Chapter 67 - Leaving In A Few Hours?!
Theo locked eyes with the man for a moment.
Then his gaze shifted across the office.
’’If I use my lightning spells here, I’m afraid I’ll destroy the room,’’ he said.
The man let out a faint chuckle, shaking his head.
’’Don’t worry about the room,’’ he said casually. ’’As you saw earlier, my chaos element will keep everything contained.’’
Theo’s eyes widened slightly.
’So that was the chaos element...’
It made sense now.
The fireball had vanished into thin air just before hitting him, only to reappear right behind the man.
’How interesting.’
Without hesitating any further, Theo raised a hand.
A yellow thunderbolt formed within a second, crackling loudly.
The man’s smile widened, his eyes locked on Theo with much interest.
In an instant, the lightning bolt shot through the air towards the man.
He didn’t move, though.
Instead, he simply flicked his fingers.
The lightning bolt slowed down mid-air, its speed dropping until it barely moved at all.
’’What?’’ Theo muttered, disbelief creeping into his voice. ’’It... slowed down?’’
The man casually walked up to the suspended lightning.
He picked up a cup from the table and pressed his lips together slightly, as if thinking.
Then, he moved the cup through the lightning.
As it disintegrated in an instant, his smile widened.
’’Now that is something else,’’ the man said, nodding to himself.
After a moment, he turned back to Theo and Owen with a smile.
’’I’ve seen enough,’’ he said. ’’Prepare to leave before tonight.’’
He clapped his hands together, a large fire swallowing the thunderbolt instantly.
With that, he walked back to his seat.
Owen, on the other hand, looked at him in confusion.
’’Hey man, what about me?’’ he asked, frowning.
The man paused for a moment, raising an eyebrow.
’’My name is Adrian Vos,’’ he said, before casually waving his hand.
’’As for you... I can’t test you even if I wanted to.’’
Owen’s expression changed, despite knowing full well what he meant.
As long as that rock sphere sat around his core, there was no way for him to use his mana.
’’If you can’t keep up,’’ the man added calmly. ’’You’ll get kicked out anyway.’’
The room fell silent for a moment.
Owen clenched his jaw slightly but didn’t say anything else.
Theo, on the other hand, kept his eyes on Adrian.
’Chaos element.’
There was no pattern to it, nothing to see or even to predict.
It redirected spells, slowed them down, and who knows what more.
’That’s really troublesome.’
’If someone with that element wanted to kill me... there’s no way I’ll come out alive.’
His expression darkened slightly, but he wasn’t annoyed.
On the contrary, he was glad he had realized it this early, when it wasn’t life-threatening.
Just then, Adrian continued.
’’Go pack your stuff now,’’ he said. ’’We’ll be leaving in a few hours.’’
Theo and Owen looked at each other for a moment.
’’That fast?’’ Owen muttered.
Adrian nodded once.
Theo turned without another word and walked toward the door, Owen following right behind him.
The moment they stepped outside, the pressure from the room vanished.
Owen leaned forward, letting out a long sigh.
’’That fast, huh...’’ he muttered, turning to Theo.
Then, a grin slowly spread across his face.
’’Guess you’ll have to say goodbye to your girlfriend.’’
Theo stiffened immediately.
’’Oh... shit.’’
Owen blinked, raising an eyebrow.
’’Wait, don’t tell me you actually forgot?’’
Theo ran a hand through his hair, biting the inside of his lip.
Owen stared at him for a second.
Then—
He burst out laughing.
’’Nice one,’’ he said, patting him on his back. ’’I’m sure she’s going to be super happy.’’
’’Yeah...’’ Theo responded, wincing at the thought.
They continued walking down the street, their conversation slowly fading.
Without hesitation, Theo pulled out his phone.
’I knew I forgot something these past few days.’
His expression remained stiff as he quickly typed out a message and hit send.
’Let’s hope she can meet up in time...’
For a moment, his gaze lingered on the screen.
Then he lowered it again.
The main reason he had completely forgotten about it was because he had been researching the pre-admissions for Westridge.
’Maybe I shouldn’t have been so hyper-focused on it...’
But it had given him some valuable information.
Only a small number of people were invited each year.
Most came from powerful, wealthy families, who seemed to treat the school more as a place to build connections.
The others...
Were people with monster-like talent.
’I fit into that category,’ he thought, glancing up at the sky. ’But at least there’s one benefit to all of this...’
With people like that gathering in one place, the rewards were bound to be massive.
And it was the same for training.
The teachers at Westridge were all incredibly strong and experienced.Yet such individuals were going to give one-on-one training to those with a similar element.
’I might even walk out of there with more than just a few spells.’
Just then, his phone vibrated.
He stopped immediately, his eyes locking onto the screen.
Iris had responded to his text, pinpointing a fancy brasserie in the city.
’Good,’ he thought, exhaling quietly.
Without another thought, he said goodbye to Owen and turned around.
Owen couldn’t help but laugh as he saw Theo speed up his pace.
Theo quickly made his way through the crowded streets, his gaze flickering between his phone and the path ahead.
’What am I even going to say?’ he questioned himself.
’Not only did I not tell her about the university... I also completely forgot to go on a date with her.’
It didn’t take long before the brasserie came into view.
The building stood out immediately, with refined colors and expensive plants placed around it.
Even a single glance at the chairs made the place feel luxurious.
Theo slowed his steps for a moment.
’Of course she picked a place like this...’
Without hesitating any further, he pushed the door open and stepped inside.
Their eyes immediately met.
Theo froze for a split second.
’This... might not go as smoothly as I thought.’
