Chapter 417 : The Night is Still Young~
“Xiao Ya, what’s wrong?”
Lu Muyuan glanced at Su Ya, puzzled. She looked utterly out of sorts, and as soon as she returned to the dorm, she collapsed onto her bed, burying herself in her pillow.
“It’s… it’s nothing. Just leave me alone for now.”
Su Ya mumbled, hugging her pillow tightly. Her mind was consumed by thoughts of Ling Ning’s confession and that tender kiss. No matter how much she replayed the scene, she still couldn’t wrap her head around it. She had never imagined that Ling Ning harbored such feelings for her.
Lu Muyuan blinked in confusion. Something was definitely off about Su Ya today. Could it be that she had broken up with her boyfriend? Or had something else happened? Lu Muyuan’s inner gossip-loving soul began to burn with curiosity.
However, in Su Ya’s current state, it was unlikely she’d get any answers.
“I’m heading down to grab dinner. Want me to bring you back something?”
“No, thanks.”
Just as Lu Muyuan was about to leave, Su Ya called out to her hesitantly. “Xiao Yuan, can I ask you something?”
Hearing this, Lu Muyuan returned to her chair and sat down with a serious expression. “Ask away. You know I’m famous for keeping secrets.”
“It’s about… a friend of mine. She’s a girl, and she was suddenly confessed to by another girl. What’s more, the one who confessed is her close best friend. Now she doesn’t know what to do. How should she respond?”
“Oh, and my friend also has a boyfriend.”
Su Ya added in a small voice, clutching her pillow tightly.
“Oh~” Lu Muyuan nodded knowingly. She understood. When people said, I have a friend, they often meant themselves. If that was the case, Su Ya must have been confessed to by another girl.
And the confessor? If Lu Muyuan’s hunch was right, it could only be Ling Ning.
Su Ya had mentioned before that she didn’t know many people at this school, aside from her boyfriend and the new friend she’d recently made.
Pushing up her nonexistent glasses dramatically, Lu Muyuan replied, “That’s not something anyone else can answer. The key is figuring out what your friend feels.”
“Well… she doesn’t know how she feels.”
“In that case, no one else can decide for her. She needs to reflect on her true feelings. After all, isn’t society gradually becoming more accepting of same-sex relationships?”
“I see. I’ll pass on your advice and see what she says.”
Su Ya replied while pretending to type on her phone. In reality, her mind was a chaotic mess. Although there was no comparison between Xie Zeyu and Ling Ning, her family’s traditional values weighed heavily on her. Raised in a conservative household, she had always dismissed stories of same-sex couples as mere rumors. She never imagined she’d one day be caught up in such a situation herself.
“Ahhh!”
Su Ya suddenly grabbed her blanket and covered her head, her thoughts spiraling further into confusion. No matter how hard she tried to sort out her feelings, her mind remained in turmoil.
When Li Qian returned to the dorm and saw Su Ya tossing and turning on the bed, she asked curiously, “What’s up with Xiao Ya?”
“I don’t know. She’s been like this since she came back. Best not to disturb her. Wanna grab dinner with me if you haven’t eaten yet?”
“Sure, let me change first.”

"I wonder what Xiao Ya is thinking right now?" After her shower, Ling Ning stood on the balcony, looking at the brightly lit city. Thinking about what happened that afternoon gave her a warm, happy feeling.
After so many years, she had gotten to kiss Su Ya again. Just thinking about it made her a little excited. What could Su Ya be thinking about right now?
"Ling Ning, are you there?"
Hearing Xia You's voice from the neighboring balcony, Ling Ning paused before replying, "Yes, what's up?"
"Um, can I come over and sleep with you tonight?"
"Sure."
Though she didn't know why Xia You suddenly wanted to sleep together, it didn't matter. After all, sleeping while hugging Xia You was more comfortable.
Soon after, Xia You arrived at Ling Ning's door with her pillow. After letting her in, Ling Ning asked curiously, "Don't you need to make videos tonight, Xia You?"
"I've already finished and uploaded it."
"Eh!? Really? Let me watch it after I dry my hair."
Ling Ning said excitedly. She never missed any of Xia You's gaming guide videos - watching them was much more interesting than playing the games herself.
"I... I'll help you dry it."
"Okay~"
Usually, she only helped dry her daughter's hair, and only Xia You would help dry hers when she came over.
They went to the room, where Ling Ning sat at the computer and opened Xia You's latest video. She enjoyed Xia You's hair-drying while watching the video - it was perfect.
Seeing Ling Ning so focused, Xia You asked curiously, "Why don't you watch when I send you the video first every time?"
"Because there are no bullet comments! It's more fun to watch with them~" Ling Ning replied matter-of-factly.
"I see."
After drying her hair, Xia You leaned against Ling Ning, breathing in her faint fragrance, and asked, "Ling Ning, will you ever leave me?"
Ling Ning smiled and patted Xia You's head, saying, "No, I've always been by your side, haven't I?"
"Mm."
Xia You contentedly closed her eyes. If this were in a game, you could probably see hearts floating above her head and hear the sound of rapidly increasing affection points.
"What made you ask that suddenly?"
"Ling Ning, I..."
Just as Xia You was about to say something, Ling Ye opened the door.
After greeting Xia You, she ran straight into her mom's arms and handed over her towel—her intention was clear without words.
"What am I going to do with you~"
Taking the towel, Ling Ning gently started drying her daughter's hair, temporarily forgetting what she had wanted to ask Xia You.
Xia You unconsciously bit her lip. It was okay—the night was still young, and she believed she would definitely be able to say what she wanted to... if there weren't too many unexpected interruptions.
