Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Your Body, I Know It Very Well
“What?” Ling Xi’s heart sank.
“How is that possible? How did she know?”
“What are you thinking about? Your expression is very interesting.”
Ling Xi’s heart pounded violently in her chest.
How did she know?
That realization sent a chill down her spine.
After saying that, she revealed a bright smile.
Ling Xi only felt a chill creeping into her heart.
Just then, the sky gradually darkened.
Ling Xi only felt a wave of drowsiness sweep over her.
Her eyelids were so heavy that she could not lift them, and the energy in her body had already been completely drained during that brief escape just now.
What she felt now was like an electronic device whose battery had run out, automatically entering sleep mode.
“So sleepy…”
Scarlet Moon, seated upon the throne, propped up her chin with one hand as she observed Ling Xi’s swaying, unsteady posture.
“Oh my, it seemed this little one’s body could not support long periods of activity.”
“Was it because there was no magic power supply?”
Scarlet Moon stepped down from the throne.
She walked in front of Ling Xi, crouched down, and extended one finger to poke Ling Xi’s cheek.
That icy touch made Ling Xi shudder, briefly waking her for a moment.
“Look, even your face had turned pale. You should rest, right?”
“Where should I let you sleep?”
“Who knew you would stay here tonight? I was not prepared at all, and I didn’t arrange a room for you.”
She withdrew her finger, stood up, and paced around the hall, one hand supporting her chin, looking as though she was sincerely troubled over Ling Xi’s lodging arrangements.
Ling Xi’s instincts told her that not a single word this woman said could be trusted. This was nothing more than the routine teasing of a cat that had caught a mouse before enjoying it.
The pacing Scarlet Moon suddenly stopped, clenched her right hand into a fist, and lightly knocked it against her left palm.
“Right! I know a good place!”
At that instant, Ling Xi felt an invisible force reconnect with her body.
Her body disregarded her own will and stood up from the ground by itself.
Scarlet Moon turned around and walked toward the side of the hall. Ling Xi’s body also stepped forward, following closely behind her. The stride was not large, but the rhythm was completely identical to hers.
“Come with me, little one. I guarantee you’ll like that place.”
Ling Xi’s heart sank.
She looked at the road ahead and at the changes in the surrounding environment, and an increasingly ominous premonition rose within her.
They did not head toward the staircase leading to the upper guest rooms, but instead turned into a narrow passage that sloped downward.
The walls became rough stone, and the air grew cold and damp.
At intervals along the walls, dim magic lamps cast thin, elongated shadows behind them.
This was the road leading to the dungeon!
Because she had been in a hurry to push the BOSS, Ling Xi had never carefully explored this area.
However, the dim lighting and the endless path ahead instinctively made her uneasy.
“No… don’t!”
Ling Xi screamed inwardly, mobilizing all her strength in an attempt to seize back control of her body.
She wanted to make her legs stop, wanted her arms to flail—even falling to the ground would have been fine.
Yet she simply could not control her own body.
Her limbs still maintained precise steps, following the figure ahead.
Her struggle was not entirely without effect.
Scarlet Moon, who was walking in front, suddenly paused.
She turned her head, a sweet smile hanging on her face.
Yet that smile made Ling Xi feel as though the surrounding temperature had dropped several degrees.
“What’s wrong?”
Scarlet Moon asked softly, “Your body is resisting. Do you know where we’re going?”
Without waiting for Ling Xi to answer, she continued on her own.
“Well, that makes sense. You’ve already wandered through every corner of my Demon King’s Castle countless times, haven’t you!”
Those words struck Ling Xi’s heart like a heavy hammer.
She really did know everything!
Again and again, she had challenged her, explored her castle, searched for shortcuts, and deciphered mechanisms.
All of it had been a performance for her amusement!
The passage reached its end.
Before them stood a heavy portcullis forged from black iron, covered in rivets.
There was no handle and no keyhole, only a complex demon crest carved at its center.
Scarlet Moon extended her fair hand and gently pressed it against the crest.
The black iron gate slowly rose, and beyond it lay complete darkness.
“We’ve arrived.” Scarlet Moon turned her head back, her smile unchanged. “Our new toy collection room.”
She walked in first, and Ling Xi’s body followed close behind.
With a thunderous crash, the portcullis fell behind them, sealing off everything outside.
Scarlet Moon snapped her fingers.
Pa.
The wall-mounted candle stands lit up one by one. The orange-yellow flames dispelled part of the darkness and allowed Ling Xi to clearly see the room in its entirety.
This place was completely different from the damp, gloomy dungeon Ling Xi had imagined.
What met her eyes was a rather spacious room.
The floor was covered with a thick, soft dark red carpet that made no sound when stepped on.
In the center of the room stood a large bed that looked extremely comfortable, layered with fluffy feather quilts. Beside it was a small bedside cabinet, upon which sat an exquisite lamp emitting a gentle warm glow.
Against one wall stood a massive wardrobe. Its doors were made of expensive wood, carved with delicate patterns.
Rather than a prison cell, the entire room’s arrangement looked more like the boudoir of a noble young lady.
This scene, so completely opposite of her expectations, caused Ling Xi’s mind to stall briefly.
“Why does your expression look so awful?”
Scarlet Moon’s voice came from beside her.
“What did you think I was bringing you to?”
“A stone chamber full of rust and cobwebs?”
She circled around Ling Xi once, sizing her up with a scrutinizing gaze.
“Or perhaps you personally prefer a different style?”
“It’s fine. There are more deeper within the castle. Shall we change rooms now?”
Scarlet Moon’s tone was light, but the content made Ling Xi’s body stiffen.
“No!”
The refusal escaped her almost instantly, and Ling Xi immediately shook her head.
What a joke. She had no desire to experience real dungeon life.
Although she did not know what this woman was planning, at least this room looked safe.
“Good.” Scarlet Moon nodded in satisfaction and walked straight toward the large wardrobe.
She extended a finger and gently pulled. The heavy cabinet doors slid open to either side, revealing the scene within.
In that instant, Ling Xi’s pupils contracted.
The wardrobe was filled with all kinds of clothing.
Lace-trimmed nightgowns, dresses with elaborate ruffles, exquisitely tailored small formal gowns—every piece was brimming with girlish charm. Judging by the size, each one had been custom-made perfectly for her current body.
“Well? The gift I prepared for you.”
Scarlet Moon casually took down an off-white nightgown and held it up against herself for comparison.
“Considering that you’ll be staying tonight, you can’t very well keep wearing those tattered clothes, can you?”
She turned her head to look at Ling Xi, the smile on her face unchanged.
“I am very clear about the measurements of this body.”
