Chapter 255 : Don’t Bite My Ear!
“Let’s put the vanity over there—perfect. Alright, that’s it. Thanks, everyone!”
Under Ling Ning’s direction, the last piece of furniture was finally in place. She looked around the room with satisfaction. Although it had been a while since she’d played The Sims, her eye for interior design hadn’t dulled one bit.
“Is everything done now?” Bai Yiyue asked, looking around her transformed room after the movers left.
“Pretty much. All that’s left is arranging the smaller items I bought yesterday, but for now, let’s take a break~”
With that, Ling Ning plopped down on Bai Yiyue’s bed. The soft mattress beneath her was so inviting, and after staying up late working on her novel last night, she felt an overwhelming urge to nap. If her daughter hadn’t woken her, she might still be in bed right now.
Seeing Ling Ning lying on her bed, Bai Yiyue instinctively swallowed. She looked so tempting right now, and not doing something would feel like such a missed opportunity.
Just as Ling Ning closed her eyes to relax, she felt something press down on her. Opening her eyes, she found Bai Yiyue straddling her.
“Stop messing around~”
“Come on, Ling Ning, just one little kiss?” Bai Yiyue asked, looking at her with pleading eyes.
“No way~”
“What, are you afraid because you’re a bad kisser?” Bai Yiyue teased.
“How could…! That’s impossible—I’m not falling for that!”
Taking advantage of Bai Yiyue’s momentary distraction, Ling Ning flipped them both, pinning Bai Yiyue beneath her. She looked down at her, smirking in triumph.
It was the first time Ling Ning had been so close to Bai Yiyue, close enough to hear her soft breaths. She noticed how long Bai Yiyue’s lashes were, how pretty her eyes looked, and how inviting her slightly parted lips seemed. Would kissing her feel as good as it looked?
Staring up at Ling Ning, Bai Yiyue froze for a moment before smirking back. With a playful smile, she whispered, “If it’s you, Ling Ning, I’d love it~” She then slowly ran her small tongue over her lips, making them look even more enticing.
An unmistakable tension filled the air.
Just as their lips were about to meet, the door burst open, and Xiao Dong Xue walked in. She tilted her head, staring at the strange pose of the two women on the bed. Fortunately, Dong Xue was too young to grasp the meaning of the situation.
“X-Xiao Xue! Did you need something from me?” Ling Ning asked with an awkward smile, quickly pulling herself off Bai Yiyue and breathing a sigh of relief. Thank goodness it was Dong Xue and not Bai Jie who had walked in—she’d have had no idea how to explain things then.
As if summoned by her thoughts, Bai Jie also entered the room. She took in the sight of Ling Ning sitting at the edge of the bed and her daughter lying there, looking slightly disheveled and flushed. A sense that she’d missed something important lingered in her mind.
However, Bai Jie didn’t dwell on it, assuming they were just goofing around like any two friends.
“I just came to see if you needed any help,” Bai Jie said, scanning the room and noting that they’d done an excellent job with the setup.
“N-No, everything’s pretty much done. Just a bit of tidying left,” Ling Ning replied, trying to sound as natural as possible.
“Alright, then. I’ll go start on dinner,” Bai Jie said, leaving the room.
When Bai Jie was gone, Ling Ning let out a long sigh. Thankfully, she hadn’t caught them in a compromising position.
Bai Yiyue sat up and wrapped her arms around Ling Ning from behind, whispering, “You seemed pretty tense just now~” She blew softly into Ling Ning’s ear as she spoke.
“T-That’s because you started it!” Ling Ning stammered, blushing slightly. She hadn’t expected her ear to be so sensitive, and the feeling was… odd.
Seeing her reaction, Bai Yiyue’s excitement grew. She opened her mouth and gently bit Ling Ning’s cute, small earlobe.
“Ah~”
A tingling sensation spread through Ling Ning’s body, leaving her feeling weak. Her cheeks turned a light shade of pink.
Xiao Dong Xue watched them curiously, completely unaware of what was going on. Why was Bai Yiyue biting Ling Ning’s ear, and why did Ling Ning look so happy about it?
As the atmosphere between them grew tense again, the door swung open once more. Bai Jie stood there.
“Oh, I forgot to ask what you want for dinner.”
Bai Jie looked at her daughter and Ling Ning, slightly puzzled by the redness in Ling Ning’s cheeks. She failed to notice the glistening hint on Ling Ning’s right ear—if she had, she might’ve picked up on more than she did.
“Anything’s fine!” Bai Yiyue replied with a hint of frustration. She’d been this close. Ling Ning had almost been hers to do with as she pleased, but that perfect chance was ruined. It was maddening!
“Alright…” Bai Jie shrugged and closed the door again.
The moment the door clicked shut, Bai Yiyue lunged forward to hug Ling Ning again. But Ling Ning was ready. The second the door closed, she sprang off the bed like a startled rabbit, fixing Bai Yiyue with a wary glare.
“I’m warning you—stay away from my ears! If you try anything else, I’ll get mad! And when I’m mad, I bite back!”
Bai Yiyue grinned, amused by Ling Ning’s reaction. She felt like she’d discovered an adorable weakness of hers. She knew some girls were sensitive about their ears, but she’d never seen anyone respond so intensely as Ling Ning did.
Well, that only made it better, didn’t it?

Author’s Note:
Three chapters down! How about some tip love from you amazing folks?
Oh, and don’t forget to check out my buddy’s new novel I Might Not Be the Real King Arthur/我可能是假的亚瑟王.
In it, the “King Arthur” isn’t actually a woman.
The “Merlin” isn’t a bearded old man either.
The “Lady of the Lake” doesn’t wield a holy sword but a hefty hammer.
And “Lancelot” turns out to be dainty and beautiful.
