Chapter 574 : Master, What Do You Think About Teacher-Student Relationships
“Well then, we’ll take our leave now. Chen Ruo, do be careful on your way home.”
The group had finished dinner and was now preparing to go their separate ways.
“Don’t worry, Ling Ning. I know this area like the back of my hand. There’s no way I’d get lost, especially with Xiao Yue here with me~” Chen Ruo declared confidently.
Ling Ning chuckled softly. Considering that Chen Ruo often confused her left with her right, her claim didn’t carry much weight.
Seeing Ling Ning’s expression, Chen Ruo realized exactly what she was thinking but had no way to refute it. After all, if it hadn’t been for Ling Ning’s help earlier, she might have had a rather embarrassing mishap.
Lin Yue, on the other hand, shot Ling Ning a cold glance. She was convinced that Ling Ning had done something to her mother when she went to find her. Otherwise, why would her mother’s face have been so red upon returning?
No! She absolutely couldn’t let this shameless woman get any closer to her mother!
Ignoring Lin Yue’s wary look, Ling Ning stepped closer to her and said in a low voice, “Make sure you keep a close eye on your mom. Don’t let her wander off again. If anything happens, just call me. I’ll come right away~”
“Hmph, as if I needed you to tell me.”
Ling Ning simply chuckled before turning to leave with Jiang Xue.
As the two walked down the street, the cold night wind sent a shiver down Ling Ning’s spine. The weather was getting chillier, and she couldn’t help but wonder how much longer it would be until the school holidays started. It seemed they were still a ways off.
After a moment, Ling Ning glanced at Jiang Xue and asked curiously, “Disciple, you’ve been awfully quiet tonight. Is something on your mind?”
“H-have I?” Jiang Xue replied nervously.
“Of course! You’re usually quite chatty. Is something bothering you? While I may not be good at drawing, I’m pretty skilled at giving advice. If there’s anything troubling you, feel free to talk to me~” Ling Ning said confidently, patting her chest.
Hesitating for a moment, Jiang Xue seemed to make up her mind. “Master, I’ve been having some issues with the storyline of my comic lately. Could I ask for your advice?”
“Storyline issues? Of course, no problem~”
Looking around, Ling Ning noticed they were near Jiang Xue’s home. She suggested, “Let’s head to your place and talk about it. It’s too cold out here.”
Jiang Xue nodded, though her gaze wavered slightly as if she were lost in thought.
Eager to escape the cold, Ling Ning didn’t notice her disciple’s unusual behavior.
It had been a while since she last visited Jiang Xue’s home, and she was surprised to find the room tidy and organized. She had expected it to be as messy as it had been during her previous visits.
Noticing Ling Ning’s surprised expression, Jiang Xue smiled faintly. “I’ve been keeping my room clean, just like you suggested, Master.”
“Really?”
Ling Ning stepped into the room and naturally sat down on Jiang Xue’s bed. Aside from a single chair, the bed was the only place to sit, and it was much more inviting than the cold, hard chair.
After handing her Master a cup of hot water, Jiang Xue sat down beside her.
Taking a small sip, Ling Ning smiled contentedly. “So, what’s the issue with the storyline? Let’s hear it~”
“Well, I was thinking about making the main character’s Master the heroine. Master, what do you think about teacher-student relationships?” Jiang Xue asked, her tone calm and collected.
Ling Ning narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. “A forbidden romance between a teacher and student? That sounds pretty intriguing. If I remember correctly, the Master character in your comic is quite popular, isn’t she?”
“Yes, very popular.”
That was no surprise, considering how much effort Jiang Xue had put into the interactions between the protagonist and their Master. It was almost inevitable that the Master would become a fan favorite. And, of course, the Master character was based on Ling Ning herself.
“Personally, I think it’s a great idea. But what made you decide to go in that direction?” Ling Ning asked curiously.
“Many readers have left comments saying the Master character is adorable, so I thought adding a teacher-student romance might be a good fit,” Jiang Xue explained.
“I see~” Ling Ning nodded thoughtfully. “If I remember correctly, doesn’t the Master character have a close female friend in the comic? Hmm, that makes it even more compelling.”
“That’s exactly what I was thinking, Master. The protagonist starts off conflicted, hiding their true feelings and trying to suppress their desires. But ultimately, they succumb to the Master’s allure, taking one step after another down a path of no return. To the Master, the protagonist remains a loyal disciple—until one day, the protagonist confesses their love and steals a kiss, leaving the Master utterly shocked.”
Jiang Xue grew more animated as she spoke, her voice growing louder with excitement.
Even Ling Ning found herself drawn into the story. “And during their kiss, the Master’s close friend walks in, creating a classic dramatic scene?”
“That’s a fantastic idea, Master!”
Watching her disciple’s excitement, Ling Ning coughed lightly and said, “Don’t get too carried away. While the storyline sounds compelling, make sure you can handle it properly. If the plot falls apart, it’ll be a disaster.”
“Don’t worry, Master. I’ve got a plan. And I’ll consult you regularly for advice~” Jiang Xue said with a grin.
“Well, as long as you’ve thought it through. Just be careful. I’d hate to see your comic get canceled.”
Finishing the last of her water, Ling Ning stood up. “It’s getting late, so I’ll head home now. You should rest early too—don’t you have work tomorrow?”
As Ling Ning walked away, Jiang Xue’s lips curled into a mischievous smile.
“Ling Ning…”
