Chapter 458 : I Won’t Do Anything Rash
“Of course it’s true. Would I lie to you?”
Bai Jie said, her smile as pure as it could be. Watching from the side, Ling Ning was left speechless. How could someone be so shameless!?
“Oh, by the way, what time was your flight? Are you tired? Do you need something to eat?”
“I’m fine for now.”
Even after hearing Ling Ning and her mom’s explanation, Bai Yiyue couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
With Bai Yiyue’s unexpected arrival, any hopes of lingering in bed were dashed.
Ling Ning attempted to rise from bed nonchalantly, but the moment her right foot touched the floor, a sharp pain shot through her ankle, almost bringing tears to her eyes. Any lingering drowsiness was gone in an instant.
Noticing Ling Ning’s strange expression, Bai Yiyue hurried over. That’s when she saw Ling Ning’s swollen ankle.
“What happened, Ling Ning?”
“I twisted it yesterday.”
“Are you okay? Should we go to the hospital!?”
Ling Ning chuckled softly at Bai Yiyue’s worry. “It’s just a minor sprain. A bit of rest, and it’ll be fine. Nothing serious.”
“Really?”
“Don’t worry, Yiyue,” Bai Jie chimed in. “It’s nothing major. Help Ling Ning out to the living room. I’ll grab some ointment to massage her ankle in a bit.”
Hearing her mom’s reassurances, Bai Yiyue gently helped Ling Ning out of the room. But as she did, a mischievous thought crossed her mind: Ling Ning’s injured leg meant her escape abilities were now nonexistent.
Noticing Bai Yiyue’s sudden sly grin, Ling Ning couldn’t help but feel uneasy.
“Um, Yiyue, can you help me to the bathroom first? I want to freshen up.”
“Sure.”
Once they reached the bathroom in Bai Yiyue’s room, Bai Yiyue handed Ling Ning some toiletries but made no move to leave. Instead, she leaned against the door, smiling as she watched Ling Ning.
Even Ling Ning, usually calm, felt uncomfortable being stared at while brushing her teeth. After rinsing her mouth, she turned to Bai Yiyue with a resigned expression.
“Can’t you leave for a bit? Or are you planning to watch me use the toilet too?”
“I’d like to.”
Speechless, Ling Ning realized reasoning with someone like Bai Yiyue was pointless. If she didn’t push back, Bai Yiyue would take full advantage.
Before Ling Ning could say another word, Bai Yiyue suddenly leaned in and kissed her. Stunned, Ling Ning’s mind blanked—especially with Bai Jie still in the house and the bathroom door wide open. If they were caught, it would be a disaster!
Seeing Ling Ning’s panic, Bai Yiyue casually closed the bathroom door and locked it.
After what felt like an eternity, just as Ling Ning thought she might pass out, a knock on the door startled them both.
“Ling Ning? Yiyue? Are you in there?” Bai Jie’s voice came from outside.
Reluctantly, Bai Yiyue broke the kiss and gestured for Ling Ning to stay quiet before replying, “It’s me, Mom. Ling Ning’s probably in the guest room.”
“Oh~ I was wondering where you two disappeared to. I’m going to make breakfast. Any requests?”
“Whatever you feel like making is fine, Mom.”
Once Bai Jie’s footsteps faded, Ling Ning let out a long sigh and glared at Yiyue. “How many times have I told you to consider the situation? What if your mom found out? I wouldn’t know how to explain it!”
“Relax. I’m pretty sure my mom already knows I like you. What’s the harm in her knowing a little more?” Bai Yiyue teased, her hands starting to wander. Ling Ning promptly swatted them away.
“Cut it out and leave. I still need to wash my face and use the bathroom!”
“Eh!?”
Despite her reluctance, Bai Yiyue was eventually pushed out of the bathroom. Standing outside, she stared longingly at the door, wishing she had X-ray vision.

“Yiyue, how long are you staying this time?”
At the breakfast table, Bai Jie’s question prompted Bai Yiyue to look up. “Just two days. I have to leave by tomorrow afternoon.”
“That’s so soon? Is your work wrapping up over there?”
“Almost. In about a month, once I finish filming this movie, things should ease up a bit,” Bai Yiyue replied with a cheerful smile.
“I see. That’s good to hear. After breakfast, can you take Ling Ning home? I have some errands to run, so I’ll have to trouble you with this.”
“No problem! Mission accepted!”
Taking Ling Ning home? What a wonderful opportunity! If no one else was at Ling Ning’s house, it would be the perfect chance to spend some alone time with her.
The thought of being alone with a completely incapacitated Ling Ning was thrilling to Bai Yiyue .
Noticing Bai Yiyue’s grin, Ling Ning shot her a sharp warning look as if to say, *Don’t you dare try anything funny.*
“Don’t worry. I won’t do anything rash!” Bai Yiyue’s eyes sparkled with feigned innocence.
Watching their silent exchange, Bai Jie opened her mouth to say something but ultimately decided against it. It was better not to meddle too much.
After breakfast, Bai Jie left the house, leaving Ling Ning alone with Bai Yiyue . Ling Ning couldn’t shake the feeling that she was in danger.
“Um, Ling Ning, do you think we could...”
“No. Absolutely not. Get lost!”
Ling Ning’s immediate refusal left no room for negotiation. Bai Yiyue’s intentions were obvious.
“Eh!?”
Undeterred, Bai Yiyue sat beside Ling Ning, inching closer and closer until she suddenly wrapped her arms around her.
Just as Ling Ning braced herself for whatever Bai Yiyue might do next, she heard her whisper softly, “I’ve missed you so much, Ling Ning.”
With a resigned sigh, Ling Ning replied, “Well, you’re seeing me now, aren’t you? I’m not going anywhere. Also, could you please move your hand off my butt?”
