How Could I Possibly Have a Daughter After Reincarnating?

Chapter 215 : The Most 9 Brilliant Wife

“This… This can’t be! How could I, of all people, get lost around my own neighborhood?! This is impossible!”

Chen Ruo stood at an intersection, completely bewildered as she looked at the familiar surroundings. She was definitely near her home, but that only made things worse; despite the familiarity, she had no idea which way to go.

It felt like she should go straight, but there was also a strong urge to turn back. Maybe left? Or could it be right?

"Which way am I supposed to go?!"

Chen Ruo was completely lost. Her daughter had gone out for the day, leaving her home alone, bored and drawing manga. But then disaster struck—she’d run out of her precious spicy snacks.

For Chen Ruo, spicy snacks were her source of inspiration. Without them, she didn’t know how she could possibly work. So, after thinking it over, she decided to venture to the nearby convenience store to restock.

Her daughter had explicitly forbidden her from going out alone when she wasn’t home, but Chen Ruo, the most brilliant ⑨ wife in the world, wouldn’t let that stop her. Besides, the store was less than 300 meters away—no way she could get lost… right?

But here she was, proving herself wrong.

Originally, she’d thought ahead and made mental notes for herself: go straight 20 meters after leaving the building, then turn left and go 50 meters out of the complex…

However, the moment she stepped outside, she’d encountered a wild husky. Though some dogs looked cute to her, Chen Ruo had a childhood fear of dogs after being bitten, and the sight of one made her tense up.

So when the husky charged at her, she’d bolted without thinking. By the time she came back to her senses, she couldn’t remember where she was, even though the area felt vaguely familiar—probably near her house.

But even with familiar surroundings, Chen Ruo had no idea how to get back. It seemed her sense of direction was getting worse by the day.

“Oh, if only someone would rescue me! I’d reward them with… with ten packs—no, maybe five packs—of spicy snacks as thanks.” Chen Ruo clasped her hands in front of her chest in a gesture of fervent prayer.

Nearby passersby glanced curiously at her, wondering why this girl was making such a strange gesture. Was she a devout believer in Madokami, praying to her in the middle of the street?

Seeing this, a few people who happened to follow the “Madokami” fandom mimicked her pose and began their own prayers.

When Chen Ruo opened her eyes, she was startled by a face right in front of her. Realizing who it was, she relaxed. “Ling Ning! What are you doing here?”

“I was just out for a walk and saw you standing here. Judging by the look on your face, it seems like you’re lost… again,” Ling Ning said with an amused smile.

It happened to be one of her two monthly days off, and with her daughter spending time with a friend and not coming back for lunch, Ling Ning had decided to pick up groceries to cook for herself. She hadn’t expected to run into Chen Ruo again. Fate sure had a way of bringing them together.

“Wha—there’s no way I could be lost! I’m right by my own house. How could someone as smart as I am get lost?” Chen Ruo protested, though her expression betrayed her words.

Ling Ning chuckled, giving her a knowing look. “Well, if you’re not lost, I’ll head on my way.”

As Ling Ning turned to leave, Chen Ruo panicked and grabbed her hand. If Ling Ning left, she’d truly have no idea how to get home.

“Okay… I’m lost,” Chen Ruo admitted, blushing in embarrassment. She was an adult, yet here she was, getting lost so close to her own home—utterly humiliating.

“Ah, I see. Then allow me to walk you home,” Ling Ning said with mock realization.

“Oh, um… could we stop by the convenience store for some spicy snacks first?” Chen Ruo asked hesitantly.

Ling Ning nodded. “Sure, though it seems you’re quite a fan of those snacks, aren’t you?” She recalled seeing Chen Ruo in the store many times, always stocking up on them. Ling Ning half-wondered if spicy snacks were all Chen Ruo ate.

At the mention of spicy snacks, Chen Ruo’s eyes lit up, and she eagerly grasped Ling Ning’s hand. “Oh, you don’t understand! Spicy snacks are the best food in the world…”

She went on and on, praising the joys of spicy snacks, leaving Ling Ning to wonder if she’d been eating the wrong kind all along.

“They’re junk food, though. You can’t eat too many,” Ling Ning pointed out.

“Well, I only eat them while working. If I eat too many, my daughter scolds me,” Chen Ruo replied, a bit sullen.

Hearing Chen Ruo mention her daughter, Ling Ning suddenly realized that the little "tag-along" who usually followed Chen Ruo wasn’t around. She felt a bit curious.

Then again, if her daughter had been there, Chen Ruo wouldn’t have gotten lost in the first place.

Shaking her head, Ling Ning led Chen Ruo to the nearby convenience store. It was a simple path: walk 50 meters straight ahead, then turn right. The store’s sign was even visible from the previous spot if one bothered to look up.

Ling Ning still couldn’t fathom how Chen Ruo hadn’t managed to find the store herself.

“Here you go.” While Ling Ning was momentarily lost in thought, Chen Ruo handed her five packs of spicy snacks from her cart, reluctantly offering them as if parting with treasure.

"Huh?"

“These are for you, as a thank-you, Ling Ning!” Chen Ruo said earnestly.

Ling Ning looked amused, taking only one of the packs. “One pack will be plenty, really.”
