Crossover: Becoming Japan’s Prime Minister?

Chapter 296 297: Sherry, Long Time No See!

"Vermouth?!"

In Toru's mansion in Tokyo, Haibara sat on a high chair. When she saw Toru and the woman beside him enter the room, she gritted her teeth.

"Sherry, it really has been a long time."

Vermouth chuckled softly. She slowly walked over to Haibara, reached out to touch her little head, and a nostalgic look appeared in her eyes.

"It really brings back memories. You were like this when you were little too, just not as resistant as you are now."

When Haibara was truly young, Vermouth had met her before.

At that time, Haibara's mind had not yet matured, so naturally, she would not show the disdainful and disgusted expression toward Vermouth that she did now.

Haibara slapped her hand away.

"Don't touch my head, Vermouth!"

She then looked at Toru and glared angrily.

"Toru, why is she here?"

Toru explained with a smile, "Vermouth is our close friend. She now firmly stands on our side. Since we are friends, some things naturally have to be explained frankly."

Haibara snorted coldly.

"You need to be careful of her. This woman is called the Witch of a Thousand Faces, and what she's best at is lying. If you're careless, you might be deceived by her."

Toru smiled.

"Then I'll need Haibara to help me keep an eye on her even more, to make sure she doesn't deceive me."

As he said this, Toru let out a breath of relief.

Letting Vermouth and Haibara meet was actually not a good move. It could even be called a bad move. If he was not careful, Haibara might explode.

But thankfully, the 100 affection points meant that both Haibara and Vermouth were very firm in their feelings for him.

Even though they were enemies meeting with intense hostility, they did not argue or fight.

This was also the reason Toru had not let Vermouth meet Mary before. Mary did not have absolute affection for him.

If those two met, something would definitely happen, and Toru did not think Mary would have 100 affection for him. It was probably impossible in this lifetime.

That was determined by Mary's age and life experiences.

"Hello, do you have any preferred drinks?"

Hayasaka, dressed in a maid outfit, stood beside Toru with her hands clasped in front of her and bowed slightly.

While bending down, Hayasaka's eyes also glanced over inadvertently, looking at the woman in front of her with a voluptuous figure and stunning beauty.

She felt secretly jealous and a little discouraged, especially after staring at Vermouth's high chest.

It was too big. Could it also be squeezed out?

But looking at Vermouth's perfect figure, which seemed slender but was actually quite full, Hayasaka could only remain silent.

Although Hayasaka's gaze was hidden, how could it escape Vermouth's perception?

Vermouth did not care. She even fully displayed her charm and beauty as a woman in front of Hayasaka.

She smiled slightly, her smile elegant and noble.

"I'll have a cup of coffee, please, Ms."

"Please wait a moment."

Hayasaka bowed and retreated. Not long after, she poured Vermouth a cup of hand-brewed coffee and also brought Toru a cup of cola with ice and lemon.

She knew that Toru did not like drinking alcohol or tea-based beverages. He only loved this "house happy water," and it absolutely had to have ice. Lemon was best, but it did not matter if there was none.

As a qualified maid, one naturally had to know all of the master's preferences by heart.

"The coffee is brewed very well. You are a very professional barista."

Vermouth took a small sip of the coffee in her cup and acknowledged Hayasaka.

Hayasaka smiled slightly and said, "To satisfy an esteemed guest and make you feel that our home has not neglected its hospitality is the greatest praise for me."

Vermouth carefully observed Hayasaka for a moment, then chuckled softly. She immediately saw that Hayasaka was a maid trained by a truly wealthy and prominent family, meticulous and flawless in everything she did.

Toru took a few sips of his cola and said to Vermouth and Haibara, "Let's go talk in my room."

There were some things Toru did not mind saying in front of Hayasaka, but some things still needed to be kept from her.

Hayasaka did not mind. In the past, when someone like Oko discussed important family decisions in the Shinomiya family, it would have been impossible to do so in front of her, a maid.

The three of them went to the room on the second floor. Hayasaka carried a tray with their drinks and also brought some small snacks like cake for the master and guests to enjoy if they got hungry.

After doing this, Hayasaka withdrew, preparing to do some cleaning.

Toru's door was closed. Vermouth walked around the room twice.

"This is the first time I've seen your room, Boy. It's much simpler and cleaner than I imagined."

Toru's room had no extra items besides the basic living furniture. Except for the bed, which looked a little large, all the other furniture was very simple.

Vermouth took out a cigarette and lit it. Haibara frowned and said, "I don't like the smell of smoke."

Vermouth did not listen to Haibara. She did not extinguish the cigarette, but simply walked to the side and opened the window, allowing the smoke to dissipate outside as much as possible.

Haibara sniffed, and her expression changed slightly.

It was not that she was particularly sensitive to or disliked the smell of smoke. She found the scent of this cigarette very familiar!

Several times when Toru had come home before, he had carried this cigarette smoke smell on him.

Haibara had guessed which woman Toru had been messing around with, and now she finally knew the answer. It was Vermouth!

She felt a little jealous and a little angry. If it were any other woman, Haibara felt that she would not have such a big emotional reaction.

Only Vermouth made her feel inexplicably annoyed.

Although the investigation showed that her parents' deaths were likely unrelated to Vermouth, this woman had once held a mysterious hostility toward her in the past, and she did not even know Toru at that time!

Haibara tried hard to calm herself down and changed the subject.

"How is Naomi Argento?"

"I've already sent her to the hospital," Toru replied.

Haibara was silent for a moment, then sighed.

"I still feel a little guilty toward Naomi. The results of her life's work went down the drain just like that."

Toru shook his head.

"This is a good thing for her. If that system were still there, even without the Organization, groups like the CIA or MI6 would want to get it."

"With that system, her life would be even more dangerous. Now that the system is gone, she is safer."

"Her family background isn't bad, and her family is harmonious. Her life isn't miserable at all."

He paused, then continued, "Right, I promised her that Shiho, her childhood friend, would contact her. Don't forget, Haibara."

"With your ability, creating voice-changing software shouldn't be difficult, right?"

Haibara hummed.

"I understand. Let's talk about the Organization and That Person."
