Chapter 616 : NTRing My Own Daughter!
“Teacher Bai, are you here to eat as well?”
Teacher Gao walked over to Bai Jie with a wide smile. Originally, he had only planned to eat here today, but unexpectedly, he ran into Bai Jie. Could this be divine intervention in his favor?
Not only Bai Jie but Ling Ning, too, sighed in resignation. Why did this Teacher Gao keep showing up wherever she went?
Ling Ning let out a helpless sigh, glanced around the restaurant, and then tugged lightly on Bai Jie’s sleeve. “Teacher Bai, it seems like there aren’t any available seats here. Why don’t we find another place to eat?”
“Hmm, you might be right.”
“Wait! Teacher Bai, hold on a second. My table only has me at it right now. If you don’t mind, why don’t we share? The last time I invited you, you said, ‘next time.’ Isn’t this the perfect opportunity?” Teacher Gao asked with a persistent smile.
Hearing his words, Bai Jie hesitated, thinking about how to respond. But before she could speak, Ling Ning cut in. “Excuse me, Teacher Gao, but I have something important to discuss with Teacher Bai today. I’m afraid it wouldn’t be convenient.”
Teacher Gao had not expected Ling Ning to speak up, leaving him momentarily at a loss. However, unwilling to give up, he quickly added, “Well, if it’s something important, maybe I could help as well?”
The moment the words left his mouth, Teacher Gao regretted them. After all, he wasn’t particularly close to Ling Ning. His offer sounded thoughtless no matter how one looked at it. Yet, he couldn’t take the words back now.
As expected, Ling Ning gave him an apologetic smile and replied, “I’m sorry, but I think this is something Teacher Bai and I should discuss alone. After all, we’re not that familiar, are we?”
With that, Ling Ning firmly took Bai Jie’s hand and led her out of the restaurant. It wasn’t until they had walked a considerable distance that they finally stopped.
“I’m sorry. That restaurant really was a nice place, but you saw how it was. Let’s try somewhere else,” Bai Jie apologized with a hint of regret.
“It’s fine. Who would’ve expected to run into him there?”
Scanning their surroundings, Ling Ning’s gaze landed on a nearby fast-food place called "Blue Route." She pointed it out with a smile. “How about we grab lunch there instead?”
“Eh? That place?”
“Sure, it’s convenient and affordable.”
Seeing Bai Jie still hesitate, Ling Ning decisively took her hand and started walking toward the restaurant. “Come on, it’ll be fine! I haven’t had fried chicken in ages. It’s good to indulge occasionally.”
Feeling the soft, warm grip of Ling Ning’s hand, Bai Jie opened her mouth as if to say something but ultimately let herself be led into "Blue Route."
It was lunchtime, and the place was busier than expected. Fortunately, the restaurant was spacious enough for them to find a seat.
Both of them had small appetites, so they didn’t order much.
As Ling Ning ate, Bai Jie hesitated before speaking. “Ling Ning, about what happened last time... I’d like to talk to you about it.”
“Last time? What happened last time?” Ling Ning asked, blinking in genuine confusion.
“Eh?!” Bai Jie was momentarily stunned but quickly gathered herself. “Are you really planning to pretend nothing happened? Is that okay?”
“What else can I do? Would you prefer I ask you to take responsibility?”
Although Ling Ning spoke with a playful tone, Bai Jie found herself instinctively taking the question seriously. But she quickly shook her head. NTRing her own daughter? Absolutely not!
Why, of all people, did her daughter have to like Ling Ning? No, wait! Why was her mind even going in this direction? She was straight—or at least she thought she was!
Even as Bai Jie wrestled with her conflicted thoughts, memories of that night lingered in her mind, tempting her with the urge to relive the experience...
Seeing Bai Jie’s conflicted expression, Ling Ning tilted her head in concern. “What’s wrong?”
“N-nothing! Oh, by the way, Ling Ning, you should find time to visit Yiyue. She’s always talking about you,” Bai Jie said, changing the subject.
“Mm, I know.”
Ling Ning replied, blinking. If she remembered correctly, she had already told Bai Jie she’d visit Bai Yiyue soon. Maybe Bai Jie had simply forgotten.

“Well, I’ll head back now. Take care on your way home, Ling Ning~”
“Bye~”
Ling Ning waved lightly as Bai Jie’s taxi drove off. Once the car was out of sight, she sighed softly. Perhaps this matter would fade with time... or so she hoped.
Checking her phone for the time, she noticed it was still early. Though going home seemed like a good option, the weather was too nice to spend indoors.
Where should she go next?
After a moment of thought, a faint smile graced Ling Ning’s lips.
“It’s been a while since I visited the café. Today’s a good day for it.”
The café wasn’t far from her current location, about a 30-minute walk. Having just finished lunch, Ling Ning decided to walk and enjoy the sunshine.
When she arrived, the café was bustling, almost at full capacity. Just as she stepped through the door, Chu Mengyao greeted her from behind the counter.
“Oh my, if it isn’t our great model and university genius, Miss Ling Ning!”
“Can’t you think of a new line to greet me with?” Ling Ning sighed.
“Nope, this is the only one that does justice to your magnificence.”
“Enough already! Keep this up, and I’ll leave.”
Chu Mengyao chuckled. “Exams must be over by now, right?”
“Mm, grades are out too. By the way, business seems good today.”
“It is. So, Ling Ning, how about helping out...”
