Chapter 167 - 166: Sixth Young Master Mo Beiyan
On the outskirts of Pingyang City, there is a manor, called Shuixie Manor.
This Shuixie Manor isn’t very large, just a plain, ordinary estate, yet on normal days it is full of guests, with many visitors coming to pay their respects.
Because the master of Shuixie Manor is Mo Beiyan, the youngest son of the Nu River Dragon King, Mo Jingzhou. As he’s ranked sixth, Martial World people all respectfully call him the Sixth Young Master.
Shuixie Manor stands midway up the mountainside. In this heavy snow, the scenery is uniquely beautiful, the woods painted in color, white snow covering the whole mountain.
At this moment, at the manor’s entrance,
A young man with handsome features walked out, draped in a white robe, clothed in pure white, his bearing extraordinary. This was none other than Sixth Young Master Mo Beiyan, also famed as the most handsome man in Canglan Dao.
Behind Mo Beiyan was a robust middle-aged man carrying a broad sword on his back; this was the carriage driver Bai Jiu’Er sent to escort Gu Zhan to Pingyang City previously—an Innate Martial Artist.
Two days ago, this driver sent Gu Zhan to the Pingyang City Hundred Households Office, then immediately came to Shuixie Manor, because Bai Jiu’Er had some instructions he needed to deliver to Mo Beiyan.
Mo Beiyan’s mother is Bai Jiu’Er’s paternal aunt, so the two share a blood bond as cousins. Their relationship is excellent, though now each lives in a different city and rarely get to meet throughout the year.
Since Mo Beiyan resides year-round in Pingyang Prefecture, seeing someone from Canglan City naturally touched his heart, so he kept the driver in the manor for another day.
"Sixth Young Master, it’s cold. Please, you need not see me off," the driver said.
Mo Beiyan sighed, glanced at the carriage by the entrance, and said, "You’re in a hurry to return and report, so I won’t delay you any further. After you go back, pass along to Ninth Sister everything she spoke of—I know now."
The driver cupped his hands and added, "Sixth Young Master, do remember to watch over Young Master Gu. Miss likes this junior quite a lot. Although Young Master Gu doesn’t treat Miss as an elder, Miss and he are very close. Before I left, Miss kept reminding me to tell you, Gu’s temper isn’t that good—young and brash, coming to Pingyang City will surely stir up trouble. You must pay extra attention, don’t let anything happen to him."
Mo Beiyan patted his chest, straightforwardly said, "Don’t worry. Go back and tell Ninth Sister, although in other places I may not have much sway, here in Pingyang Prefecture, I—Mo Beiyan—still command some respect. This junior of hers—I’ll cover for him!"
Just then, a figure darted quickly through the snow, landed by Mo Beiyan’s side, and leaned close to mutter something softly in his ear.
Listening closely,
Mo Beiyan’s expression shifted, turning bewildered, then downright strange as he stared at the driver, swallowing, "Um... Old Chen..."
The driver looked puzzled. "Sixth Young Master, what’s the matter?"
Mo Beiyan smacked his lips, saying, "Wait, are you sure Ninth Sister told me to cover for Gu Zhan, not for Gu Zhan to cover for me?"
The driver looked completely lost.
Mo Beiyan stroked his chin, face constipated, "Hold on, don’t leave yet. How about you go talk to Gu Zhan instead—and let him cover for me. With someone this ferocious, you want me to cover him, are you sure you haven’t got it wrong?"
The driver looked all the more bewildered.
Just then,
On the Great Dao outside Shuixie Manor, a group of people came rushing in, flustered and stumbling, frantic and disheveled. They were Luo Huaiyang—just fled from Pingyang City—with several gang leaders and experts.
"Sixth Young Master! Sixth Young Master!"
Luo Huaiyang, drenched in blood, hair wild, staggered forward and dropped to his knees before Mo Beiyan, shouting, "Please, Sixth Young Master—save me!"
...
In the main hall of Shuixie Manor,
Luo Huaiyang and his companions sat on chairs.
Mo Beiyan had called in a few doctors to bandage their wounds, listening as Luo Huaiyang recounted the events.
"Sixth Young Master, that Gu Zhan...he’s simply inhuman! He’s trying to wipe us out to the last! Sixth Young Master, this man—this man is a devil, a demon from the Demon Dao. He mustn’t be allowed to run wild in Pingyang Prefecture!"
"Yes, Sixth Young Master, you haven’t seen it—mountains of corpses, seas of blood! Gu Zhan is definitely from the Demon Dao; if he’s allowed to continue in Pingyang Prefecture, he’ll bring disaster to the Pingyang Martial World!"
"He’s far too bloodthirsty, Sixth Young Master—you’re a descendant of a noble family, you can’t sit back and let this killer run unchecked!"
"..."
In the hall,
Bai Jiu’Er’s carriage driver looked utterly shocked,
He finally understood why Mo Beiyan’s expression was so bizarre earlier,
He swallowed uneasily,
It’s only been two days—just two days!
And the man chopped up an entire city, inside and out.
He knew with Gu Zhan’s killer instinct entering Pingyang City, there’d be trouble, but he never imagined it’d blow up this huge, this blunt—
An entire city chopped clean through!
At the main seat, Sixth Young Master stroked his chin, troubled, "Everyone, with this matter, I’m at a loss too. Gu Zhan is now a full-fledged Embroidered Uniform Guard Thousand Households—his core mission is to clean up Pingyang City. That’s reasonable. Even though I’m from a Martial World Gang, my father is now the City Lord of Canglan City, and an Earl of Canglan, appointed by the Court. Some rules I must obey."
Luo Huaiyang hastily replied, "We all understand your difficulties, Sixth Young Master. But whether as officials or as Martial World People, Beidou Bang has always been our leader. Canglan City is always paramount, and we’ve always obeyed orders from Shuixie Manor. Now with Pingyang City in chaos thanks to Gu Zhan, and still hunting us down, you must save us! We don’t beg you to punish Gu Zhan, but please, Sixth Young Master, intervene and mediate, spare our lives, let us return to Pingyang City. From now on, we’ll follow your lead!"
"We earnestly beg Sixth Young Master for help!"
All the gang leaders dropped to their knees, pleading for help.
Mo Beiyan sat at the main seat with a calm expression, deep in thought. Just then, the stunning woman standing beside Mo Beiyan suddenly spoke, "Everyone rise. Rest assured, our Young Master won’t stand by and do nothing. Maintaining stability in the Martial World is what Beidou Bang has always strived for. The Young Master won’t allow more killing to happen!"
Luo Huaiyang and the others were overjoyed,
This woman was the chief maid of Sixth Young Master Mo Beiyan—the closest person to him, overseeing all affairs big and small in Shuixie Manor, often handling matters for Mo Beiyan. In the Pingyang Prefecture Martial World, people always gave her respect, usually addressing her as Miss Yu.
This Miss Yu was also personally acknowledged by Mo Beiyan as his representative.
So now that Miss Yu had spoken,
Luo Huaiyang and the others all relaxed at heart—it meant Mo Beiyan had agreed to protect them.
"Thank you, Sixth Young Master! Thank you, Miss Yu!"
"Thank you, Sixth Young Master! Thank you, Miss Yu!"
Luo Huaiyang and the others hurriedly expressed their gratitude.
Just then, a guard entered from outside, cupped his fists and reported, "Young Master, someone seeks an audience outside, claiming to be Gu Zhan, Embroidered Uniform Guard Thousand Households of Pingyang City."
Mo Beiyan narrowed his eyes slightly, nodded, and said, "Invite him in!"
