Chapter 658 : Reinforcements from Su Ya’s Mother
“Back here again, huh~”
Su Ya stood in front of her dormitory door. With the holiday break nearing its end, students were gradually returning to campus, and she was among them.
She unlocked the door with her key, revealing a quiet, empty room. It seemed she was the first to arrive.
Taking a deep breath, Su Ya casually placed her suitcase in a corner before sinking into a chair to rest.
The long journey—flying back, followed by a packed subway ride—had completely drained her. Though she knew she should unpack and clean up, she decided it could wait. For now, she just wanted to sit.
As she rested, Su Ya’s thoughts drifted to Ling Ning. If Ling Ning were here, she would undoubtedly lend a hand with the cleaning. Su Ya had stopped trying to deny her feelings—there was no use. Forgetting wasn’t an option, no matter how hard she tried.
Instead of thinking about moving on, perhaps it was better to focus on tying Ling Ning to her side, making her exclusively hers. As her mother had said, “Don’t wait until you’ve lost something to realize its value.”
She didn’t want to miss her chance.
After a while, just as Su Ya was on the verge of dozing off, a knock on the door roused her. Who could it be? Perhaps her roommate, Mantouka, was back?
Stretching, Su Ya made her way to the door. However, upon opening it, she was greeted not by Man Touka or the twin sisters Li Qian and Li Meng, but by the very person who had occupied her thoughts.
Standing in the hallway was Ling Ning.
Su Ya’s lips parted slightly in surprise, her voice soft. “You… why are you here?”
“Why else? I came to see you, of course,” Ling Ning replied, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Originally, Ling Ning had planned to sleep in that day, but an unexpected phone call had changed her plans. It was from Su Ya’s mother, who informed her that Su Ya had arrived in S City and was likely back at her dorm by now.
Though she didn’t know why Su Ya’s mother felt the need to tell her this, Ling Ning decided to pay Su Ya a visit—and sure enough, here she was.
“I mean… how did you know I’d be here?” Su Ya asked, bewildered. She had only told her family she was back. Could it really have been her mother who called Ling Ning?
Ling Ning smiled mischievously. “Oh, just a hunch. My sixth sense told me Xiao Ya had returned to campus, so I came over~”
Su Ya rolled her eyes. “As if I’d believe that. It must’ve been my mom who called you, wasn’t it?”
Without denying it, Ling Ning simply smiled. Su Ya let out a sigh and turned back into the room, leaving the door open—a clear invitation.
Chuckling softly, Ling Ning stepped inside. The room looked much the same as the last time she visited, suggesting that Su Ya hadn’t had time to tidy up yet.
“Here, this is for you~”
Ling Ning handed Su Ya a bag containing breakfast. After hearing from Su Ya’s mother that she had taken an early-morning flight, Ling Ning had bought breakfast on her way over, worried it might have gone cold by the time she arrived. Luckily, it hadn’t.
Su Ya’s mother’s assistance was proving to be incredibly effective—she had practically handed Ling Ning a detailed playbook.
“Th-thank you.”
Taking the bag, Su Ya began eating. Having skipped breakfast to rush back to campus, she was indeed hungry.
As Su Ya ate, Ling Ning sat quietly, watching her with the same expression one might have when admiring a rare treasure.
Feeling the weight of Ling Ning’s gaze, Su Ya frowned slightly. “Can you not stare at me like that? It’s hard to eat.”
“Why not? I just think you look adorable when you eat.”
Despite Su Ya’s sharp glare, Ling Ning’s smile remained unchanged. Knowing Su Ya well, she could tell the girl was merely embarrassed.
With a resigned sigh, Su Ya sped through her meal. Once she finished, Ling Ning stood and said,
“Let me help you clean up~”
Without waiting for a reply, she went to the balcony in search of cleaning supplies. Su Ya watched her silently but didn’t refuse.
Though the room wasn’t particularly dusty with the windows and doors closed, a basic cleaning was still necessary after such a long absence.
With Ling Ning’s help, the room was soon spotless. Su Ya then dragged her suitcase over to start unpacking her clothes and belongings. Naturally, Ling Ning joined in to assist.
“Xiao Ya, this pair of panties is pretty daring~”
Ling Ning remarked, holding up a pair of lacy underwear.
Blushing furiously, Su Ya snatched the panties back and stammered, “Th-that was a gift from my mom! I wasn’t planning to wear it, so don’t get any weird ideas!”
“Really? That’s a shame. I was hoping to see you in something this sexy. It’d be amazing~”
“You wear it if you like it so much!”
“I already am. Want to see?” Ling Ning teased, lifting the edge of her skirt slightly with a playful smirk.
For a moment, Su Ya was tempted to look but ultimately reached out to swat Ling Ning’s hand away. “Are you some kind of perverted nympho?”
“Nympho? Funny you say that—someone did call me that once~”
As if recalling a fond memory, Ling Ning smiled faintly and resumed helping with the unpacking.
Hearing this, Su Ya frowned slightly. She had a feeling the person who had called Ling Ning that was another rival for her affection. How many people was Ling Ning stringing along?
Even so, she couldn’t bring herself to ask.
Sighing softly, Su Ya thought to herself, Why do I have to be the one with such a thin skin?
