Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Did She Stumble into a Nest of BOSSES or What!
The door closed behind her with a soft sound, completely sealing Ling Xi off from the outside world.
She listened to Scarlet Moon’s footsteps fade into the distance, and only then did that invisible pressure truly recede.
Control of her body returned to her own hands.
Ling Xi quickly walked to the bedside and picked up that rice-white nightdress.
She changed into it at once, then slipped under the covers and wrapped herself up completely.
The exhaustion in her body came flooding in like a tide, and the string in her mind had also been stretched to its limit by the confrontation just now.
The soft mattress and warm bedding kept luring her consciousness downward.
“No, I can’t sleep…”
She warned herself.
“I have to figure this out first. What exactly is going on right now…”
But her brain was already growing sluggish, and her eyelids were so heavy she could not lift them.
In the end, drowsiness defeated everything.
……
Ling Xi’s memories returned to the game from before.
The world of Era of the Divine Throne rebuilt itself in her mind.
Aside from the Demon King Scarlet Moon, there were other BOSSES in the game whom she had once defeated.
Act One.
[Dragon’s Wings].
The cold wind pierced through the thin nightdress, bringing a sharp, vivid sensation.
Ling Xi discovered that she was standing atop a precipitous mountain peak, surrounded on all sides by a sea of clouds so deep it could not be seen through.
This was the home ground of the overlord of the skies.
A sharp cry tinged with mockery tore through the sky.
A crimson shadow dived down from the clouds, then stopped abruptly in midair and hovered before Ling Xi.
The newcomer was a petite girl, yet she gave off a savage aura wholly mismatched with her size.
Her eye-catching red long hair was tied into high twin tails, wildly dancing in the fierce winds at the summit.
She wore a boldly cut short battle armor made of dark red leather, barely covering her chest and waist.
On her lower body was an ultra-short pair of shorts made of the same material, with strips of leather hanging loosely from her waist.
At that moment, she was flapping the dragon wings on her back, stirring gust after gust of air.
The way she looked at Ling Xi was one of undisguised disdain.
The wyvern girl, Luo Long.
She grinned, revealing a pair of sharp little canine teeth.
“Well, well, isn’t this the great hero who dragged me down from the sky?”
Luo Long flipped a somersault in the air.
“How come you looked so weak, so pitiful, so helpless today?”
Ling Xi took a step back. Because of the cold, she was hugging herself tightly.
“Aha, look at you trembling like that. You could barely even stand steady.”
With a beat of her wings, her figure vanished in an instant.
The next moment, a tremendous impact struck from behind, and Ling Xi was sent pitching forward.
Her hands and knees slammed heavily against the ground, and the rough rock surface scraped her skin open.
Before she could even react, Luo Long’s foot had already stepped onto her back.
“Hey, hey, was that all?”
“Where had all that swagger gone from when you knocked me out of the sky before?”
Luo Long’s voice came from above her head, thick with mockery.
She bent down, grabbed Ling Xi’s silver-white long hair, and forced her to lift her head.
“There wasn’t even the slightest resistance. What a disappointment.”
She straightened up, withdrew her foot, then lightly nudged Ling Xi’s arm with the tip of her shoe instead.
“Trash fish~”
Act Two [Moonlit Cage]
Ling Xi discovered that she was kneeling on a spotless white marble floor.
All around her stood rows of carved stone pillars.
The enormous stained-glass windows filtered the cold moonlight into patches of brilliant color, casting them across the floor.
The sound of bells rang out from afar, one toll after another.
This was the sanctuary, the place where she had once defeated the second BOSS.
“Lost sinner, why did you tremble here?”
A gentle voice came from ahead.
Ling Xi raised her head.
In the place where the moonlight was most concentrated, a tall figure was standing there quietly.
She wore an elaborate pure white robe of the clergy, with sacred emblems embroidered in golden thread along the hem and cuffs.
Her smooth golden long hair fell straight to her waist.
A cross hung over her chest, and at that moment it was giving off a gentle glow.
The Fallen Saintess, Yue Qi.
In the game, she was known for her powerful healing and divine punishment spells.
At that moment, in Yue Qi’s sky-blue eyes, there was only a kind of lofty scrutiny.
“Raise your head and let me have a look at you.”
Ling Xi’s chin was lifted by an invisible force, forcing her to meet Yue Qi’s gaze.
“You still remembered this place, did you not? Sinner.”
Yue Qi slowly walked up to her.
“Last time, you defiled this place with the most despicable means and toppled the cornerstone of faith.”
“I had never seen such cunning and blasphemous tactics.”
She extended one finger and lightly traced it across Ling Xi’s cheek.
A cold touch came over her, making Ling Xi’s body tremble slightly.
“What a perfect shell, pure and flawless.”
Yet Yue Qi’s fingertip slid downward along Ling Xi’s jawline, finally stopping at her neck.
“But the soul inside carries a sense of discord.”
Yue Qi’s finger pressed lightly, and Ling Xi immediately felt a force constricting her breath.
“It is resisting, struggling, refusing to merge with this body.”
“Just like your behavior last time, that was a desire to disrupt order.”
Yue Qi withdrew her hand and instead lightly tapped the top of Ling Xi’s head with the holy scripture in her hand.
“It seemed that you still had not fully accepted your own soul.”
A holy smile appeared on Yue Qi’s face, yet it made Ling Xi feel a chill rise from the bottom of her heart.
“But that’s all right. I will make you properly fall in love with your body.”
Act Three [Sweet Desire Cage]
The surroundings became warm and soft.
Ling Xi discovered that she was lying on her side on an absurdly large bed. The bedsheet beneath her was made of silk, so smooth that it made her skin itch slightly.
A sweetness hung in the air, so rich it could make a person’s bones go weak.
Light purple gauze draped down from the bed canopy, turning the light from outside hazy and dim.
“You’re awake? My lovely little guest.”
A smiling voice rang out beside her ear.
Ling Xi turned her head and saw a figure lying at her side, propping up her cheek with one hand.
Long cherry-pink curly hair was spread across the purple pillow.
Amid the strands of hair, a pair of small, smooth black horns protruded.
The other party had a pair of purple eyes, and the shape of her pupils was very unusual. She was examining Ling Xi with curiosity.
Succubus—Karina
“Oh my, don’t look at me with those eyes.”
“You weren’t like this before.”
“You always kept a straight face. No matter what I did, the door to your heart was shut tight.”
As Karina spoke, she leaned a little closer.
“But now, you smell so sweet.”
Ling Xi wanted to retreat, but her body was limp and weak, unable to gather any strength.
Her gaze passed over Karina’s shoulder and saw a long, slender black tail extending from behind her.
The tip of the tail was a standard heart shape, and at that moment it was leisurely swaying left and right in the air with a steady rhythm.
“The last time we met, you left this place in a terrible mess. What a rough child you were.”
“But now, you no longer even had the strength to stand. You were truly pitifully lovable.”
Karina withdrew her hand and rolled over to sit up.
She wore only a thin purple gauze dress, and the graceful curves of her body appeared and disappeared under the hazy light.
“You look tired and thirsty.”
“Would you like to try the special drink I prepared for you?”
“I guarantee that after you drink it, you will forget all your troubles and only want to stay here, keeping me company forever.”
Karina smiled and conjured a goblet filled with a dark red liquid out of thin air.
“Come, open your mouth.”
