Chapter 473 : Is Ling Ning a Sadist or a Masochist
“Ling Ning’s cooking is just amazing as always~”
Su Ya sat on the sofa, patting her slightly rounded belly. Anyone unaware might think she was expecting!
“Of course! Mom’s cooking is the best in the world.”
Hearing her daughter’s words, even someone as thick-skinned as Ling Ning felt a bit flustered. The best in the world? Her cooking was probably only on par with a decent small eatery—though a particularly tasty one, at least.
Shaking her head with a smile, Ling Ning went to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Though both Ling Ye and Su Ya offered to do it for her, she declined. It wouldn’t take long anyway.
While Ling Ning washed the dishes, Su Ya glanced at Ling Ye, who was engrossed in her game. She then put on her headphones again, drawn back to the fascinating “study materials” she had discovered earlier. Apparently, there was even a sequel!
As she prepared to dive back in, her attention was caught by a small notebook under the coffee table. Thinking it might be a fashion magazine, she picked it up—only to discover it was a doujinshi.
Looking at the cover, the character depicted felt oddly familiar. Upon closer inspection, she realized it was Ling Ning! Was this doujinshi based on Ling Ning?
Curiosity piqued, Su Ya began flipping through the pages.
When Ling Ning returned from washing dishes, she saw Su Ya reading what she thought was a magazine and didn’t think much of it. She resumed playing games with her daughter. But something about the “magazine” felt familiar.
However, with most of her attention on the game, Ling Ning couldn’t immediately recall what it was. Probably just a fashion magazine—after all, the only other thing in her house was the 18+ doujinshi Chen Ruo had gifted her… Wait!
Realizing what it might be, Ling Ning’s excited expression froze. She turned her head to confirm and saw Su Ya holding the “magazine.” It was indeed the 18+ doujinshi Chen Ruo had sent her.
Worse yet, the protagonist of the doujinshi was modeled after her! How mortifying.
Under Ling Ye’s curious gaze, Ling Ning put down her controller and rushed over to Su Ya, taking the book from her hands. “T-this… this isn’t suitable for you!” she stammered.
“Huh!? Ling Ning, don’t take it away!”
Su Ya looked longingly at the book in Ling Ning’s hands. She had been at a thrilling part when it was snatched away. She was dying to know what happened next—did the housewife who looked like Ling Ning really get turned into a weapon?
“It’s… it’s better if you don’t read this,” Ling Ning said, her cheeks flushed. For some reason, having someone else see this made her feel deeply embarrassed.
Unrelenting, Su Ya hugged Ling Ning’s arm and cooed, “It’s okay~ I’ve already read half of it. A little more won’t hurt~”
“B-but…”
Faced with Su Ya’s pleading gaze, Ling Ning caved and handed the doujinshi back to her, her expression one of utter defeat. She returned to her daughter’s side to continue gaming, looking as if all hope was lost.
Ling Ye, meanwhile, remained silent. She had secretly taken the doujinshi from her mom’s room to read late at night. Having stashed it under the coffee table, she never expected it to be discovered. Thankfully, it seemed her mom hadn’t caught on. Maybe the heavens were watching over her.

“See you tomorrow! Bye-bye~”
“Mm, see you tomorrow. Text me when you get back to the dorm.”
As Su Ya’s figure disappeared down the street, Ling Ning let out a yawn. The last day of the holiday had passed entirely in leisure at home. Seven whole days gone, and yet it felt so uneventful.
Closing the door, Ling Ning glanced at her daughter, still absorbed in her game, then walked to her computer. With time to spare before dinner, she figured she might as well write for a bit to calm her mind.
Taking her laptop back to her room, she made sure to lock the door. Before writing, though, she decided to watch a video for inspiration. The “study material” shared by the group’s “Master Sensei” last time was quite good.
Watching videos for reference before writing was perfectly normal, right?
Opening the unfinished “study material,” Ling Ning noticed something odd. The progress bar was at the end. She distinctly remembered leaving it less than halfway through. Why was it now at the conclusion?
Her gaze sharpened. Ever since giving her daughter a computer, she hadn’t bothered to cover her tracks on this one. After all, Ling Ye wouldn’t snoop through her laptop… right?
Unbeknownst to Ling Ning, Ling Ye probably knew the layout of her laptop’s files even better than she did.
Which left one other possibility: Su Ya. From yesterday until now, Su Ya was the only other person to use her laptop. Could it be…?
The thought made Ling Ning’s expression freeze. Remembering Su Ya’s amused smile while using the computer, Ling Ning felt a pang of unease. That “study material” was quite explicit. What if Su Ya awakened to some unusual interests after watching it? If that happened…
A shiver ran down Ling Ning’s spine.
Shaking her head vigorously, she told herself not to jump to conclusions. Maybe it was just a random glitch. That was entirely possible.
But even she didn’t believe it.
Meanwhile, Su Ya, walking back to her dorm, was still thinking about the “study material” she’d seen on Ling Ning’s laptop. A mischievous smile played on her lips.
“I wonder if Ling Ning is a sadist or a masochist~”
Lost in thought, Ling Ning suddenly shivered. A sense of impending doom crept over her.
