiaochuan had escaped by jumping over it!
Therefore, he leapt up, landing directly on the roof, and looked around from the high vantage point!
Luckily, the terrain was somewhat elevated, and the entire small town along with the surrounding wilderness was visible. Ling Feng immediately spotted a figure running wildly outside the town. Even though the distance was quite far, he could still make out his dark clothing!
"Let’s see where you can run to!"
Ling Feng called out to Lin Xue down in the courtyard, "You take the car and head southeast, I’ll chase after him!"
Without waiting for Lin Xue to respond, he jumped down from the roof.
Lin Xue stamped her foot in frustration, "This idiot, I already said we’re taking the car, why run after him on foot?"
After saying that, she hurried back to the car, started it up, and upon pressing the accelerator, shot onto the highway.
Once at the street corner, she saw from afar two figures running across the wilderness, with Ling Feng already closing in on the man ahead. Lin Xue finally breathed a sigh of relief, "Good, he hasn’t gotten away."
Ling Feng moved swiftly, his feet seeming to barely touch the ground as he sprinted at high speed, and he quickly reached Fu Xiaochuan from behind.
The man in front, thinking he had run far enough that nobody could catch up, felt his soul scatter in terror when he heard a noise behind him and turned to look. He was so frightened that his legs gave out, and he fell flat on the ground.
Ling Feng halted and looked into his eyes, "Kid, you’re Fu Xiaochuan, aren’t you?"
"I, I’m not!"
"If it’s not you, why did you run? Speak the truth fast, or you’ll regret it!" Ling Feng’s temper flared as he drew the God Slayer Saber!
Fu Xiaochuan immediately burst into tears, frantically waving his hands, "No, please don’t kill me, I’ll give you the money, but there really isn’t much left, only a hundred thousand!"

Ling Feng glared at him and exclaimed angrily, "I’m not here for your money, stop imagining things!"
