Chapter 386 : So Sleepy~
“Wow, it’s so big!”
Ling Ning looked around Ye Xuan’s new dormitory in surprise. It was only slightly smaller than the apartment Ling Ning was renting, but for one person, it was more than enough. Everything, from the furnishings to the decor, was brand new.
“This is a newly constructed faculty dormitory, just opened for use this year,” Ye Xuan explained.
If the new dorm hadn’t been this well-equipped, Ye Xuan might not have chosen to move in.
“Ah~ New dorms are so nice!”
Ye Xuan chuckled softly but didn’t say much. She quietly began unpacking the remaining items. Most of her belongings were already organized—these were just the things she had brought over today.
Seeing Ye Xuan get to work, Ling Ning hurried over to help. After all, back at Ye Xuan’s old dorm, she had promised to assist but had ended up falling asleep on the bed. If she didn’t help now, she’d feel too embarrassed.
With Ling Ning pitching in, the work went much faster. Before long, everything was unpacked and organized, and the bed linens were thrown into the washing machine.
As Ye Xuan glanced at Ling Ning, now sprawled out on the couch, she walked over and suggested, “How about I show you around the campus?”
“Eh? Shouldn’t we wait for the bed sheets to finish washing and hang them up first?”
“They won’t be done anytime soon. Let’s take a walk and hang them later—it’s the same either way.”
“Alright then!”
Downstairs, Ye Xuan headed toward her car, but Ling Ning quickly stopped her. “Um... I think we should just walk.”
“This campus is huge. Walking will be exhausting.”
Thinking back to her earlier nerve-wracking experience in Ye Xuan’s car, Ling Ning shook her head vigorously. “It’s fine! I’ve been sitting a lot lately—walking will do me good.”
Ye Xuan gave her a flat look but ultimately decided to heed Ling Ning’s suggestion. She fetched an umbrella from the car instead, as the sun was blazing.
Since the umbrella was just big enough for one person, the two had to walk close together. Ling Ning’s subtle fragrance wafted into Ye Xuan’s senses, leaving her feeling oddly content.
As they strolled, Ye Xuan gave a detailed introduction to each part of the campus they visited. After a while, Ling Ning asked curiously, “Ye Xuan, how do you know this campus so well?”
“I... graduated from here,” Ye Xuan replied casually.
“Eh?!”
Ling Ning blinked in surprise. She had no idea Ye Xuan was an alumna of S University. No wonder she was so familiar with the place. By that logic, Ye Xuan could technically be considered her senior.
As they chatted, a flashy sports car pulled up beside them. The window rolled down to reveal a handsome young man, who waved cheerfully in their direction.
“Ye Xuan, over here!”
Hearing the man’s voice, Ye Xuan frowned instinctively. *Why is this clingy pest here too?*
Noticing Ye Xuan’s expression, Ling Ning leaned closer and whispered, “Do you know him?”
“He’s... an old classmate.”
In addition to being her classmate, the man—Lin Hai—was also someone her family had set her up with for a matchmaking date. Ye Xuan had only agreed to the date as part of a deal with her father, who had helped her transfer to S University to stay close to Ling Ning.
Despite Ye Xuan’s explicit rejection during the date, Lin Hai remained undeterred, persistently pursuing her.
“What do you want, Lin Hai?”
“Don’t be so cold. After all, I’ll be your colleague soon!” Lin Hai replied with a grin.
“Colleague?” Ye Xuan frowned, a sense of unease creeping in.
“That’s right! I’ve been transferred here too,” Lin Hai said cheerfully, though his attention soon shifted to Ling Ning. His eyes lit up as he realized how stunning she was—much younger than Ye Xuan, likely a new student.
“This lovely lady looks unfamiliar. Aren’t you going to introduce us?”
“If you have something to say, say it. Otherwise, stop bothering me,” Ye Xuan snapped.
“I just wanted to ask if the two beautiful ladies need a ride somewhere,” Lin Hai offered.
“No, thank you,” Ye Xuan said curtly, turning away with Ling Ning in tow.
Her earlier good mood evaporated. All she wanted now was to relax by stroking Ling Ning’s long legs to soothe her irritation.
Lin Hai didn’t seem offended by the rejection. Parking his car nearby, he quickly caught up to them on foot.
Looking back at Lin Hai who was following not far behind them, Ling Ning said quietly: "He's following us again~"
"Just ignore him."
Although Ye Xuan didn't want to pay attention to Lin Hai, he clearly didn't want to just walk away. Soon after, Lin Hai shamelessly came over and started talking to them.
Seeing that Ye Xuan wasn't responding to him, he began deliberately trying to make conversation with Ling Ning beside her. In his view, a college freshman like her should be easy to talk to.
However, reality proved his assumption wrong. Although she would politely respond to whatever he said, the responses were just simple acknowledgments—he couldn't learn anything more about her.
He talked until his mouth was dry, yet he couldn't even get her name. This was ridiculous.
However, he did gain something—although he couldn't get her name from her directly, he learned it from one of Ye Xuan's slip-ups. So her name was Ling Ning—hmm, a nice name.
"Ladies, it's almost noon. Would you honor me by joining me for lunch?" Lin Hai checked the time and asked them with a full smile.
Seeing that Ye Xuan didn't want to speak, Ling Ning responded: "I'm very sorry, but we already have plans for lunch."
"That's alright, maybe next time then."
"If we have time."
This time Lin Hai didn't follow them—after all, they said they had plans, and it would be too rude to keep following them.
Watching their departing figures, Lin Hai's lips curled into a pleased smile—he liked it when the pursuit was challenging.
