Chapter 531 : The Scene of the White Study
“Xia You, what do you think of this one?”
Ling Ning held up a Magical Girl Xiao Ai figurine. She thought it would be a pretty good gift for her daughter.
Hearing Ling Ning's question, Xia You squinted her eyes, glanced at the figurine, and skillfully flipped open her notebook. She had even made notes about some details to consider when buying figurines.
“This... This one’s fine, but I think this limited-edition version would be even better. Though, it is a little pricier,” Xia You said in a small voice.
“Oh? Really?”
Ling Ning looked at the figurine Xia You pointed to. Sure enough, it was marked as a limited edition, and the price was indeed much higher. But when it came to buying gifts for her daughter, Ling Ning never cared much about the price.
“Alright, let’s go with Xia You’s suggestion and buy this one~”
Without much hesitation, Ling Ning took out her wallet and bought the limited-edition Xiao Ai figurine. She wasn’t worried about its authenticity either, as the store was large, reputable, and had a good track record.
With her daughter’s gift sorted, Ling Ning’s expression became noticeably brighter. As they left the store, she smiled warmly at Xia You and asked, “Xia You, what would you like for Christmas?”
“Huh?! M-Me? I don’t need anything. Having Ling Ning with me is already the best gift,” Xia You said, blushing and speaking in a low voice.
“That won’t do! Xia You still needs a gift. There’s some time before lunch, so why don’t we go shopping for a bit more?”
Without giving Xia You a chance to refuse, Ling Ning grabbed her hand and started walking.
Watching Ling Ning’s figure ahead of her, Xia You’s lips curled into a beautiful smile. To her, as long as Ling Ning was by her side, she didn’t need anything else.
Perhaps because tomorrow was Christmas, the streets were becoming increasingly crowded. There were far more people than when they had first arrived. Walking through the bustling crowd, they eventually stopped in front of a jewelry store.
Ling Ning thought for a moment and then pulled Xia You into the store.

“Would you like to try them on?”
“Huh?!”
Xia You stared blankly at Ling Ning, who didn’t wait for her to respond. Ling Ning gently guided her to sit down and took the earrings from the store clerk, putting them on Xia You herself.
Feeling the familiar fragrance coming from Ling Ning, Xia You’s face flushed. She had opened her mouth to say something but ended up closing it again.
This scene didn’t go unnoticed by some other customers in the store. Though it was perfectly normal for girls to help each other with earrings, the atmosphere here felt anything but ordinary. Why did they feel such an inexplicable excitement?!
After putting the earrings on Xia You, Ling Ning nodded in satisfaction. Her eye for aesthetics had once again been proven spot-on; they suited Xia You perfectly.
“How much are these earrings?”
From Ling Ning’s tone, the store clerk could tell she was ready to make a purchase. Smiling brightly, the clerk quoted a number. But before Ling Ning could respond, Xia You tugged at her sleeve and whispered, “Ling Ning, they’re too expensive.”
“It’s alright. These earrings really suit you, and the price is still reasonable. Plus, the most important thing is—I just got my paycheck~”
With a light chuckle, Ling Ning took out her card and handed it to the clerk. Having just been paid, she felt confident in her purchases. She even began thinking about saving up to buy a house soon.
After buying the earrings, the two of them left the jewelry store. Seemingly thinking of something, Xia You removed one of her earrings and leaned close to put it on Ling Ning.
Noticing Ling Ning’s confused expression, Xia You gave a pure and sweet smile and said, “It looks great on you too, Ling Ning~”
Hearing this, Ling Ning blinked and said, “Then I’ll borrow Xia You’s earring for today, okay~?”
“Mm~”
“So, where should we go next?”
“Let me check.”
Xia You pulled out her notebook again, carefully studied it, then opened a map app on her phone. After a moment, she said, “I know a newly opened restaurant that has great reviews. I’ve already reserved a table. Let’s head there now~”

Following Xia You through the streets, Ling Ning arrived at the entrance of a Western restaurant. Ling Ning had been here before—it was somewhat famous, but for all the wrong reasons.

Now it had become a Western restaurant. Ling Ning wondered how long this one would last. Judging by the number of customers today, business seemed to be going well.
They entered the restaurant, and because Xia You had made a reservation, they were guided to a window-side table—a spot Xia You had carefully chosen.
When it came to ordering, Ling Ning left everything to Xia You. Given Xia You’s thorough research, she was confident the food wouldn’t disappoint.
As they chatted and waited for their food, three familiar figures appeared in Ling Ning’s line of sight.
Or rather—two familiar figures dressed as women, along with one other. It was none other than the trio of Chu Feng (cross-dressed), Qian Xu (cross-dressed), and Wei Suozhai.
At first glance, Ling Ning almost didn’t recognize Qian Xu in his feminine attire. He was a completely different person from the one she knew.
Who would’ve thought that on Christmas Eve, three people would show up together like this? Was this the legendary scene of the White Study?
