Chapter 160 : Humans Are Like Ants
"So, how does it feel? Nervous about your first time flying?"
Ling Ning smiled warmly at her daughter. The three of them were currently sitting on a plane, waiting for takeoff. Ling Ye's expression still seemed a bit dazed, as if the whole thing didn’t quite feel real.
After all, she had only casually mentioned wanting to see the snow and fireworks, and suddenly her mom had arranged a "Three-Day Luxury Hot Spring and Fireworks Festival in D City for a Family of Three." Even if it had been won through a lottery, it still felt too coincidental.
It wasn’t just Ling Ye who was baffled—even Xia You had been left bewildered. A few days ago, Ling Ning had asked her out of nowhere if she wanted to go to a hot spring and watch fireworks. At the time, Xia You had been confused as to why Ling Ning was asking, but she instinctively nodded her head.
Then Ling Ning told her to get ready for the trip. Now, Xia You finally understood why—but it still felt a bit unreal.
Reality or not, they were on the plane now, so it didn’t matter what they thought.
As they sat there, lost in their thoughts, the plane began to move. Ling Ye watched the scene outside the window with curiosity. She had always wondered what it would feel like when a plane took off.
Xia You, also on her first flight, peered out the window with equal curiosity, though her view was somewhat limited since she was sitting in the aisle seat.
As for Ling Ning, she had already closed her eyes, trying to rest. She had taken countless flights in her previous life, and her fear of heights seemed to have gotten even worse in this life, so it was better to keep her eyes shut and avoid looking at anything that might make her legs weak.
Despite wanting to rest, her daughter had other ideas.
"Mom, Mom! Look, humans are just like ants." Ling Ye spoke in an exaggerated tone, her voice filled with an air of drama.
Ling Ning almost wanted to cry in exasperation at her daughter’s words. She asked helplessly, "Ye Ye, who did you pick up this nonsense from?"
"Sister Xiaoning~" Ling Ye responded as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
"Don't learn those things from your Sister Xiaoning anymore, alright? It's an illness, you know?" Ling Ning said sternly, looking at her daughter. The last thing she wanted was for Ling Ye to start spouting these kinds of edgy lines at her every day. Sure, she understood them, but just because she understood didn’t mean she liked them.
And why did Ling Ning understand? Well, that was another story.
"But why, though? I think it sounds really cool when I talk like this," Ling Ye protested.
"Just trust your mom on this one!" Ling Ning couldn't even begin to explain, so she decided to end the conversation there.
After that, she tried once again to close her eyes and rest.
"Mom, Mom! Look, isn't that Mount Akina? And over there—that's the Firelink Shrine, right? Everything looks so tiny from here!"
"Oh."
"Mom, Mom! Look at that white cloud!"
"Mhm."
"Mom, Mom! Look, there's a salted fish flying in the sky..."
"Uh..."
As she listened to her daughter's constant chattering, Ling Ning found herself mentally running through a checklist—Did she turn off the faucet at home? Did she lock the door properly?
Even though she'd confirmed everything before they left, as soon as they got out, these doubts crept in again.

After enduring her daughter's chatter the entire flight, Ling Ning finally arrived at their destination. Honestly, she had to hand it to Ling Ye—the girl just couldn't stop talking.
As soon as the three of them stepped off the plane, they were hit by the cold wind, almost completely incapacitated by it. There had been heating on the plane, so they hadn’t paid much attention to the weather, only to step out and be greeted by falling snow.
It was Ling Ye's first time seeing real snow, and although it was freezing, she found the silvery world beautiful.
Fortunately, they were prepared; once they were inside the airport, they quickly pulled on the extra layers they had brought along. Once bundled up, they finally felt some relief.
They hailed a cab from the airport and headed straight for their destination—a resort nestled in the mountains, somewhat far from the city. The hot spring and snowy scenery were there, while the fireworks festival would be held in a nearby village. Apparently, it was quite an event, with many people coming to watch every year.
Though the drive was long, the sight of the snow-covered world kept everyone entertained. They rarely got to see snow, and this was their first time experiencing such a view, so naturally, curiosity and excitement abounded.
Ling Ning, however, was the exception. In her previous life, she had once lived in the northern regions for a while. For someone who hated the cold, it hadn’t been an enjoyable experience.
After a long journey, they finally arrived at their destination—Shisui Villa. Once Ling Ning presented their tickets for the three-day tour, a lovely blonde with natural curls escorted them to their room.
It was a spacious room with only one large bed, meaning the three of them would have to squeeze in together that night. Fortunately, the bed was quite big, so it wouldn’t be a problem.
After dropping off their things, Ling Ning checked the time—it was nearly past lunchtime, which explained why she felt so hungry.
The group then headed to the dining hall. The "luxury three-day tour" package also covered meals, which was perfect for someone like Ling Ning, who loved free food.
Even though they were slightly past lunchtime, the dining area was still bustling with people, indicating that the resort was quite popular.
The food was excellent, though it might have been because they were so hungry. Regardless, the three of them cleared their plates in no time, still feeling as if they hadn’t had enough.
After eating, Ling Ning inquired with the staff about nearby attractions and activities.
She received a map that marked out all the nearby points of interest and available facilities. With just this map, they could explore everything the area had to offer—no guide needed.
With map in hand, Ling Ning led the others out. After all, with such a great opportunity, it would be a waste to spend the time sleeping. Xia You had even brought her camera, so it was the perfect chance to take some nice pictures.
Ling Ning hadn't known that Xia You owned a camera, and it looked like a pretty high-end one at that. Judging by Xia You's photography skills, she was clearly much better than Ling Ning, who was just an amateur.
She wondered where Xia You had learned to be so good at it—it was impressive.
