Chapter 25
Chapter 25: Psychological Profiling, Absolute Slaughter
The footage on screen was paused.
The image froze on that silhouette in a black shirt, both hands in his pockets.
Wan Changzheng and Zhao Yan exchanged a glance, their expressions more grave than either had ever shown before.
"Xiao Zhao, you've commanded troops. You see it too, don't you?"
Wan Changzheng asked in a low voice.
"Yes, Commander."
Zhao Yan pointed at the figure on screen, his tone iron-firm.
"From this guy's posture alone! And that kind of calm when facing an S-Grade monster…I'd stake my head on it!"
"There is absolutely no way this man is a student! Impossible!"
"Even through a screen and a cable, I can smell it on him!"
"This guy's hands are drenched in blood and corpses! He's probably killed more people than I've seen dead bodies!"
"How could someone raised in an ivory tower possibly have this kind of composure—treating human lives like blades of grass?"
Off to the side, Shen Lian was constructing a psychological profiling model in her mind.
"Agreed."
"Based on his body language and psychological resilience analysis, I've arrived at several high-probability conclusions."
Shen Lian turned her tablet around. Several professions were listed on the screen.
"These are the most likely true identities of 'No Words Needed' before he arrived in the Savage Realm."
Wan Changzheng and Zhao Yan read through the list and nodded repeatedly.
"That tracks."
Zhao Yan rubbed his chin. "All of these professions involve constant exposure to death."
"And with those specific qualifiers you added in parentheses, they do match the kind of detachment he displays."
"Anything else?" Zhao Yan asked.
"Quite a few more, but the statistical probability for the rest is very low."
Shen Lian said plainly, "These 4 account for over 90% combined."
"As for the rest…I don't think you'd want to know."
The moment those words landed, Zhao Yan's contrarian personality instantly flared up.
He narrowed his eyes. "What do you mean I wouldn't want to know? I specifically want to hear the lowest-probability one! Just that one!"
Shen Lian let out a quiet sigh, gave him a look reserved for fools, and without wasting another word, spat out 2 words.
"Psychiatric patient."
"Severe schizophrenia. Multiple personalities. And those personalities collectively encompass every single profession listed above."
"……"
Zhao Yan's mouth twitched violently. "Der~"
"Forget I asked."
"How could there possibly be someone that abstract? Is he even human?"
"Alright, alright."
Wan Changzheng waved a hand, cutting off Zhao Yan's complaints.
"Stop fixating on his identity. Whoever he is, as long as he's one of ours from Huaxia, that's what matters."
"Let's keep watching."
He clicked play.
The footage resumed.
Immediately after, the boy lying on the ground let out a desperate, throat-shredding shout.
But because it involved intelligence disclosure, the Sky Screen had processed the audio into silence.
"Its weakness is B—! It doesn't have a B—! Don't B—!!"
All muted words.
"Looks like this kid was Yang Wei's companion after all."
Wan Changzheng sighed. "A bit weak, but he still managed to call out something critical at the key moment. That shows loyalty."
"Yeah, that makes a lot more sense." Zhao Yan nodded.
But the very next second.
The Scarecrow on screen launched its charge.
And the man—without a single flashy movement—raised his hand and fired 3 shots!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The Mozambique Drill!
2 shots to the chest, 1 to the head!
The S-Grade Boss was instantly dismantled into scattered pieces by invisible bullets, parts strewn across the ground.
And the most critical detail—
No Words Needed had no gun whatsoever.
"Huh?"
All 3 people in the office simultaneously dropped their jaws, faces etched with incomprehension.
"Wait…it's already over?"
Zhao Yan was dumbfounded. "That's all an S-Grade Boss amounts to?"
Shen Lian calmly glanced at the timestamp in the bottom right corner. "Only 9 seconds have passed. It's not over."
Sure enough.
On screen, countless wheat stalks surged and writhed—the terrifying Scarecrow had somehow reassembled and revived behind Jiang Nan, raising its Scythe for a sneak attack!
"Undying body…"
Wan Changzheng's expression shifted. "This is what makes an S-Grade monster truly terrifying! This entire Wheat Field is its true body!"
"As long as the Wheat Field exists, it cannot die!"
"Watch out!"
Zhao Yan shouted on instinct.
But an even more staggering scene unfolded.
The man did not turn around. He simply raised his index finger to his lips and made a "Shh" gesture.
In an instant.
The rampaging Scarecrow froze mid-air as if someone had pressed pause on it.
It thrashed its Scythe wildly, but like a headless fly, it had lost all sense of its target.
Then, without even turning his head, the man fired a casual backhand shot and blew the Boss's head off again.
"Pause!" Shen Lian called out sharply.
The footage froze again.
"That marksmanship…it's uncanny."
Wan Changzheng's voice came fast. "Pure sound-location tracking? No…it doesn't even seem like he was listening."
"He was reading the moonlit shadow! He determined the Scarecrow's exact position just from its shadow!"
"And those bullets—no visible trajectory, yet the stopping power is absurd. Capable of penetrating an S-Grade monster's defenses with ease."
"Vacuum rounds? Compressed air?"
Zhao Yan spoke up at this point. "This is even better than that soldier king from our military district a few decades back—the one who installed his rifle trigger in reverse!"
"Commander, do you remember? You were still a company commander then. You saw he'd reversed his trigger installation and criticized him for it!"
"Then the kid talked back and said he did it deliberately—so that if the gun ever fell into enemy hands, the enemy wouldn't be familiar with it and couldn't fire immediately!"
"You dressed him down on the spot! Said your gun is your life! Did he think this was the era of bayonet charges from decades ago?"
"If someone's already killed you, who's going to bother with that broken gun of yours?"
"In modern warfare, as a special forces operative, your opponents will never be people who lack weapons! They're not going to engage you in close quarters!"
"Let me think…what was that person's name again…"
"Oh! It was me! Never mind, hahaha!"
Zhao Yan laughed and scratched his head.
"Ahem!"
Wan Changzheng cut him off, exasperated. "Alright, Xiao Zhao! Save your glorious history for another time! We're discussing No Words Needed right now!"
"Chief Engineer Shen, what's your read?"
Shen Lian had gone quiet, brows knitted tight, as though wrestling with a particularly difficult problem.
After a long moment, she raised her head, her tone heavy.
"Both commanders, I find No Words Needed somewhat…difficult to see through."
"Because in those brief dozen seconds just now, he displayed 2 completely distinct abilities."
"What?"
Wan Changzheng and Zhao Yan both froze simultaneously. "Completely distinct? Dual abilities?"
"According to everything documented about the Savage Realm over all these years, no one with dual abilities has ever existed—not once."
Zhao Yan pushed back, "That defies the rules!"
"That was my thinking as well."
Shen Lian dragged the video progress bar back to the moment Jiang Nan made the "Shh" gesture, then played it at reduced speed.
She pointed to Guo Shuai lying on the ground.
"Look at this young man's throat—it's visibly convulsing. His mouth is wide open, face flushed, neck veins straining."
"It's obvious he was desperately screaming to warn his teammates."
"But then…"
Shen Lian tapped the screen. "The Sky Screen system didn't display any muted symbols for 'B—', and there were no sound-wave ripples at the scene whatsoever."
"Combined with the Scarecrow's sudden freeze and disorientation."
"There's only 1 possible explanation…"
Shen Lian drew a slow breath. "No Words Needed activated his second ability!"
"The function of this ability is very likely the creation of a complete Silence Field!"
"First, Air Bullets. Then a Rule-Type Silence Field…"
"One for offense, one for control. Dual abilities?!"
Both men finished listening to the analysis and felt their heads buzz.
"What an absolute freak of nature……"
Zhao Yan muttered, though his voice was brimming with excitement. "Forget it! Let's finish watching first!"
"We can analyze after it ends—I don't want to pause again! I want to see how he completely kills this thing!"
"Agreed."
The 3 of them fell silent, breath held, eyes locked on the screen.
The footage continued.
What came next stripped all 3 of these battle-hardened veterans of their capacity for words entirely.
Facing a Scarecrow legion capable of infinite resurrection and summoning a thousand-strong army.
The man still did not move a single step.
He bit his finger.
As his lips moved, that drop of blood transformed into a Crimson-Black Flame Lotus.
Then—
Boom!!
Even through the screen, all 3 felt that soul-freezing, terrifying aura wash over them.
The Crimson-Black Tribulation Flame engulfed the entire Wheat Field.
That was not burning.
That was withering.
They watched with their own eyes as those S-Grade monsters that had been standing perfectly upright moments before—were not scorched by the flames.
Instead, they aged, decayed, and crumbled to dust at a visible rate…
As though someone had pressed fast-forward on time itself, forcing this Wheat Field to endure ten thousand years of erosion in the span of seconds.
No screams.
Because even the screams had been worn away to nothing in the river of time.
In just a few short seconds.
The Death Wheat Field ceased to exist.
Only the man remained, standing amid swirling clouds of ash and dust, gently blowing out the last ember at his fingertip.
The footage ended.
The office fell into a long, deep silence. Not even the sound of breathing could be heard.
Clatter.
The recording pen in Shen Lian's hand dropped to the floor.
This genius Chief Engineer—renowned for her composure and pride—now stood utterly stupefied, her eyes filled with a shock she could not begin to comprehend.
"This…this is a 3rd one…"
Shen Lian's voice came out dry and rasping, like sandpaper dragged across a surface.
"And it's a Sequence-Type ability…"
"He's too powerful…this person is truly too powerful…"
