Chapter 109 : Again
Chapter 109: Again?!
There were no free lunches falling from the sky, and in hell, there were certainly no saints dropping out of nowhere.
Lilia did not believe in kindness without reason—especially not in a place that devoured people without even spitting out their bones.
The little succubus wiped her tears and sniffled.
She looked up at Lilia, her gaze so clear it almost seemed foolish.
“Because… because you’re a good person, Lady Lilia.”
Lilia: ?
That good person card came out of nowhere.
Lilia fell silent.
She found it even stranger.
“Lady Lilia, I know a route.”
Seeing that Lilia didn’t chase her away again, the little succubus lowered her voice, speaking urgently.
“It’s an abandoned sewage passage left over from when the palace was built. It’s been sealed for a long time, but I know there’s a gap in the seal.”
“The patrolling golem guards will rotate tonight—there’s a half-hour blind spot.”
“As long as you pass through there, you can get directly outside the moat!”
“You’re so strong—you’ll definitely be able to escape!”
A sewage passage?
This familiar setup, this familiar flavor.
So she transmigrated to another world just to crawl through sewers?
But…
Lilia’s heart began to pound uncontrollably.
Could she escape?
Could she really escape?
No need to face the unpredictable Demon Queen, no need to be threatened with dismemberment by that insane little girl, no need to hold some XX and commit workplace harassment.
As long as she crawled into that foul-smelling pipe, she could return to a world where the sky was vast and freedom limitless.
With her current abilities, even wandering the Demon Realm, she could probably live quite well, right?
“I can’t leave.”
The little succubus froze. “Why? If you don’t go now, it’ll be too late!”
Lilia raised her hand and shook the ring.
“Some things can’t be shaken off just by crawling through a sewer.”
“And…”
For some reason, Hera’s golden eyes flashed through Lilia’s mind.
That woman was fierce, arrogant, and a sadist.
But… she hadn’t really done anything to her.
She had even stood in front of her.
“If I leave now…”
“Then it really will be a dead end.”
Lilia patted the little succubus on the shoulder and adjusted the basket of bedsheets in her arms.
“Go back.”
“Forget what happened tonight.”
“Pretend you were never here, and I never heard anything.”
“But…”
“There’s no ‘but.’”
Lilia’s expression turned serious.
“This is an order.”
The little succubus bit her lip. In the end, she gave Lilia one deep look, lowered her head, and walked away holding the basket.
Watching that thin figure disappear into the darkness—
Lilia leaned against the doorframe.
“So, breaking out is off the table.”
She closed the door, leaned against the cold wooden panel, and slid down to sit on the floor.
She took the pink bottle out of her inventory again.
Under the dim candlelight.
The liquid swayed, emitting an eerie glow.
“Looks like…”
Lilia gritted her teeth, forcing out a smile uglier than crying.
“I’ll have to persuade the boss after all.”
The pink liquid sloshed inside the glass bottle, reflecting a restless, unsettling light.
Lilia lay on the single bed, holding it up in front of her like she was staring at a ticking bomb.
The countdown on the system panel continued ticking down second by second. Every change in the red numbers made Lilia’s eyelids twitch.
Less than 40 hours remained.
Either make Hera and herself drink this—
Or wait two days to be found by Mary and chopped into pieces.
Either way, it spelled death.
Lilia sighed, rolled over, and sat up, scratching her head irritably.
She imagined the scene of pouring this into Hera’s black tea.
That woman lifting the cup, taking an elegant sip, and then—
The image froze.
Lilia simply couldn’t picture Hera, that walking iceberg, showing any passion.
More likely, Hera would take a sip, frown at the strange taste, and then slap her—her Personal Maid—into the wall so hard she couldn’t even be scraped off.
“System, if I smash this bottle right now, would that count as mission failure?”
【Limb Dismantlement (Permanent)】.
“Fine, you win.”
Lilia lay back down again, stuffing the small bottle under her pillow. It felt uncomfortable, so she took it out and shoved it into the blanket instead, then worried it might get crushed.
After tossing and turning for most of the night—
Lilia couldn’t hold on any longer. Her eyelids began to fight each other.
Whatever.
If the sky collapsed, someone taller would hold it up—she was only 1.7 meters tall anyway.
Sleep first. Deal with it tomorrow.
Just as Lilia was drifting into unconsciousness—
Knock, knock.
That damned knocking sound rang out again.
This time, it wasn’t loud, but in the dead silence of the night, it sounded especially clear.
Lilia jolted upright like she had been electrocuted.
“Is this ever going to end?!”
She grabbed a pillow, ready to throw it at the door.
What did they think this place was?
A 24-hour convenience store?
That little demon had just left—who was it now?
Was it that clingy little lunatic Mary again?
Or was it Camilla, that exhibitionist, coming to stir trouble out of boredom?
Lilia glanced at the wall clock.
Midnight.
At this hour, even skeleton soldiers were lying flat in their coffins.
“Who is it?!”
Lilia shouted irritably. Her bedhead temper, combined with the anxiety of the death countdown, made her extremely volatile.
She didn’t even put on shoes, stepping barefoot onto the cold floor as she stormed toward the door.
If it was that little pervert Mary outside, then she would definitely—
Alright, definitely kneel and beg for mercy.
But before that, she at least had to put on a stance of refusing to yield even in death.
Lilia yanked the door open.
“Who doesn’t sleep in the middle of the night—do you all have some kind of—”
The word “problem” got stuck in her throat and was forcibly swallowed.
Lilia’s eyes widened, her mouth opening wide enough to fit an egg.
Under the dim candlelight of the corridor—
A tall, slender figure stood quietly there.
Not wearing that elaborate and luxurious queen’s gown, nor the battle attire filled with killing intent.
Just a simple black silk robe, loosely tied at the waist, the collar slightly open, revealing a dazzlingly pale collarbone.
Her long black hair cascaded over her shoulders like a waterfall, carrying a hint of just-woken laziness.
Those golden eyes glowed faintly in the shadows.
H-Hera?!
Lilia felt all the blood in her body turn cold.
This was even more terrifying than seeing Mary standing at the door with a knife!
At this hour, instead of sleeping, what was she doing here?
Had she gotten hungry in the middle of the night and come for a midnight snack?
“M-master…?”
Lilia stammered.
Her earlier irritation instantly turned into cold sweat streaming down her back.
She subconsciously glanced down at herself.
She was still wearing a loosened maid outfit, barefoot, and her hair was a complete mess like a bird’s nest.
