How Could I Possibly Have a Daughter After Reincarnating?

Chapter 464 : It Was Pretty Pleasant~

“It’s so early... Ling Ning is probably still asleep.”

Bai Yiyue stood in front of Ling Ning’s door. It was just past six in the morning, but she didn’t have a choice. With a flight scheduled for 9 a.m., she had to come by early. Still, the thought of waking Ling Ning made her hesitate to knock.

As she sighed and prepared to leave, the door suddenly opened. Ling Ning, dressed in a sleep dress, stood there quietly looking at her.

“Well? Aren’t you going to come in?”

Bai Yiyue blinked in surprise. “Ling Ning, you’re up already!?”

“I went to bed early last night, so I woke up early,” Ling Ning replied with a light laugh as she limped into the living room and sat on the couch.

Last night, after her call with Chen Ruo, Ling Ning had felt unusually sleepy. After drying her hair, she fell asleep almost instantly, not even realizing when her daughter climbed into bed with her.

The result was waking up at five in the morning, unable to go back to sleep. Not wanting to disturb her daughter, she decided to watch videos on her phone in the living room.

Hearing noise in the hallway, she looked through the peephole and found Bai Yiyue.

“So, why are you here so early?”

“I’ve got a flight at nine. I wanted to see you before leaving, but when I got here, I realized it was too early to knock. I didn’t want to disturb you.”

“Silly~”

“Calling others silly makes you the silly one!”

Grinning, Bai Yiyue plopped down on the couch, resting her head on Ling Ning’s lap. The faint fragrance emanating from Ling Ning brought a soft smile to her lips.

“Your lap pillow is just as comfortable as it was when we were kids.”

“Are you calling my thighs fat?”

“No way! Your figure is amazing—no chance your thighs are fat!”

“Really?”

“Absolutely~”

Their conversation ended, leaving the living room in a calm, tranquil silence, broken only by the sound of their soft breathing.

After a while, Ling Ning quietly asked, “How long will you be gone this time?”

“A month. I’ll be back after a month.”

“Don’t push yourself too hard,” Ling Ning said, gently twirling a strand of Bai Yiyue’s hair in her fingers. Her childhood friend’s hair was surprisingly soft and pleasant to touch.

Feeling the light tug on her hair, Bai Yiyue wriggled slightly, but when she realized she couldn’t escape Ling Ning’s grasp, she gave up and sighed. “I know. But you should take care of your leg too. Don’t overdo it.”

“If I don’t work, will you support me?”

“Of course I will,” Bai Yiyue replied seriously. Her family’s wealth was more than enough to take care of Ling Ning and Ling Ye.

Ling Ning smiled faintly. “I was joking.”

“Eh!?”

Before Bai Yiyue could say more, her phone rang. It was Wu Zi. “Miss Bai, it’s time.”

“Got it.”

Reluctantly getting up, Bai Yiyue gave Ling Ning a bittersweet smile. “It’s time for me to go.”

“Safe travels.”

Despite her words, Bai Yiyue made no move to leave. Just as Ling Ning was about to ask why, her mouth was abruptly covered—by a kiss.

Unlike her usual playful antics, this kiss was fleeting, barely more than a touch.

Before Ling Ning could react, Bai Yiyue darted to the door, a triumphant grin on her face. “I’m really leaving this time. No need to see me out, okay?”

“You’re unbelievable!”

Hearing Ling Ning’s exasperated shout, Bai Yiyue shrugged and quickly exited. If she stayed any longer, Ling Ning might have thrown a slipper at her face. Wait—Ling Ning’s slipper? That didn’t sound too bad...

Downstairs, Wu Zi was waiting. Once in the car, Bai Yiyue turned to her with a satisfied smile. “So, how was your day off yesterday, Wu Zi?”

“My day off...” Wu Zi’s face reddened slightly as she glanced out the window. “It was... pretty pleasant.”

Bai Yiyue gazed out the car window toward Ling Ning’s apartment. “That’s good. I’ll work hard for the next month, finish all this annoying work, and come back as soon as I can.”

“Mom, did someone come by?”

Ling Ye emerged from her room, still half-asleep, to find Ling Ning sitting on the couch, seemingly lost in thought. Earlier, she thought she’d heard voices while drifting in and out of sleep but wasn’t sure if it was just her imagination.

“Mm, your Sister Bai Yiyue just left.”

“Oh~”

Yawning, Ling Ye headed to the bathroom to wash up. She had plans for the day, which was why she was up so early.

“Going out today, Ye Ye?”

“Yeah, Sirou and the others asked me to hang out.”

“Okay. Be careful, especially around creepy uncles and any strange aunties like Chu Mengyao or Luo Xiaoning.”

“I know~”

Though Ling Ye’s reply was nonchalant, her Mom’s concern made her secretly happy. But the thought of the holiday ending in two days dampened her mood.

After her daughter left, Ling Ning lazily sprawled on the couch, flipping through TV channels aimlessly.

Being home alone was so boring. If her leg wasn’t injured, she’d have gone out to work. She even had a few magazine shoots scheduled but had to cancel them all. Taking care of her injury came first.

Thinking of Xia You, she wondered if she was awake yet. Maybe she could play games with her. Ling Ning sent Xia You a message, only to find out Xia You was working at the café.

“Ugh, injured legs are the worst!” Ling Ning muttered.

As she debated whether to take a nap, the doorbell suddenly rang.
