Chapter 521 : Blah Blah Blah~
“So, what do you think? This place isn’t bad, right?”
Standing in front of a luxurious buffet restaurant, Ling Ning looked delighted.
This place wasn’t cheap. She had visited once before with her daughter and Xia You, originally hoping they could eat their money’s worth. However, reality had been harsh—despite their efforts, they fell short.
This time, though, things would be different. She had brought the legendary bottomless pit, Lin Xi, along. If Lin Xi couldn’t eat enough to justify the cost, Ling Ning would admit defeat.
She even considered bringing her discipline here to celebrate someday. While her wallet might suffer, it’d be a rare feast worth the splurge.
Lin Xi blinked in surprise. “This place is super expensive, right? Are you sure it’s okay?”
As a foodie, Lin Xi knew of this restaurant but could never justify spending that much. The idea that Ling Ning was treating her to dinner here made her overjoyed.
“Of course, it’s fine. Worst case, you can wash dishes to pay it off. No big deal~”
“If you stay on as a waitress, I wouldn’t mind staying to wash dishes,” Lin Xi joked with a grin.
“Enough chatter. Let’s head in.”
The restaurant’s high prices didn’t deter customers, as the dining area was bustling with people, all eager to make the most of the time-limited buffet.
After paying and entering, Ling Ning turned to Lin Xi. “You’ve got one hour. If you can’t eat your money’s worth, you’re in trouble!”
“An hour? That’s more than enough!”
Lin Xi’s eyes sparkled as she gazed at the array of food, practically drooling. Without hesitation, she grabbed a plate and dove into the fray.
Watching Lin Xi’s excitement, Ling Ning chuckled softly. She didn’t rush to grab food herself, opting to sit down instead. She knew her own limits—she could eat enough to feel satisfied within an hour, but breaking even was out of the question.
It wasn’t long before Lin Xi returned, her plate piled high with food like a miniature mountain. Her enthusiasm drew surprised stares from other patrons, even prompting a staff member to approach.
“Ma’am, please take only what you can eat. Any leftovers will incur extra charges.”
“Don’t worry. This is nothing—I’ll finish it all,” Lin Xi replied nonchalantly.
“Enjoy your meal.”
The staffer said, deciding not to press further. After all, the guest was right there—she wouldn’t be able to run off.
“Take your time eating. I’ll go grab something~”
Ling Ning said, heading to the buffet. She only picked a few items she liked, keeping her portions modest. With time to spare, she figured she could always go back for seconds if needed.
When Ling Ning returned, she found Lin Xi had already devoured half of her “mountain” and showed no signs of slowing down. Bringing Lin Xi here was undoubtedly the right choice.
Time flew by, and the one-hour limit came to an end. Lin Xi had gone back for two more rounds, each plate stacked higher than the last. Initially, her appetite astonished the surrounding diners and staff, but eventually, they became desensitized, merely wondering where she was putting it all.
“Th-Thank you for dining with us. Please come again.”
“Oh, I definitely will!”
Lin Xi replied, patting her satisfied belly. It had been a long time since she felt this full. She resolved to return next month when her allowance came in.
“Lin Xi, I think they’ve blacklisted you,” Ling Ning teased.
“No way. I didn’t eat that much.”
“Sure, sure. You barely ate anything.”
If Lin Xi’s feast counted as “barely,” then Ling Ning’s meal wouldn’t even qualify as an appetizer.
Back on the street, the cold wind prompted Ling Ning to shiver. The chill was far more noticeable now that they’d left the warmth of the restaurant.
Glancing at Lin Xi, Ling Ning asked, “Feeling better now?”
“Yeah, a little.”
“So, have you decided about letting Zhao Rui join the club?”
“She can join if she wants. I don’t want the club I built from scratch to fade away. Sure, it’s in a shabby state now, but our so-called ‘ghost members’ still drop by occasionally. If they return one day and find the clubroom gone, wouldn’t that be awkward?”
Lin Xi chuckled. “And honestly, what’s there for Zhao Rui to take? It’s not like she can steal you. In fact, if she took a perverted stalker like you off my hands, it’d be a blessing.”
Ling Ning rolled her eyes. “What perverted stalker? I’ve done nothing to you. Most of the time, it’s pure coincidence. Call me that again, and I won’t hold back~”
“Perverted stalker, perverted stalker, blah blah blah~” Lin Xi teased, sticking out her tongue.
“Oh, you really want to test me, huh? Fine, no more holding back.”
Lin Xi smirked, knowing Ling Ning wouldn’t actually do anything so soon after a heavy meal. Exercising after eating was bad for digestion, after all.
“So, where to next?” Lin Xi asked.
“Take a walk with me.”
Ling Ning nodded and quickened her pace to keep up with Lin Xi. Then, seizing an opportune moment, she reached out with both hands...
“What are you doing?” Lin Xi exclaimed, clutching her chest as she stared at Ling Ning in shock.
“Didn’t you just call me a perverted stalker? I’m just living up to the title,” Ling Ning said, feigning innocence.
Lin Xi opened her mouth but couldn’t find the words to respond. What could she even say? Sighing in resignation, she muttered, “You know, Ling Ning, sometimes you’re just like a kid.”
“Aw, are you calling me youthful?”
“Forget it. By the way, feeling hungry yet? There’s a street food stall nearby. Want to grab a bite?”
“What?!”
