How Could I Possibly Have a Daughter After Reincarnating?

Chapter 461 : Let Go of My Mom!

“What’s with you two? It’s just a game—there’s no need to be so serious! If you squeeze the controller any harder, it’s going to break!”

Ling Ning sighed from her spot on the couch, watching the intense game between the two players. Their exaggerated expressions paired with the dramatic on-screen wrestling almost made the scene seem like a parody.

Her main concern, however, was for her controllers. If they kept this up, they might not last until tomorrow—and those things weren’t cheap!

As the overly flamboyant “KO” sound effect played, Bai Yiyue sighed in frustration, lowering her head. Gaming wasn’t her forte, and she was no match for Ling Ye. Out of all the rounds they had played, she had only won once—and that was because Ling Ye had been chatting with Ling Ning and not paying attention.

No, this wouldn’t do. Bai Yiyue resolved to improve her gaming skills.

Just as they were about to start the next round, the doorbell rang. Ling Ning tried to get up to answer it, but Bai Yiyue beat her to it, walking briskly to the door.

Looking through the peephole, she saw a beautiful girl standing outside. Bai Yiyue didn’t recognize her—was this one of Ling Ning’s new friends? Or maybe a salesperson?

With a puzzled expression, Bai Yiyue opened the door.

“Hello, who are you looking for?”

Su Ya stood frozen, staring at Bai Yiyue in disbelief. This person looked exactly like Bai Yiyue herself! What was she doing at Ling Ning’s house? Wait—had she come to the wrong place?

No, that couldn’t be it. She wasn’t the type to get lost. This was definitely Ling Ning’s home.

While Su Ya hesitated, she heard Ling Ning’s voice from inside.

“Come on, Ye Ye, can’t you let your mom win for once?”

“Um... I’m here to see Ling Ning.”

“Oh, a friend of Ling Ning’s? Come in.”

Bai Yiyue opened the door and let Su Ya in, silently wondering if this was just an ordinary friend of Ling Ning’s.

When Ling Ning saw Su Ya enter, she froze in surprise, forgetting to control her character in the game. Ling Ye’s swift combo finished her off with two special moves.

“Xiao Ya? What brings you here?”

“I just wanted to see if you were home. Oh, and here—this is for you. I washed it and thought I’d return it.”

Su Ya handed over a bag to Ling Ning. It contained the clothes Ling Ning had lent her at the love hotel. She had been meaning to return them for a while but kept forgetting. Finally remembering, she decided to drop by Ling Ning’s place on her way out shopping with Lu Muyuan.

“So that’s what this is about. Thanks for taking the trouble,” Ling Ning said, accepting the bag. These were the clothes Su Ya had worn. Even though they’d been washed, they were... Wait! Why was she thinking about that? She wasn’t a pervert!

It had to be the influence of those adult comics by Chen Ruo she had read recently. Yes, that had to be it.

Bai Yiyue squinted at the bag, thinking about how much she wanted to wear Ling Ning’s clothes too. If they were clothes Ling Ning had worn, even better. Just imagining it made her mouth water.

“Oh, I almost forgot to introduce you two,” Ling Ning said. “This is Bai Yiyue—the famous actress and my childhood friend.”

“And this is Su Ya, my college classmate. We’re, uh, besties... for now.”

Hearing this, Su Ya finally realized the person in front of her was indeed Bai Yiyue. She had thought they only looked alike, but now it turned out Ling Ning was childhood friends with a big star. Ling Ning really was incredible.

“Hello, I’m Bai Yiyue.”

“Hi! I’m Su Ya. I’m a huge fan of yours, Ms. Bai! Could I have your autograph?” Su Ya excitedly pulled a small notebook and pen from her bag.

Bai Yiyue, eager to make a good impression on Ling Ning’s friend, happily obliged, signing her name in bold strokes. Winning over Ling Ning’s friends seemed like a good move.

Meanwhile, Ling Ning, holding a water glass, limped into the room. Su Ya immediately stood up to take the glass from her.

“Ling Ning, what happened to your leg?” Su Ya asked, concerned.

“I twisted it yesterday. It hurts so much!”

“Is it serious? Should we go to the hospital?”

“It’s fine, really. A bit of rest, and it’ll heal.”

At that moment, Su Ya’s phone rang. Seeing Lu Muyuan’s name on the screen, she remembered their shopping plans.

“I just realized I have to go. Sorry, Ling Ning.”

“Really? Can’t you stay a bit longer?”

“I wish I could, but I promised Mantouka I’d go shopping. She’s waiting downstairs,” Su Ya said regretfully.

After Su Ya left, Bai Yiyue moved closer to Ling Ning and asked in a low voice, “Ling Ning, are you close with that classmate?”

“Eh?”

Ling Ning hesitated, unsure how to answer. She couldn’t exactly say she was dating Su Ya—at least, not yet.

“We’re pretty close.”

“Oh~” Bai Yiyue replied thoughtfully. After a moment, her eyes lit up. “Ling Ning, have you remembered anything about our childhood together?”

“About that...” Ling Ning squinted, pretending to be deep in thought.

Seeing Ling Ning’s expression, Bai Yiyue’s initial excitement dimmed. Had her hopes been for nothing?

“Pfft~” Ling Ning couldn’t hold back her laughter. “I was just teasing you. I actually remember most of it now, Yiyue~”

“You little—Ling Ning, you tricked me! Take this!”

“Stop! My leg!”

“Hey! Let go of my mom!”
