How Could I Possibly Have a Daughter After Reincarnating?

Chapter 508 : Still Couldn’t Bring Herself to Do It

“As expected, your cooking hasn’t lost its touch~”

He Miaomiao rubbed her slightly rounded belly, leaning back contentedly in her chair. It had been a while since she last had Qin Qing’s cooking, and the familiar flavors brought back memories of their university days. Nothing had changed—it was just as delicious as ever.

“Who do you think I am~”

Qin Qing took a sip of her red wine, her lips curving into a sultry smile. That mature, elegant aura radiated from her like a true older sister archetype, and Ling Ning found it undeniably charming.

Still, Qin Qing’s talents were truly remarkable. Designing clothes was one thing, but her cooking skills were also top-notch. Ling Ning couldn’t help but feel completely outmatched.

“So, what do you think? Is it good?”

“Mm, it’s amazing.”

“Good. I was worried I might’ve overbought ingredients, but thankfully, you and Ye Ye came over.”

Ling Ning chuckled softly, glancing at her daughter sipping on a can of cola. Her expression softened into a tender smile.

Sensing her Mom’s gaze, Ling Ye looked up in confusion before silently offering her cola to Ling Ning. Her intention was clear without needing words.

Ling Ning hesitated briefly before taking a sip. The cola tasted even better with a hint of her daughter’s presence—simply delightful.

At that moment, a thought struck Ling Ning, and she turned to Qin Qing with a puzzled look. “Sister Qin Qing, I’ve noticed my workload this month has been a bit light. Is there something going on?”

She wasn’t exaggerating. October was almost over, and she’d only gone to the company for a few photoshoots. Compared to the previous month, her workload had noticeably decreased. Not that she minded—less work gave her more time for freelance projects.

Qin Qing chuckled. “What’s this? Are you complaining about too little work? Should I start assigning you more?”

“N-no, that’s not it. It’s just that compared to last month, it feels a bit… reduced. So, I was wondering if something was wrong.”

“You don’t need to worry. The company’s doing fine. And if you think it’s too little, you’ll find out next month whether it’s really that light.”

Noticing Qin Qing’s mischievous grin, Ling Ning blinked. Had she just asked a stupid question?

“Haha, I’m just teasing you. But seriously, next month’s workload might increase since we’ll be preparing for the season change. You might need to take some leave occasionally. That okay?”

“No problem. With my grades, you don’t have to worry about me~”

That was precisely why she chose her current major in her past life.

“By the way, Ling Ning, this issue’s magazine cover received overwhelming praise. I’m looking forward to what you’ll do next~” He Miaomiao said with a grin.

As if remembering something important, He Miaomiao added, “Oh, by the way, Ling Ning, several talent scouts have contacted me recently. They want to know if you’re interested in joining the entertainment industry.”

She leaned in, smiling slyly. “Honestly, with your looks, even if you were just a decorative vase, you’d still draw tons of fans.”

Before Ling Ning could reply, Ling Ye stared at her Mom in surprise. “Mom, are you going to become a celebrity?”

“Come on, Sister Miaomiao, stop joking. I have no intention of entering the entertainment industry.”

The entertainment world was chaotic, and Ling Ning had heard plenty of horror stories from her overly affectionate childhood friend. If not for having strong backing, even her friend wouldn’t have dared venture into such a messy field.

He Miaomiao wasn’t surprised by Ling Ning’s response. She’d asked the same question before and received a similar reply. Still, Ling Ning really was different from most girls.

Typically, girls would feel at least a little tempted at the thought of fame, even if they didn’t pursue it. But in Ling Ning’s eyes, there wasn’t even a flicker of interest.

Downing the rest of her wine, He Miaomiao stood and stretched. “I’m heading out. Got work tomorrow~”

“Take care. And don’t drink and drive.”

He Miaomiao opened her mouth to respond but then fell silent, shaking her head in exasperation. “You’re drunk!”

“Drunk your sister! I’m not drunk. That’s just a joke about drinking and driving,” Qin Qing retorted.

He Miaomiao laughed lightly. When Qin Qing started talking like this, it was a clear sign she was tipsy. As she passed Ling Ning, she leaned down to whisper in her ear, “Your Sister Qin Qing’s drunk. You might need to take care of her.”

Startled, Ling Ning glanced at Qin Qing, then at the empty wine bottle. She and He Miaomiao had barely had a glass each, meaning Qin Qing had finished the rest.

After He Miaomiao left, Ling Ning turned to her daughter. “Ye Ye, why don’t you and Sirou go play in the room? Mom has to clean up. Or do you want to help?”

Without a word, Ling Ye took Qin Sirou’s hand and headed for the bedroom, leaving the dining area to Ling Ning and Qin Qing. Qin Qing was clearly drunk, her head lolling as she sat in a daze.

“Honestly, what’s the point of drinking so much?” Ling Ning muttered, walking over to help her. She carefully guided Qin Qing to the bedroom, intending to lay her down before tidying up the dining room.

After settling Qin Qing on the bed, Ling Ning pulled the blanket over her. Looking at Qin Qing’s alluring figure, Ling Ning couldn’t help but sigh. If this were her past life, she might not have resisted.

As Ling Ning turned to leave, a hand suddenly grabbed her wrist, pulling her back. Before she could react, she found herself tightly hugged by Qin Qing, as though she were a human-sized pillow.

Ling Ning had never heard of Qin Qing being a clingy drunk.

It took every ounce of her strength to extricate herself from Qin Qing’s grasp. After tucking the blanket securely around Qin Qing, Ling Ning finally left the room.

Unbeknownst to her, once the door closed, Qin Qing’s previously shut eyes opened slightly.

“You still couldn’t bring yourself to do it.”
