Chapter 417 - 354: don’t compare
"Yes, Leila," Aurianna replied telepathically, a small smile appearing on her face the moment she heard her sister’s voice.
"You saw Big Sister too, right?" Leila asked curiously.
And Aurianna immediately replied, "Yes, I did. What about you?"
"Me too. She gave you those strange Gemaris hearts, right?" Leila asked.
At that very moment, Leila too was lying down peacefully on healthy green grass in her own world while staring up at the night sky filled with countless stars.
"Yes, same for me," Aurianna stated softly.
"Well, Big Sister truly treats us equally. I mean, I honestly would’ve gotten angry at her if she started playing favorites," Leila giggled lightly.
"Me too. But it’s honestly comforting knowing she came for us. Though this entire situation was pretty terrifying... it was also strangely exciting. I’ve never experienced a battle like that before in my entire life," Leila admitted solemnly.
"Same here, but I was genuinely terrified. I mean, what if I had actually died? I still haven’t accomplished all my goals yet. I haven’t completed my revenge. And my friends would’ve died too. Honestly, everything would’ve completely sucked," Aurianna said with a tired sigh.
"That’s true. I wanted to protect the people I care about too, after all," Leila replied quietly.
"We’re kinda similar," Aurianna giggled softly.
"Yeah. After all, we are twins," Leila chuckled warmly.
"So, Leila, what did you get as your soul weapons?" Aurianna asked curiously, clearly interested.
"Well, I got gauntlets, some kind of combat shoes... I forgot what they’re called but it was cool. And then I also got a broadsword. That’s what the other versions of me that attacked my world transformed into," Leila explained.
"And have you also met those crystal people?" Aurianna asked.
"Yeah, I’ve met them. I haven’t really spoken to them properly yet, but I’ll eventually try talking to them," Leila replied.
"Okay, cool, cool," Aurianna said with a nod.
"So, Aurianna, what did yours turn into?" Leila asked curiously.
"Well, I got a staff, a saber, and a clock," Aurianna answered casually.
"Good, good, good," Leila said quickly. "Those honestly don’t sound bad at all. I mean, those people literally deserved what happened to them after everything they put us through."
"Yeah, they totally deserved it because the way they attacked us was honestly cowardly... but at the same time, I kinda understand them," Aurianna admitted quietly.
"Yeah, me too. I mean, after seeing their memories from the hearts we devoured and watching how easily Iris killed so many of them, it makes sense they’d become terrified and desperately try to preserve their lives," Leila stated.
"Yeah... after all, who wouldn’t want to survive? Imagine some random person suddenly appearing from another dimension just to kill you for reasons you don’t even understand. Sure, Iris had her reasons, but from their perspective, she simply appeared and slaughtered them for no reason while destroying their planets and worlds. Realistically speaking, they had every right to hate her. But since she’s our sister... we still have to support her," Aurianna stated sadly.
"Yeah... it honestly sucks, but we have no choice except to stand on our sister’s side. Still, it really makes me wonder just how strong Iris actually is," Leila wondered aloud.
"Ever since the system stopped showing us her level, it’s become impossible to properly understand her strength," Aurianna said with a sigh.
’Where even is that system anyway?’ Aurianna wondered silently to herself.
"But honestly, it’s obvious she’s unimaginably strong if she could kill all of them that easily. Those were enemies we struggled so much against. I could barely even fight against Number Four properly one-on-one. And I didn’t even get the chance to fight the others because Big Sister killed them first. Seeing all that honestly made me feel weak and helpless. What was I even thinking trying to challenge people like that? If Iris hadn’t indirectly helped us, we probably would’ve died way earlier," Aurianna admitted, her voice trembling slightly as tears almost formed in her eyes.
"That’s true, sis, but Iris is completely different from us. So it’s honestly better if we don’t compare ourselves to her. Otherwise, we’ll just end up feeling gloomy, depressed, and pathetic," Leila said seriously. "Her growth rate and circumstances are completely different from ours. So we should focus on growing at our own pace instead. And honestly? I think we’re already becoming really strong. We’re doing pretty well so far."
"That’s true... Also, sister, I miss you so much. We should definitely meet up again inside the Domain Prison," Aurianna stated happily.
"Once we finish sorting everything out in our worlds, definitely, sister. And we need to train much harder so something like this never happens again," Leila replied firmly.
"Understood, sister," Aurianna replied obediently.
"See you later then. I have to go now. Bye, sister," Leila said warmly.
"Contact me again whenever you’re free!" Aurianna quickly replied.
The telepathic connection soon faded.
Aurianna slowly got up from the grass before walking back inside the house, only to see Peter sitting quietly on the couch.
He was staring down at his phone with a deep frown while reading something before eventually putting it away.
"Peter, are you alright?" Aurianna asked immediately after noticing the tense expression on his face.
"Yes, I’m fine. Also... that thing Bomb placed inside you. Are you sure you’re alright?" Aurianna asked carefully, remembering how Bomb had done something strange to Peter earlier.
"So... yeah, I’m fine. I think she was trying to force her former lover’s soul to reincarnate into my body, but it failed. However, I still ended up gaining his memories along with some of his powers," Peter explained while tapping the side of his head with a small awkward smile. "Though I’m still having trouble controlling everything properly, but I think I’ll manage somehow."
"Well, that’s good to hear," Aurianna said with a relieved smile. "Because if she had succeeded, I would’ve personally ripped that imposter’s soul out of your body," Aurianna stated coldly.
"Well... I guess my soul is just built differently," Peter chuckled nervously.
"I wonder why though. Are you some kind of special existence or something?" Aurianna wondered aloud as she slowly leaned closer toward him, staring directly into his eyes.
Peter immediately became nervous and instinctively avoided her gaze.
Aurianna eventually sighed before sitting down beside him on the couch.
"Also, Aurianna... there’s something I need to tell you," Peter suddenly said while looking at her seriously.
"Yeah? What is it?" Aurianna asked curiously.
