Chapter 7 : Chapter 7
Chapter 7: The Young Master Is the True Genius!
Jianghai City, the Lin family villa.
Night had fallen, and the lights inside the villa had come on, illuminating the luxurious estate as brightly as day.
A black off-road vehicle slowly drove through the gates and stopped in front of the carved fountain.
The car door opened, and Lin Mo stepped out with a lazy stretch. Behind him, Ye Hongyu still maintained her vigilant posture, even here in the absolutely secure stronghold of the Lin family.
The two had just reached the entrance of the villa when—
“Welcome home, Young Master!”
Two rows of maids in elegant black-and-white uniforms, ten in total, bowed in perfect unison.
Those neatly aligned long legs and those perfectly measured smiles were enough to leave any man at a loss.
But Lin Mo had long since grown used to it.
Smiling, he nodded and casually waved a hand.
“Ah, ah, good, good.”
“Mo’er, you are back!”
Su Wan had already been waiting in the main hall for quite some time.
She was dressed in casual homewear, yet it still could not conceal her graceful and noble bearing.
The moment she saw her son walk in, a radiant smile blossomed across her face.
She hurried over, took Lin Mo’s hand, and looked him over from side to side. “How was it? Are you tired? Did you get hurt?”
“I see your clothes are barely dusty at all. Hongyu protected you well.”
Lin Mo shrugged and smiled.
“Mom, I only went out to grind some levels, not to fight a war. How could I get hurt? Besides, with Sister Ye there, I was completely safe.”
“That is good, that is good.”
Su Wan nodded in satisfaction, then pulled Lin Mo toward the dining hall.
“You must be starving. Come, your mother specially told the kitchen to prepare a full table of dishes for you, all made according to your request this morning. The fire element is absolutely overflowing.”
“Great, I was getting hungry.”
Lin Mo’s eyes lit up, and he obediently followed his mother toward the dining hall.
...
Inside the dining hall, the five-meter-long dining table was now covered with an extravagant spread of dishes.
Tonight’s meal was entirely red from one end to the other.
【Stir-Fried Scarlet Flame Dragon Liver】, 【Molten Earthcore Fruit Salad】, 【Flame Rhinoceros Spine Soup】, 【Lotus Flame Roast Whole Lamb】...
The entire dining hall was filled with a rich, scorching aroma. Just one breath of it made it feel as though a ball of fire had been swallowed into the throat.
Lin Tianhao was already seated at the head of the table. When he saw Lin Mo enter, he cheerfully waved him over.
“Come, come, Mo’er, sit beside your father.”
The moment Lin Mo sat down, Little Fireball began roaring wildly.
【‘Fireball’ has stars in its eyes and is drooling all over the floor: Eat, eat, eat! Hurry up and eat! That is dragon liver! I want it! Stuff it into your mouth already!】
【Mood: Extremely ravenous (wishing it could grow a mouth of its own)】
Lin Mo’s lips twitched. He picked up his chopsticks, took a piece of dragon liver, and slowly blew on it.
“What is the rush? Do you not know it is hot?”
Lin Mo replied inwardly, then took a small bite with perfect composure, chewing slowly and savoring it.
【‘Fireball’ jumps around in frustration: Hot, my ass! I am a fireball! You think I am afraid of heat? Are you even a man? Take a big bite of the meat already! Why are you dawdling? You are killing me here!】
Lin Mo ignored the irritable Little Fireball and continued enjoying the meal at his own pace.
As the high-purity fire-element food entered his stomach, he could feel the warm current inside him continuously nourishing the restless Little Fireball.
At the dining table, the atmosphere was harmonious.
Su Wan turned to Ye Hongyu beside them and smiled. “Hongyu, you really worked hard today.”
“I just checked Mo’er’s level, and he is already Lv.5. Gaining two levels in one day— you must be exhausted.”
As she spoke, Su Wan took a golden card out of the handbag at her side and handed it over.
“This is the VIP card for an equipment shop under my name. You should also replace your gear. Consider it a little gift from me.”
Ye Hongyu did not reach out to take it.
She bowed slightly, her tone respectful but carrying a hint of stubbornness.
“Madam, Hongyu appreciates your kindness.”
“But I am still very comfortable with my current equipment and do not need to replace it for now. Moreover, protecting the young master is my duty and the commander’s order. I truly do not deserve such a reward.”
“If I tell you to take it, then take it!”
Lin Tianhao put on a stern face and said in a deliberately serious tone,
“What is with all that nonsense? My wife’s words are an order! Besides, if a soldier of the Lin family goes out looking poorly equipped, the one who loses face is me, Lin Tianhao!”
Only after seeing the commander like this did Ye Hongyu finally accept the gold card with both hands and put it away solemnly.
Then Ye Hongyu took a deep breath, and her expression became somewhat complicated.
“Actually, Madam, you have misunderstood one thing. The reason the young master leveled so quickly today is mainly because the young master himself is impressive.”
She paused, then added, “Without the young master’s godlike control, no matter how many monsters I lured over, the efficiency could never have been this high.”
The moment those words fell, the dining hall went silent for several seconds.
Lin Tianhao and Su Wan exchanged looks at the same time and blinked, as though they thought they had heard wrong.
A Blank-Slate Mage—how impressive could he possibly be?
What was more, Lin Tianhao knew Ye Hongyu’s temperament very well. She was an extremely proud subordinate.
If Ye Hongyu spoke so seriously of someone being impressive, then it was definitely not something ordinary.
Su Wan, however, did not know the details. She only assumed Ye Hongyu was flattering Lin Mo, so she immediately said,
“Hongyu, I know you are loyal and want to make Mo’er look good. But let us just speak honestly.”
Ye Hongyu took a deep breath and said seriously,
“Commander, Madam, I am not exaggerating in the slightest. The young master may very well be the most gifted mage I have ever seen or heard of.”
Hearing that, Lin Mo could not help shrinking his neck a little, and his cheeks grew slightly warm.
Being praised so seriously to his face as “the most gifted,” even with a face as thick as a city wall, he still felt a little embarrassed.
After all, he had spent the entire day gaming.
Then again, having cheats counted as talent too, right?
“The most gifted?”
Lin Tianhao put down his chopsticks, his expression turning serious.
“Hongyu, explain it properly.”
He knew Ye Hongyu. She was upright by nature and always spoke the truth. She would never lie to curry favor with a superior.
Ye Hongyu did not answer immediately. Instead, she took out her phone from her pocket.
“Words alone prove nothing, Commander, Madam.”
“This is a video I recorded in Gloomwood this afternoon. Once you watch it, you will understand.”
As she spoke, she opened the video and turned the screen toward Lin Tianhao and Su Wan.
The video was only a little over ten seconds long.
The dining hall fell completely silent.
Only the somewhat awkward sound of Lin Mo chewing seemed especially harsh in the still air.
Lin Mo glanced at his parents’ expressions from the corner of his eye. His toes curled frantically inside his shoes, as though he wished he could dig out an entire three-bedroom apartment on the spot.
This was social death...
Utter social death!
Not because his strength had been exposed, but because of that line, “I have my ultimate.”
That was practically a public execution!
Sister Ye, if you were going to record a video, could you not at least have warned me in advance?
