Jiang Xue spoke from the heart as she watched Ling Ning tying her apron in the kitchen, preparing to cook.
In Jiang Xue’s eyes, her Master was the epitome of perfection—be it at work or in daily life. Jiang Xue’s dream was to become someone like her Master.
But right now, it seemed she was still far, far away from achieving that.
“Stop saying such nonsense. You know your Master is still just a freshman in college, a bright young thing! Marriage is a long way off~” Ling Ning replied cheerfully, then added under her breath, “Besides, whether I get married or someone marries me is still up for debate.”
Jiang Xue cast a deep look at her Master, wondering what it would be like if she were the one to marry Ling Ning.
She imagined herself coming home from work every day, greeted by Ling Ning at the door. “Would you like dinner first? Or me?”
Just thinking about it made Jiang Xue’s recently calmed heart race again. She shook her head to dispel the cliché fantasy. Besides, her future job probably wouldn’t require her to leave the house.
As Jiang Xue’s mind wandered, Ling Ning stepped out of the kitchen with a sheepish expression. “Uh, disciple? Could you do me a favor and run to the nearby convenience store for soy sauce? We’re all out.”
“S-sure, I’ll go right away.”
“Thanks, and sorry for the trouble~”
“It’s no problem.”
Jiang Xue quickly put on her shoes and left the house. She figured the walk would help her calm down.
Downstairs, Jiang Xue was about to head toward the store when she noticed a cute girl hurrying past her, completely absorbed in her phone. The girl muttered something about an event ending soon and needing to finish her three hundred rolls.
Jiang Xue was about to warn her to watch where she was going when the girl walked straight into a lamppost.
Covering her eyes, Jiang Xue thought, This is why you don’t walk while staring at your phone.
“Are you okay?”
“I-I’m fine.” Wei Lan covered her nose, clearly in pain. She’d lost count of how many times she’d crashed into this particular lamppost. Normally, she was more careful, but with the mobile game event ending soon, she couldn’t help grinding on the go.
If it weren’t for her brother promising to buy her a pack in the game, she wouldn’t have braved the scorching sun to fetch his USB drive.
“As long as you’re okay. Be more careful and don’t use your phone while walking, okay?”
“Got it, thanks, big sister!” Wei Lan replied cheerfully before hurrying off, eager to claim her reward and roll for an SSR. She felt as though she held the future in her hands.
Watching Wei Lan’s retreating figure, Jiang Xue shook her head with a wry smile and resumed her walk to the store. On her way, she noticed a small USB drive on the ground with the words “TOP SECRET” written on it.
Picking it up, Jiang Xue frowned slightly. It must have fallen from that girl’s bag. Looking up, she realized Wei Lan was already out of sight.
Shrugging, Jiang Xue put the USB in her bag. She decided to buy the soy sauce first. If the girl returned looking for it, she’d hand it back. If not, she’d leave it with the building’s security guard.

The moment Wei Lan returned home, Wei Suozhai practically pounced on her. His eagerness would have raised eyebrows if anyone else had seen it.
“Calm down. Here you go,” Wei Lan said, bringing out her bag. But then she noticed a small tear in it. A bad feeling crept over her and her brother.
“Huh!? It’s gone! I put it in here, I swear!” Wei Lan frantically searched her bag, but the USB was nowhere to be found. Wei Suozhai’s expression darkened.
“I let my guard down,” he muttered, facepalming. He suddenly recalled a chilling truth—his sister was just as careless as he was. The fact that previous USBs hadn’t been lost had lulled him into a false sense of security. Now he was paying the price.
This was his last USB, containing rare teacher-student yuri content. If he lost it, he’d have to resort to his ultimate backup collection.
“I must’ve dropped it when I bumped into the lamppost!” Wei Lan exclaimed, rushing out the door. She hoped she could find it quickly since not much time had passed.
Back at the lamppost, Wei Lan searched the area thoroughly but couldn’t find the USB. Just as she was about to give up, a gentle voice called out from behind her.
“Are you looking for this?”
Turning around, she saw the big sister from earlier holding the USB drive.
“Yes! Thank you so much!”
“If it’s that important, be more careful in the future,” Jiang Xue said with a smile before walking into the nearby building.

Frowning, Wei Suozhai decided to take precautions. He’d make a backup of the USB’s contents and take the copy out with him. If he lost it, the original would still be safe.
