Chapter 407 : The Shy Beauty
“Huh?!”
Ling Ning stared in stunned disbelief at the woman standing at the podium—her advisor, Bai Jie. While she knew Bai Jie was a teacher, she hadn’t expected her to be their advisor. The coincidence was mind-boggling.
Compared to Ling Ning’s shock, the male students in the classroom were thrilled. Not only did they have two stunning beauties in their class, but their advisor was also a beautiful, mature woman. It seemed their university life wouldn’t be so dull after all.
Seeing Ling Ning’s dumbfounded expression, Xia You leaned closer and whispered, “What’s wrong, Ling Ning? Do you know the advisor?”
“Well~ you could say we’re pretty familiar.”
When Bai Jie noticed Ling Ning among the students, she wasn’t surprised. She had already seen Ling Ning’s name on the class roster beforehand. Initially, she had doubted whether it was the same person, but after checking the detailed records, she confirmed it was indeed Ling Ning.
With a slight smile, Bai Jie turned to the blackboard and wrote her name, phone number, and the class group chat ID. “Here’s my contact information. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me.”
She then began explaining the school’s rules and regulations. The lengthy explanation wasn’t particularly interesting, so we’ll skip the details.
When Bai Jie mentioned military training, groans erupted throughout the classroom. Even Ling Ning looked as if her soul had left her body. Military training was something she detested—both in her past life and now. The painful memories alone were enough to make her shudder.
Bai Jie cleared her throat, and the class quickly quieted down. “Next, we’ll do introductions and elect class officers. Let’s start with introductions, going row by row.”
The first student, a boy, stood up nervously, and the introductions began.
Bored, Ling Ning rested her head on the desk as she listened to the boy speak. His hesitant and timid demeanor made her wonder: Is he really not gay?
It wasn’t long before it was her turn to introduce herself. Because they had arrived late, Ling Ning and Xia You had to sit toward the front, as the back rows were already taken. However, this arrangement didn’t bother her.
As Ling Ning stood up, many male students put down their phones and focused their attention on her. After all, finding out the interests of such a beautiful classmate was a priority.
Ignoring the stares, Ling Ning smiled gracefully and began, “Hello, everyone. My name is Ling Ning—‘Ling’ as in ‘gentle ripples of water,’ and ‘Ning’ as in ‘serenity of seven strings.’ I’m a local. My hobbies...”
She paused mid-sentence, realizing she almost blurted out “money and free lunches.” Catching herself in time, she continued, “My hobbies are watching anime and playing games. If anyone shares these interests, feel free to chat with me~”
Hearing this, many of the male students perked up. Anime and games? Those were right up their alley! Perhaps this was their chance to get closer to Ling Ning and—well, who knew what might happen after that?
As Ling Ning prepared to sit down, one of the boys suddenly asked, “Ling Ning, what kind of guys do you like?”
“Huh?” Ling Ning blinked, momentarily caught off guard. She wanted to say, I actually like girls, but thought better of it. Instead, she smiled and replied, “That’s a secret~”
Xia You’s introduction was much simpler. She stated her name and left it at that. Despite her brevity, her shy demeanor captured the attention of many male classmates.
After all, a timid beauty like her stirred strong protective instincts in others.
After the introductions, it was time to elect class officers. Ling Ning, uninterested, slumped over her desk. She had no desire to take on such a thankless position. She preferred a relaxed life, where earning a bit of pocket money was easier.
Watching the enthusiastic speeches of her classmates vying for officer roles, Ling Ning couldn’t help but sigh. “Ah, youth~”
Just then, her phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen and saw a message from Bai Jie:
“Xiao Ning, why don’t you run for class officer?”
Ling Ning looked up and saw Bai Jie smiling at her. At the same time, she overheard an excited boy behind her whisper, “The advisor smiled at me just now—her smile is amazing!”
“Weren’t you the one who said anyone over fourteen is an old lady?”
“Shut up! I’ve converted. I’m now a lover of mature women!”
“Traitor!”
Hearing their exchange, Ling Ning stifled a laugh and quickly replied to Bai Jie: “Sister, you know I have work commitments. If I become a class officer, I won’t have enough time for my job~”
After reading Ling Ning’s reply, Bai Jie nodded thoughtfully. She had forgotten that Ling Ning was also a professional model. For now, she decided to let it slide.

“Why did you decide to teach here, Sister?” Ling Ning asked Bai Jie after class.
“I’ve always been someone who can’t sit still,” Bai Jie replied with a smile. “When S University offered me a position, I thought, why not? If they hadn’t, I might’ve ended up teaching at your old school.”
“I see~”
Bai Jie glanced at Xia You, who was standing quietly behind Ling Ning. “This must be your friend. She seems quite shy~”
“Yes, this is Xia You, my good friend. Xia You, let me introduce you—this is Bai Yiyue’s mom!”
“Huh?!
Xia You exclaimed, startled. Now that Ling Ning mentioned it, she realized Bai Jie did bear a resemblance to Bai Yiyue. She hadn’t expected their advisor to be Bai Yiyue’s mother—it was a surprising revelation.
“Doesn’t she look like her?”
“Well... yes, but...”
Xia You trailed off, her gaze flickering between Bai Jie and her memory of Bai Yiyue. Then her eyes drifted to Bai Jie’s ample figure and compared it to Bai Yiyue’s... Perhaps it was a genetic anomaly?
“Let’s go. Lunch is on me today—you can’t refuse.”
“Alright.”
Ling Ning wouldn’t refuse. She had just been wondering what to do about lunch, and now a free meal had presented itself. What could be better than that?
