Chapter 552 : Beautiful Panties, Here I Come~
"Why exactly do four people have to squeeze into one bed!?"
Ling Ning looked at the three people already sprawled out on her bed, her expression filled with helplessness. How was she supposed to sleep like this? While her bed wasn’t small, it wasn’t exactly massive either. It was comfortable for two people, cramped for three, and with four... someone would definitely end up sleeping on the floor.
"It’s... it’s fine! As long as we squeeze a bit, we can all fit!" Bai Yiyue stammered.
"Yeah, yeah! Mom just has to hold me while sleeping, and everything will be fine!"
"Ling Ning, I could totally hold you while we sleep too!"
Looking at the three determined faces, Ling Ning sighed and said, "Fine, you three can sleep on this bed tonight. I’ll sleep in Ye Ye’s room. That’s final!"
With that, Ling Ning left her own room and headed to her daughter’s. Ling Ye’s bed wasn’t much smaller than hers, so it was still pretty comfortable to sleep in. Plus, it came with body pillows!
Even though it wasn’t the same as her daughter’s actual presence, hugging those pillows wasn’t bad at all.
The three left behind on Ling Ning’s bed stared at the now-closed door, dumbfounded. They clearly hadn’t expected this turn of events.
After a moment, the three exchanged glances. Bai Yiyue blinked and broke the silence first. "You know, this bed is a bit too cramped for three people. I think I’ll go squeeze in with Ling Ning instead~"
"Wait a minute! If anyone’s going, it should be me!" Ling Ye pouted, even puffing out her cheeks in protest.
Xia You said nothing. Instead, she quietly got up, heading toward the door while the other two were still arguing. Rather than wasting time on words, she preferred to act on her intentions.
"Hey, you can’t sneak off like that!"
Hearing the sound of the door opening, the arguing pair instantly fell silent and hurried after Xia You. However, they quickly realized the door to Ling Ye’s room was locked.
Awkward.
At that moment, Ling Ning’s voice came from inside the room: "Go to sleep, all of you! If I find out anyone’s still up, no breakfast for you tomorrow!"
Ling Ning didn’t bother with the trio outside and burrowed herself under the covers. Her daughter’s room was so cozy, filled with her scent—it felt so reassuring.
Unknowingly, Ling Ning drifted into sleep.

She didn’t know how long she had been asleep when a sudden need to use the bathroom woke her. Groggily opening her eyes, she surveyed her surroundings under the dim glow of a nightlight. Oh, right—this was her daughter’s room.
Ling Ning shook off her sleepiness, grabbed her jacket from a nearby chair, and put it on before getting out of bed. She opened the door and stepped into the cold air, shivering. The chill cleared her drowsiness significantly.
After using the bathroom, she didn’t immediately return to her daughter’s room. Instead, she tiptoed to her own room, carefully opening the door to check inside. Sure enough, the three were fast asleep.
Ling Ning quietly approached the bed, adjusting the covers for each of them. It really did seem possible for three people to sleep on the bed, albeit snugly.
Just as she was about to leave, she felt someone grab the hem of her shirt. She instinctively turned back and saw Bai Yiyue clutching her shirt, murmuring something in her sleep.
Ling Ning leaned in closer to listen. Bai Yiyue seemed to be saying, "Ling Ning, don’t leave me," or something equally embarrassing.
Even Ling Ning felt a bit flustered hearing it. How had she never noticed her clingy childhood friend talked in her sleep? Maybe she’d been too tired from work lately.
Gently prying Bai Yiyue’s fingers off her shirt, Ling Ning reached out and softly smoothed the furrow in her brow. As if sensing the comfort, Bai Yiyue visibly relaxed.
Once Ling Ning was sure everything was fine, she left the room and returned to her daughter’s bed to resume her sleep.
After she left, Bai Yiyue’s brow twitched slightly, and a sweet smile crept across her face.

The next morning, the alarm clock rang, pulling Ling Ning out of her slumber. It was once again time to make the most difficult decision of the day—getting out of bed, especially in winter.
Despite the temptation to stay under the covers, Ling Ning gritted her teeth, threw off the blanket, and quickly got dressed in a thick coat before leaving the room. She knew that if she waited any longer, she wouldn’t get up at all.
Since it was still early, Ling Ning finished her morning routine before waking the three "lazybones."
Xia You was the quickest to respond, getting up immediately after being called. Ling Ye squirmed a bit before reluctantly dragging herself out of bed. As for Bai Yiyue, she showed no intention of waking up at all. Ling Ning decided to let her be since she didn’t have school and had looked pretty tired last night.
After waking everyone, Ling Ning began rummaging through her wardrobe for clothes. Unbeknownst to her, Bai Yiyue’s seemingly closed eyes cracked open ever so slightly, as if observing something.
When Ling Ning finished changing, she turned around to glance at Bai Yiyue, who was still lying in bed. "Have you seen enough yet?"
"Huh? Ling Ning, what are you talking about?" Bai Yiyue’s voice sounded convincingly drowsy, like she’d just woken up. If Ling Ning hadn’t seen her through the mirror earlier, she might’ve been fooled.
Shaking her head lightly, Ling Ning decided to ignore her. Before leaving the room, she added, "You’ll need to figure out breakfast on your own. Make sure to lock the door when you go out. And don’t go snooping through my things. If I find out you did, you’re dead."
"Don’t worry, Ling Ning~ I’m just going to keep sleeping."
After some time, Bai Yiyue heard the front door close. Her eyes snapped open, glinting with excitement.
With Ling Ning off to school, she was now alone in the house.
"Ah~ Beautiful panties, here I come!"
