Chapter 275 : Night ‘Beep’ Disease ‘Beep’
“What do I do…?”
Nanase Ren looked around helplessly at the growing crowd of onlookers. She had just wanted to ask for directions, so how had things escalated like this? There had only been a few people here a moment ago.
Realizing that standing around wouldn’t solve anything, she summoned her courage and said in Japanese, “Excuse me, does anyone here understand Japanese? I need help finding the Tobion Grand Hotel.”
Unfortunately, few in the crowd could understand Japanese. Even those who knew a few common phrases didn’t react to her words.
Growing more desperate, Nanase Ren tried again in English, but still, no one responded. At this point, she was panicking, regretting that she hadn’t learned some Chinese before her trip to China. She’d thought she’d be able to rely on her phone for directions or to call her parents if she got lost.
But why, why hadn’t she charged her phone last night? Why did she go out alone? And taking the bus, of all things! Now she was lost, with no way to reach anyone—she felt completely hopeless.
“Excuse me, are you lost?”
Just as she was reaching her limit, a pleasant female voice broke through her anxious thoughts. Most importantly, the woman had spoken in Japanese, albeit a little awkwardly, but it was definitely Japanese.
Following the voice, Nanase Ren saw a stylish girl looking at her and repeating her question.
Yes, this was Ling Ning. She had observed the situation for a moment before deciding to step in. The girl looked on the verge of tears, and with the crowd continuing to grow, Ling Ning was worried that if she didn’t intervene, some ill-intentioned person might try to take advantage of her.
Humans are naturally drawn to a spectacle, no matter the size or nature of the event. When something interesting happens, people gather without a second thought.
Nanase Ren hurried over, her eyes filled with relief. “Do you really understand Japanese?”
Ling Ning nodded. She could handle basic Japanese, having studied it in her previous life to play some games that hadn’t been translated into Chinese. She’d even taken a class, but that was a long time ago.
“Let’s talk somewhere quieter, okay?”
“Yes, yes!” Nanase Ren nodded enthusiastically. She’d been wanting to leave the scene for a while; being surrounded by strangers was incredibly stressful.

As they strolled along the sidewalk, Ling Ning learned more about the young woman from Japan. Her name was Nanase Ren, and she was in China because her parents had business there, so she had come along to broaden her horizons.
As for how she’d gotten lost, we’ve already covered that. To avoid accusations of padding, let’s just say we’ll skip over the minor details and add a few extra lines here instead.
Upon hearing Nanase Ren’s name, Ling Ning felt a pang of familiarity, like she’d heard it somewhere before. Then she remembered—wasn’t it the name of a character in a certain popular “adult” anime from her previous life? Night ‘Something’ Disease ‘Something,’ or something like that.
Li Qian and Li Meng, who had been quietly watching, were shocked to see Ling Ning speaking Japanese. She had started off hesitantly, with each sentence taking ages to come out, but now she was speaking fluently. They, of course, didn’t understand a word and could only stand by in confusion, thankful that Ling Ning was translating here and there.
“Oh, right,” Ling Ning said, suddenly remembering something. “I think the Tobion Grand Hotel is pretty far from here. How did you end up all the way over here?”
“B-because I took the bus…” Nanase Ren admitted, embarrassed. She’d been relying on her phone’s GPS and hadn’t anticipated her phone would die, and she’d even forgotten her power bank. Thankfully, she’d met Ling Ning—otherwise, she really wouldn’t have known what to do.
“Ling Ning, can we go eat now? I’m starving!”
Li Qian, who’d been patiently waiting on the side, finally spoke up. After all, their original plan was to go to dinner, and now they’d managed to pick up a foreign friend along the way.
Hearing Li Qian’s reminder, Ling Ning realized her own stomach was feeling empty. She’d left without even having breakfast to save room for lunch since Li Qian was treating.
She glanced at Nanase Ren and said, “Ren, why don’t you join us for lunch? My treat! You can try some authentic Chinese cuisine~”
“Eh? N-no, that’s okay. I’m not hungry… and I need to get back,” Nanase Ren stammered, her face turning red.
Right then, her stomach growled, soft but unmistakable. Ling Ning caught the sound clearly and smiled.
“Don’t worry. You can head back after we eat, and I’ll help you get a taxi. Plus, you’re still using my power bank to charge your phone, aren’t you?”
“Well… okay…”
“Great! Besides, I’d love to learn more about Japanese culture.”
Truthfully, before she’d been reincarnated, Ling Ning had been planning a trip to Japan. She’d even booked her tickets but had unexpectedly crossed over a few days before departure. She’d been looking forward to visiting Akihabara and learning about Japanese cuisine. Nanase Ren seemed to know a lot about cooking, so this was an opportunity Ling Ning didn’t want to miss.

Author’s Note:
I totally don’t know anything about “Night Something Disease Something.” And remember, this Nanase Ren is different from that Nanase Ren—they’re two separate people.
Next, it’s time for another wholesome book recommendation: The Dusk Sword Princess/ 黄昏剑姬 by Shen Ji.
Why is the three-no lord constantly groping?
What is making the elegant sword princess roam the streets at night?
Why did the good girl Gabrielle sprout wings?
Many of you may have read Shen Ji’s old book After Turning into My Own Avatar/变成自己头像之后. His new work won’t disappoint!
