Chapter 366 Watching the Boxing Match
After the sumptuous dinner, Ling Feng paid the bill with his card, and then the four of them stepped outside the restaurant.
The night streets were still noisy. Seeing the look in Du Song and He Bing’s eyes, Ling Feng smiled, "Alright, you guys are free to do as you like now. Do you both have money on you?"
"We do, thank you, boss. We’re off, then. We’ll definitely report in tomorrow morning!" Du Song said with a big grin on his face.
"Got it, dare to be late and see what happens!" Ling Feng said with a laugh.
He watched the two walk off, high-spirited, before turning his head to Lin Xue, "Those two kids are so excited. They’re not off to do something bad, are they?"
Lin Xue gave him a glance, "How should I know?"
Ling Feng chuckled and wrapped his arm around her slender waist, "Alright, now we can do whatever we want. Where do you want to go?"
"Nowhere in particular!" Lin Xue pouted.
Seeing her say this, Ling Feng smirked, "That’s perfect, because I feel the same way. Let’s head back to the hotel and get some rest early."
Lin Xue of course got his hint, so she paused her step, "I suddenly feel like watching a movie."
"Hmm?"
Ling Feng turned to look at her and seeing the smile on her lips, he knew she had guessed his intentions, so he asked, "What, are you scared?"
"Who said that? I really do want to watch a movie!" Lin Xue twisted her body and whined playfully.
"Alright, let’s go watch a movie, then!"
Ling Feng smiled and, with his arm around her, they headed towards the streets.
As they walked, he murmured to himself, "After the movie, have some midnight snacks, and by the time we get back to the hotel, it would be midnight, with still half the night left..."
"When we get back, take a nice bath, relax a bit, and then..."
Lin Xue had been quiet all along, but she couldn’t help it anymore and stopped to look at him, "If you’re in such a hurry, then we might as well go back now!"
Ling Feng, oblivious to her hint, asked excitedly, "Really?"
But one look at her face told him the girl was irritated, so he quickly chuckled awkwardly, "There’s no rush. What’s there to be hasty about? We have a long night ahead of us, and I should accompany you for a walk!"
"Hmph!"
Knowing he wasn’t being sincere, Lin Xue didn’t give him a pleasant look and turned her head away, pretending to be angry.
Seeing this, Ling Feng had no choice but to hold the girl in his arms tighter, "Aiyah, such a little girl who loves to get angry. If you don’t like it, then I’ll start keeping quiet from now on!"
"Then keep quiet!"
Lin Xue said and tried to break free from his embrace and walk ahead, but Ling Feng quickly followed, "What movie do you want to watch?"
"Whatever!"
"A comedy?"
"Whatever!"
"An action movie?"
"Whatever!"
The two of them continued on, one eager to please, the other pretending to be miffed, and it was rather amusing.
When they arrived at the cinema entrance, they found out the next screening would be in an hour, and there wasn’t really anything worth watching that day, causing Lin Xue to sigh.
Turning to look at Ling Feng, she had no choice but to say, "Fine, let’s go back to the hotel."
"Don’t you have any other interests? If not the movies, we could do something else!" Ling Feng said.
Lin Xue thought hard for a moment before shaking her head, "No, apart from fighting and shooting, I don’t have any other interests."
"Oh, is there a shooting range in the provincial city?" Ling Feng asked.
"There is one, but it’s only open during the day, closed at night!" Lin Xue shook her head.
Ling Feng hoped she could have a good time, so he continued to ask, "What about fighting? There must be some gym or something that has it, right?"
At that, Lin Xue’s eyes lit up: "Oh? I actually do remember a place!"
"Really? Where?" Ling Feng asked.
"It’s an underground fighting ring, where people go to box illegally. Spectators can bet and buy tickets!" Lin Xue’s eyes shone brightly, clearly excited.
Seeing her like this, Ling Feng was somewhat speechless: "You sure have some unique hobbies, knowing about this kind of place?"
"I used to be a police officer in the provincial city, and we raided that place once, but I know that these kinds of lucrative businesses won’t stop after just one penalty. They’ll definitely start up again!" Lin Xue said with her head held high.
Seeing her so passionate, Ling Feng smiled: "Alright then, let’s go take a look. Maybe there’s a boxing match we can watch tonight!"
"Really? You’re willing to go with me?" Lin Xue asked.
"Of course, as long as you’re happy, I’m up for anything!" Ling Feng laughed.
Lin Xue gave him a sidelong glance, and although she felt sweet inside, she couldn’t help but say: "Smooth talker!"
Returning to where they had parked, the two made their way through the streets and soon arrived in the suburbs.
Afterward, Lin Xue stopped the car: "We’ll have to walk from here. They know my license plate, and if they see it, they probably won’t let us in!"
Ling Feng chuckled wryly: "They won’t remember your face, will they?"
"It doesn’t matter if they do. I’ve got this!"
Lin Xue was slightly proud as she took a black mask out of the glove compartment, brandishing it with a sense of accomplishment.
"You’re really well-prepared!"
Ling Feng praised her, and they both got out of the car, walking down a lane.
After passing through the alley, they arrived on another street where, indeed, a few idling individuals stood by the road, some leaning against the wall, others squatting on the ground, all holding cigarettes and looking utterly bored.
"Are these lookouts?" Ling Feng asked in a low voice.
"Yeah, they’re scared of police raids. After all, the betting amounts for a single night can reach millions. If the fight gets stopped, that’s a huge loss!" Lin Xue nodded.
The two walked and whispered to each other, appearing to be just a couple to onlookers and not drawing attention.
But Lin Xue still clung to Ling Feng’s arm and approached one of the men, asking, "Hey, buying tickets!"
The man was taken aback, looking at her and then at Ling Feng: "What tickets?"
"Stop pretending—tickets for the boxing match. I’ve been here before!" Lin Xue said.
Despite her words, the man was still suspicious, eyeing Lin Xue: "A girl like you watching boxing matches?"
"I’m also a taekwondo black belt, why can’t I like it?" Lin Xue asked.
Hearing her say that, he finally relaxed his guard, fishing out two pale yellow plastic tokens from his pocket: "One hundred each!"
Ling Feng hadn’t expected these tokens to be the tickets. He reached into his pocket, pulled out two hundred bucks, and handed them over.
Lin Xue took the two plastic tokens: "Do we still enter from the usual place?"
"That’s right, go ahead!"
Now the man truly believed that she had been there before, and he nodded.
The two walked a few dozen meters forward, where there was a dark little alley by the roadside, and Lin Xue pulled him into it.
The alley was narrow and dark, and after walking more than ten meters, a metal door appeared to the side. Lin Xue knocked on it.
There was a very small window in the metal door that suddenly opened, and a pair of eyes looked out at them warily.
"The tickets are here!" Lin Xue raised her hand, showing off the tokens.
