Chapter 496 : The War in the Eternal Silence Zone
Luo Xiaoning looked at Ling Ye with a devilish grin, leaping off the bed and striking a pose brimming with a chūnibyō (middle-school syndrome) aura. If not for the blanket draped over her shoulders, her messy hair, and her pajamas, she might have looked rather cool.
But in her current state, Luo Xiaoning resembled a complete lunatic. Even so, to Ling Ye, she still seemed incredibly cool.
Ling Ye thought hard. How could she strike such a perfect pose like Luo Xiaoning? She had tried similar moves at home alone, but they never had the same flair or charisma.
Seeing the admiration gleaming in Ling Ye’s eyes, Luo Xiaoning became even more smug. Who would have thought someone would one day seek her out for advice on such a subject? Kukuku, truly a great day!
“Sister Xiaoning, how do you manage that pose?”
Just as Luo Xiaoning was about to answer, she lost her footing. Her balance shifted, and she toppled onto the bed. Luckily, it was a soft landing.
Awkwardly laughing, Luo Xiaoning said, “Well, this pose isn’t something you can master right away. If you want to achieve such a high-level skill, you’ll have to start from the basics and practice diligently to build a strong foundation. Only then will you gain power like mine.”
She gazed seriously at Ling Ye, her heterochromatic eyes glinting with mysterious light. If not for her disheveled appearance, her words might have been more convincing.
Ling Ye was about to respond when the door to the “Eternal Silence Zone” opened. In strode the Fifth Apostle of the Eternal Master, “The Omnipotent Witch,” her face exuding an icy aura. Behind her, countless ghastly faces seemed to materialize, emanating a chilling atmosphere that even Luo Xiaoning, from a distance, could feel.
“Has her power grown so much in such a short time?”
Luo Xiaoning thought, biting her lip. Judging by her aggressive demeanor, this was no social visit. The fact that she had entered this space meant the barrier (door) had been breached.
There was no choice—Luo Xiaoning had to activate her final defense.
The “Lord of Silence” (Luo Xiaoning) formed a complex and mystical seal with her hands (reached for the fallen blanket). A radiant blue light (the blanket) immediately enveloped the Lord of Silence, giving an impression of unshakable protection (at least to Luo Xiaoning).
“Behold! This is my ultimate defensive artifact, the ‘Eternal Shroud.’ Not even you, Omnipotent Witch, can break through it!”
Luo Xiaoning’s voice emerged triumphantly from beneath the blanket, tinged with a self-satisfied tone.
Ling Ning raised an eyebrow, saying nothing for the moment. Since Luo Xiaoning had already worked herself up, there was no need for additional dialogue.
In Ling Ye’s wide-eyed perspective, Ling Ning, the “Omnipotent Witch,” advanced slowly toward the throne (bed) of the “Lord of Silence.” Each step seemed to tear through space itself, while the Witch’s aura grew more oppressive, as if she intended to annihilate the entire “Eternal Silence Zone.”
That was Ling Ye’s point of view, at least.
Reaching Luo Xiaoning’s bed, Ling Ning grabbed the blanket with both hands and yanked it off. Luo Xiaoning was instantly exposed to the chilly air.
“Uh… Ling Ning, I can explain!”
With her final defense stripped away, Luo Xiaoning blinked, her voice no longer dramatic but filled with nervousness as she faced Ling Ning’s kind yet unsettling smile.
“Didn’t I tell you not to teach Ling Ye things like this?”
“D-did you?”
“What do you think?”
Luo Xiaoning gave a sheepish laugh and avoided eye contact.
Ling Ning sighed and shook her head. This chūnibyō boss left her speechless. “Alright, get up. Chu Mengyao said if you’re not at the café within 30 minutes, you won’t be able to get out of bed for days.”
“W-what!?”
“Oh, and now you only have 18 minutes left. Better hurry~”
With that, Ling Ning left the room with Ling Ye, leaving Luo Xiaoning frozen on the bed in shock.
Not long after, a shrill scream echoed from Luo Xiaoning’s room. Chu Mengyao shot Ling Ning a questioning glance.
Ling Ning shrugged innocently, as if she had no idea what had happened.
Watching her Mom’s calm demeanor, Ling Ye thought, So this is what they call “Oscar-worthy acting.” Impressive!

“Darn it, Ling Ning! You tricked me!”
A sulking Luo Xiaoning confronted Ling Ning. Last night, Chu Mengyao had clearly said she could sleep in today, so why had she believed Ling Ning’s lies?
“What are you talking about? I don’t understand~”
Luo Xiaoning opened her mouth to retort but stopped. Arguing with Ling Ning would only make things worse. Why did things always end up like this?
Seizing a moment when Ling Ning wasn’t looking, Ling Ye shot an apologetic glance at Luo Xiaoning. If not for her, Luo Xiaoning wouldn’t be in this mess.
Luo Xiaoning shook her head and returned a “Don’t worry; there’s always next time” look. Someone who finally admired her—even if it was a little loli—was worth the effort. As the “Lord of Silence,” how could she give up so easily?
“Why are you blinking so much?”
“Uh… nothing. Just got some dust in my eye! Hahaha~”
“Oh, really? Somehow, I doubt that.”
“Of course! Anyway, Mengyao needs me. I’ll be off!”
Before Ling Ning could press further, Luo Xiaoning bolted.
Watching her retreating figure, Ling Ning chuckled softly. As if she didn’t know what Luo Xiaoning was up to. But for today, she decided to let it slide.

For the record, I, the Salty Fish, am not a chūnibyō!
