Chapter 373: Taking Over the Mo Stone Mine
Ling Feng looked at the two family members, "I’ve helped as much as I can for now, If a cure can be found in the future, I’ll help you then."
"Thank you so much!"
"Such a good person!"
The two relatives looked grateful as they accepted the medicinal pills, and then asked for Ling Feng’s phone number, planning to consult with him later.
Ling Feng didn’t withhold it; they were dealing with a patient after all, and it was all too common for a family to spend their entire fortune on such an illness. It certainly wasn’t easy.
Turning back to look at the girl on the hospital bed, he then said to Du Song and his mother, "You should discharge her and take her home for a slow recovery."
Having understood the situation, Du Song realized that if treatment continued here, patients from other wards would soon flock to Ling Feng for help. It was not that he was incapable, but it would be impossible to manage if there were too many people!
Despite it being somewhat inhumane, faced with his sister’s situation, Du Song chose to act on self-interest and nodded, "Okay, I’ll go and handle the discharge procedures now!"
Half an hour later, Lin Xue arrived in her car at the hospital entrance, just in time to see Du Song carrying his sister downstairs.
"Where are we going?"
After understanding the situation, Lin Xue swiftly took on the role of the driver without hesitation.
After some thought, Ling Feng knew it wouldn’t work to go back to Shiliu Village; it was too far, and his own home wasn’t convenient either. So he pondered for a moment, "I’ll call Jiaolan, we might have to go to her hotel if that’s okay."
"Boss, can’t we go home?" asked Du Song.
"It’s not convenient to go home. Your sister needs care, and it’s better to go somewhere I’m familiar with," Ling Feng replied.
"Okay then, thanks, Boss," Du Song said, full of gratitude.
Ling Feng rolled his eyes at him and then dialed Mo Jiaolan’s number.
After explaining the situation, Mo Jiaolan didn’t hesitate and agreed immediately.
They found another taxi, and the group took off in two cars straight for the hotel, arriving in just over ten minutes.
Once out of the car, Du Song’s mother looked at Ling Feng in astonishment, "We’re, we’re coming here?"
"Yes, Auntie, what’s the matter?" replied Ling Feng.
There was a strange expression on Du Song’s mother’s face, "I work here."
"What?"
Ling Feng was taken aback, eyes widening in surprise, "How come I’ve never seen you before?"
"I’ve only been here for half a month, and I’ve been helping out in the kitchen," she explained.
Ling Feng couldn’t help but laugh, thinking how small the world was!
So he immediately said, "That’s even better then, with your sister here, you can take care of her easily, right?"
"But, wouldn’t this bother President Mo too much..." Du Song’s mother said hesitantly.
"Don’t worry, Jiaolan is my friend. Stop overthinking it, let’s go upstairs!" Ling Feng reassured her.
Once they reached the upstairs office, Mo Jiaolan had already tidied up the rest area. Seeing the sleeping little girl being carried in, she hurriedly said, "Just put her here, what happened to the child?"
"Leukemia. My medicine can only relieve her symptoms, but curing her will require some effort," said Ling Feng.
Mo Jiaolan nodded, "Okay, she can stay here then."
Ling Feng saw no need for pleasantries and nodded to Du Song and his mother, "Let her sleep for now. After she wakes up, we’ll see how she’s doing and then decide on the treatment."
"Alright, we’ll do as you say!"
After everyone was settled, Lin Xue suddenly spoke, "You’re free for the time being, right?"
Ling Feng looked back at her, "Yes, why do you ask?"
"Then come with me for a bit. The leader wants to see you."
She had wanted to mention it earlier, but the matter with the girl had delayed her. Now she finally had the chance.
Looking at her expression, Ling Feng understood and nodded, "Okay, the child hasn’t woken up yet, so let’s go."
Du Song and the others stayed behind to look after the children, while Ling Feng and Lin Xue went downstairs.
After getting into the car, Ling Feng asked, "Is it about the Mo Stone Mine?"
"Yes, the director wants to ask you in person," Lin Xue nodded.
"Then let’s go and see what the outcome will be," Ling Feng said with a smile.
The journey was silent, and soon they arrived at Longyuan. Upon entering, they saw Chen Ping sitting in a chair waiting for them.
When he saw them arrive, Chen Ping immediately stood up, "Why have you only just arrived? You’ve delayed so long."
"Had some things to sort out, why is the director in such a hurry?" Ling Feng said with a smile.
"How can I not be in a hurry? Lin Xue told me about the Mo Stone, and this is a big deal!"
Chen Ping glared at him and then said, "Come with me, someone wants to talk to you!"
Ling Feng was stunned, "Who?"
"A senior leader, who am I to disclose this to you?" Chen Ping replied, then went straight downstairs to the basement.
Ling Feng and Lin Xue followed behind. Upon entering the conference room downstairs, there was someone already waiting on the screen.
An man over sixty years old, with a clear and emaciated face, his eyes sharp as lightning.
"This is our chief director of the General Bureau, Director Han Wancheng," Chen Ping introduced.
Ling Feng was startled and quickly gave a somewhat awkward military salute, "Director, good to meet you!"
"Sit down, Ling Feng, I’ve reviewed your profile."
Director Han’s voice was deep. He set aside the material he had been holding and glanced at Ling Feng, "We won’t pry into your secrets, but regarding the matter of the Mo Stone, we need a detailed explanation from you."
Ling Feng smiled, "It’s not easy to explain, but I have a way to turn it from ore into Spirit Stones, and it won’t take too much time."
"This is no joking matter, how many Spirit Stones can you produce?" Director Han asked.
"I haven’t conducted many experiments, but I should be able to create as many Spirit Stones as there are Mo Stones," Ling Feng said.
Director Han’s brows furrowed, the significance of the matter clear from his expression alone.
Moreover, to have the chief director involve himself showed the high level of importance the authorities placed on this matter.
After pondering for a moment, Director Han asked, "You can’t disclose your method?"
"Indeed, I can’t, please understand, leader!"
Ling Feng smiled bitterly; his Nine Heavens secret wasn’t that it couldn’t be shared—after all, others couldn’t teleport there even if they knew about it!
But if outsiders learned of this, he would certainly face a lot of unnecessary trouble!
"If that’s the case..."
Director Han was still thinking and hadn’t made a decision, so he paused before saying, "Then the Mo Stone Mine in Shiliu Village will be handed over to you for development!"
Ling Feng smiled.
The first face that flashed in his mind upon hearing this was that of Luo Nanlin’s. If the old man knew his business was being taken over, his expression would certainly be quite the spectacle!
Of course, Director Han was unaware of the grudge between Ling Feng and Luo Nanlin, as he continued, "As for your compensation..."
He didn’t finish his sentence before Ling Feng promptly interrupted, "There’s no rush about the compensation. I can’t mine alone, so how about this: I’ll collaborate with the Luo family. They handle the mining and I take charge of the purification, settling the costs with them myself!"
"Sounds good!"
Director Han nodded in agreement, effectively giving his approval on the spot.
Once the video conference was over and they were back upstairs, Lin Xue couldn’t help but whisper in Ling Feng’s ear, "What are you up to?"
"I want to see the look on Luo Nanlin’s face when he has to smile and play nice with me!" Ling Feng said with a laugh.
