The Lady's Butler: I Reincarnated To Serve The Villainess

Chapter 80: An Earth Golem

"Your token," the candidate said with relaxed smile on his face, "surrender it."

Conan looked at the candidate for a while before looking down at the point counter in his hand before asking, "why?"

"Why?" The candidate let out a chuckle, seemingly amused by the question, "well, since you’re going to be disqualified soon, I might as well tell you."

Conan silently listened to the candidate speak.

"You see, although the academy has a certain number of points candidates must gather to get admitted, " he started, "the amount of points is not fixed and the more candidates apply for the entrance test, the higher the point, but what happens if the amount of students are less than a certain number?"

"Then the number of require points reduces," Conan answered.

"Bingo!" The boy said with a grin, "and the easiest way to ensure I make it in... is to reduce the competition."

"If I break your token, you’re out. Take your token," he tapped his own device lightly, "and your points become mine."

"Decision, decisions," he continued, "what option do you think I should should go with

"You still need enough points to qualify even if the required points is lessened," Conan spoke up again, still remaining calm, "so you’ll probably try taking my token."

"That’s right," the boy continued, clearly pleased with himself, "I don’t need to fight beasts all day like an idiot. I just need to hunt the ones who already did the work."

Conan slowly looked at him as a small smile crept onto his face.

"So," he said, "you waited until I finished my fight, figured I’d be tired, and decided to jump me."

"A genius move, right?" the boy replied without shame.

Conan nodded in agreement, "of course."

A brief silence followed before he continued.

"Unfortunately," he added, removing one hand from his pocket, "you made one tiny mistake."

"Oh really?" The boy asked, amusement evident in his voice, "and what’s that?"

Instead of answering right away, Conan’s white hair suddenly turned back to brown but his eyes turned golden and arcs of lightning could be seen within.

{Lightning module activated}

"What makes you think I’m tired?" He finally asked with a grin.

"A feature change magic tool?" The boy asked in confusion, "how is that going to help you?"

"You’ll find out soon enough," Conan answered, the grin still on his face.

"I see," the boy nodded, "then am I to assume that you won’t willingly hand your token over?"

"What do you think?" Conan asked.

"Since you didn’t accept my mercy," the boy started as the ground beneath his feet started trembling, "don’t blame me for what happens next."

Behind him, the terrain started rising taking a humanoid shape that was at least thrice Conan’s size.

[Earth Golem]

The golem was made entirely of hardened earth, with large cracks running all along its surface. Said cracks had glowing visible mana running within.

The golem’s empty eye sockets suddenly lit up with a dull amber glow and the moment it was fully formed, the amber eyes locked on to Conan.

ROAR!

It let out a loud roar and without hesitation, it moved towards him with speeds unfitting for a construct of that size.

"Maybe you just need a bit of convincing to hand your token over," the boy said with a smile as he watched his golem rush to attack, "I hope my golem’s fists will be convincing enough."

He wasn’t too worried about Conan trying to stop the golem with his ice attacks for two reasons.

One, the boy was certain that [Ice Rain] had drained most of his mana, so he’ll only be using low level attacks to save whatever remained.

And two, the golem was filled with enough mana to be able to resist being completely frozen, and even if a part of it got frozen, then it could just be replaced,

After all, they were literally surrounded by earth.

"This will be easy," was what he said, but the next second,

BOOM!

The golem’s fist slammed into the position where Conan previous stood, raising a cloud of dust that covered both it and it’s target.

"Hahaha," the boy laughed, "now then, are you still unwilling to hand over your token?"

There was silence for a while, before an unexpected voice answered.

"Nah," Conan’s voice came from within the dust cloud, "but I don’t think you should be talking so big right now, after all,"

There was a small pause as the dust cleared up, causing the boy’s eyes to widen as he spotted Conan sitting calmly on a pile of rocks.

Rocks that were previously his golem.

"H-how is that possible?" the boy’s expression immediately changed to one of disbelief.

"I could show you," Conan answered with a grin on his face.

"Damn it," the boy cursed as he lifted his hand, the next second a large earth spike suddenly appeared where Conan was sitting.

But he was completely gone, causing the attack to only hit air.

"Missed," Conan’s voice came from behind him, causing him to immediately turn around.

The boy spotted arcs of lightning all around Conan’s body, causing his eyes to widen.

"W-What the?!" he stammered, his voice trembling, "y-you were using ice just a second ago!"

"Shocked?" Conan asked with a chuckle before actually answering, "I just decided that lightning was more fitting for this situation."

"That’s not possible... apart from the Saintess, no one else can use multiple elements!"

"And yet, here I am," Conan simply replied with a smile, "now then, for your punishment."

"W-wait," the boy said, lifting both hands, "I-I made a mistake, so p-please just let me go, I promise I won’t try to take any more tokens."

He suddenly stumbled on one of the rocks which caused him to fall on his ass.

"No," Conan simply said, causing the color to drain from his face for a second, but the next words gave him a bit of hope.

"But don’t worry," he added, stopping in front of him, "I’m not destroying your token."

"Huh?" Confusion immediately replaced the fear he previously felt, "you’re not?"

Conan crouched slightly, resting his arm on his knee.

"Of course not," he shook his head, with a smile on his face, "after all, I still have use for you."

"A-as long as you won’t destroy my token," a glimmer of hope appeared on

The boy’s face, "I’m willing to do anything."

....

He was going to regret his words pretty soon.
