Chapter 329 : Are You Trying to Do That Again
“Agh, it’s just not working~”
Ling Ning sighed, setting the guitar aside and flopping onto Xu Qing’s bed. She was in Xu Qing’s room, where Xu Qing had just taught her some basic chords. After attempting a few strums, Ling Ning realized that her fingers were clumsy and uncoordinated. Playing the guitar seemed a lot harder than it looked.
Maybe it was because her shirt was a bit short, but lying down had pulled it up slightly, revealing her cute little belly button, giving her a surprisingly alluring look.
Xu Qing glanced at Ling Ning lying there, thinking that her friend’s figure was almost unfairly perfect—no extra weight anywhere. Xu Qing, on the other hand, had to watch what she ate carefully to avoid gaining weight. With days spent mostly at home and little exercise, she wondered if she’d put on a few pounds recently.
“It’s only the first lesson. You’re doing pretty well. If you keep practicing, you’ll definitely get the hang of it,” Xu Qing reassured her.
“Yeah, I know, but let’s call it a day for now~” Ling Ning said lazily, stretching out even more. She understood that learning guitar wouldn’t happen overnight, and she mostly wanted to try it just for fun. If she succeeded, great; if not, it was no big deal. It was like when she’d learned a bit of manga from her disciple Jiang Xue—fun, but not a serious pursuit.
It seemed she really didn’t have a knack for guitar after all.
Xu Qing just chuckled, lying down next to her on the bed. She took in Ling Ning’s light fragrance, listening to the faint sounds of a guitar from the other room, where her sister and her friends were still practicing.
If only Ling Ning could stay by my side like this forever, Xu Qing thought to herself.
After a while, she broke the silence, “Hey, Ling Ning, do you remember when we first met?”
“Hmm?” Almost half asleep, Ling Ning opened her eyes and thought for a moment. “Wasn’t it at that bubble tea shop where I used to work?”
“Yeah, you remember~”
“Of course. Hard to believe it’s been three years since then. Has it really been that long?”
“Actually, we still have three days left until it’s been exactly three years~” Xu Qing said with a playful smile.
Ling Ning blinked in surprise. She hadn’t expected Xu Qing to remember the exact day they’d met down to the date.
“You were so distant back then, always with that ‘keep away from me’ expression. Honestly, you almost scared me off~”
Xu Qing said, glancing at Ling Ning’s elegant face. Back then, she’d thought Ling Ning was like an unapproachable snow lotus atop a mountain. After getting to know her, though, she realized that Ling Ning was more like a beautiful yet dangerously addictive poppy flower—once caught, she was impossible to let go of.
Ling Ning gave a sheepish smile. “Well, we didn’t know each other back then.”
“By the way, Ling Ning, your figure really is amazing—not an ounce of extra weight,” Xu Qing remarked, gently placing her hand on Ling Ning’s exposed belly. She tried to keep her tone casual, but her heart was pounding. Though she’d been playful with Ling Ning many times before, today felt different, though she couldn’t pinpoint why.
Ling Ning didn’t mind Xu Qing’s casual touch. She knew her friend was a bit handsy; she’d been this way since their school days, so it didn’t bother her. Besides, Xu Qing was nothing like her mischievous friend Xia You, so there was no need to worry.
As Xu Qing’s hand brushed over Ling Ning’s smooth, flat stomach, a contented smile appeared on her face. Ling Ning’s skin was incredibly soft—satisfying to the touch.
“W-wait, it’s fine to touch my stomach, but not my waist—haha! That tickles!” Ling Ning’s body twisted involuntarily, laughter escaping her as Xu Qing’s fingers found her ticklish spots.
“Oh? You’re ticklish, Ling Ning?”
Xu Qing’s eyes lit up, as if discovering a hidden treasure. With a quick, playful grin, she straddled Ling Ning and launched a full tickle assault. Ling Ning was completely helpless, unable to fight back against the sudden onslaught.
After a while, Xu Qing looked down at her friend, who lay beneath her, breathless and flushed from all the laughter. Ling Ning’s clothes were disheveled, and her face was red. If anyone else had walked in, they’d probably get the wrong idea about what had just happened.
She hadn’t expected Ling Ning to be so sensitive. Just a few light tickles, and she was already so defenseless. Xu Qing couldn’t resist a smirk at her friend’s lack of resilience—there was barely any challenge in teasing her like this.
“This is the first time I’ve ever seen you so flustered, Ling Ning.”
“That doesn’t count—you caught me off guard!” Ling Ning protested, indignant. She hadn’t expected Xu Qing to suddenly tickle her, and if she’d been prepared, she could’ve at least put up some resistance!
“Oh? Are you saying you want to go again?”
“No, that’s not necessary~” Ling Ning conceded quickly, knowing her limits. She was well aware of her lack of physical strength, and Xu Qing regularly exercised. Even if she’d tried, she wouldn’t stand a chance against her friend.
“Oh, come on~”
Xu Qing looked disappointed. She’d been hoping Ling Ning would accept, giving her a chance to indulge in teasing her friend even more. Opportunities like this to tease Ling Ning were rare.
“Alright, it’s almost noon. Let’s prepare some lunch for the kids. Are your parents working today? Will they be home for lunch?” Ling Ning asked, realizing she hadn’t seen Xu Qing’s parents since she arrived. It was a weekday, so they were probably at work.
“Yeah, they usually eat at the office, so we just need to make lunch for ourselves. Or, we could just order takeout. It’s faster, and we don’t have to go out.”
Xu Qing usually preferred takeout, as her cooking skills weren’t reliable without someone guiding her through the process. Left to her own devices, her cooking often ended up inedible.
“I’ll handle lunch. It’s just the three kids and us, so it won’t take much. Did you forget that cooking is my specialty?”
“Alright… but the fridge is empty, so we’ll have to go out for groceries first.”
“Then let’s go and come back quickly.”
