How Could I Possibly Have a Daughter After Reincarnating?

Chapter 377 : Shocking! Wei Suozhai Actually Made His Own Sister Do This!

“Mom is the best in the world~”

Humming a cheerful tune, Ling Ye scrolled through her phone as she strolled leisurely through the neighborhood. After sitting all morning, stretching her legs felt great—though she could’ve done without the blazing sun overhead.

Up ahead, she noticed a petite girl with an adorable face, seemingly about her own age. The girl was also engrossed in her phone and completely oblivious to her surroundings.

As Ling Ye watched, the girl began to veer off course. Still glued to her phone, she walked straight into a lamppost. In Ling Ye’s wide-eyed disbelief, the girl then bent slightly forward and started apologizing... to the lamppost.

Ling Ye blinked. Is this girl what they call a natural airhead?

After a few moments, the girl seemed to realize something was off. She looked up and noticed that she had, in fact, walked into a lamppost. Embarrassed, she glanced around to see if anyone had witnessed her mishap—and her eyes landed on Ling Ye.

Her face turned bright red, and she froze in place like a deer caught in headlights.

Ling Ye sighed and walked over, shaking her head. “You dropped something.”

“Huh?”

The girl blinked in confusion before realizing her USB drive had fallen to the ground. She crouched down quickly to pick it up.

Ling Ye’s sharp eyes caught the design of the USB drive—it was identical to one she’d found a long time ago. The back of the USB drive even had the same words etched on it: “TOP SECRET.”

“Th-thank you.”

The girl said sincerely, bowing her head slightly. If Ling Ye hadn’t pointed it out, she might’ve walked off without realizing she’d lost it. The USB drive was something her brother had entrusted to her for safekeeping, and losing it would’ve been hard to explain.

“It’s better to avoid using your phone while walking~”

Ling Ye advised with a faint smile before turning and heading back toward her apartment. Lunchtime was nearing, and she didn’t want to miss it.

As she walked, Ling Ye thought of the USB drive. It reminded her of the “study materials” she hadn’t looked at in a while. Perhaps she’d spend the afternoon revisiting them.

The girl opened her mouth as if to ask Ling Ye’s name, but her shyness held her back. She sighed as she watched Ling Ye walk away. I really need to work on my personality, she thought.

Still, she took comfort in knowing that the girl probably lived in the same neighborhood. Sooner or later, their paths would cross again.

For now, though, she had a task to complete: returning the USB drive to her brother. She couldn’t understand why he insisted on having her retrieve it from his rental place instead of doing it himself.

Meanwhile, Wei Suozhai, seated at his computer and collecting “resources,” suddenly felt a sense of impending doom. His eyes brightened as he sprang up and walked to the front door. Sure enough, his younger sister Wei Lan was just about to enter.

“You’re back! So, how’d it go?” Wei Suozhai asked with an overly ingratiating smile. After all, this was a matter of great importance to him.

Wei Lan pulled two USB drives out of her pocket and handed them to her brother, her cheeks puffed up indignantly. “In this heat, you made your own sister fetch something from your rental place! Do you even have a conscience?”

“Well, I was busy!” Wei Suozhai replied sheepishly.

After losing five of his prized “treasures,” he no longer dared to carry USB drives with him. To make matters worse, his rental lease was expiring soon, and he had no choice but to ask his sister for help.

“Don’t forget what you promised me!”

“Of course, of course! Five pulls on your gacha account, right? I’ll do it tonight. Want me to handle the rolls for you?”

“No way!” Wei Lan shot her brother a disdainful look. As someone who had failed to pull even a single SSR after ten pulls, he was the last person she’d trust with her luck. She, on the other hand, had snagged one in just nine pulls.

“Mom, Mom, help me pull some gacha!”

Ling Ye bounded into the kitchen, her face alight with excitement, holding her phone in hand.

“Pull gacha? For what?”

Curious, Ling Ning took the phone from her daughter and saw that Ling Ye was playing FGO, a game she also played occasionally. However, since she never spent money on it, she only had about ten SSR cards, which made her a little sad.

“What are you aiming for?”

“Jeanne Alter!” Ling Ye replied eagerly.

“Alright.”

A single ten-pull, and Jeanne Alter appeared fully maxed. (A fantasy of the salted fish author.)

Watching her daughter’s giddy celebration, Ling Ning couldn’t help but smile wryly. It’s just a game. Is it really worth getting this worked up over?

Ling Ye eventually calmed down and returned to her computer. Mobile games were just a way to pass the time when she wasn’t on her PC or console.

“Want to play together, Mom?” Ling Ye offered, handing her a game controller.

Ling Ning shook her head with a smile and instead sat beside her daughter, pulling her into her lap. Holding Ling Ye close, she felt a wave of warmth and contentment wash over her.

“Ye Ye, it feels like it’s been forever since we’ve sat like this~”

“Ye Ye’s grown up. It’s not proper to act like a child anymore,” Ling Ye replied, though her heart was bursting with joy. Nothing compared to the comfort of her mom’s embrace.

“Really? You look like you’re enjoying it a lot, even though you’re saying you don’t. Could it be... Ye Ye’s a tsundere?”

“I’m not a tsundere!”

Ling Ye turned her head to argue, only to freeze. She felt something soft brush against her lips. Her years of sneaky experience told her instantly—it was her mom’s lips.

For a moment, Ling Ning stared at her daughter in surprise. Then she shrugged it off with a soft laugh. It’s just my daughter. What’s a little kiss?

“Mom, I...”

“What is it?”

“N-Nothing.”

Ling Ye quickly returned to her game, but her frequent mistakes made it clear that her mind was elsewhere.
