Chapter 147 -: 146 Stupid luck.
Rosalina exploded out of the hole like a furious rocket.
"Die, you motherfuckers!!!"
Her roar shook the entire hall.
She shot into the air, robe torn and flapping wildly, hair a messy disaster.
In her hands she swung a huge, ugly axe like it weighed nothing.
She stopped high above the hole, chest heaving, eyes blazing with pure rage.
From the dark pit below, nightmare beasts poured out.
They looked like twisted monsters, pitch-black dog bodies with snapping crocodile heads.
Long, slimy tentacles wiggled along their backs.
They growled and snarled, hungry and angry, as if someone had stolen their favorite meal.
"Huff... huff... huff..."
Rosalina breathed hard, glaring down at them.
These weren’t normal monsters.
They were nightmare beasts, dark, nasty creatures that hunted in big packs.
Their spit could melt solid rock in seconds.
When she had fallen through the floor, she had landed right in the middle of thousands of them. It had been a nightmare.
She had even tried using her tamed purple wolves to fight back, but only the big one was left, still stuck in its metamorphosis stage.
She refused to waste it. So she had fought alone, slashing and blasting until her arms felt like lead.
In the end, she had been forced to use one of her strongest, most dangerous spells from the Valentina clan just to escape.
"Fuck!" she spat, still staring at the beasts.
"What is wrong with this stupid overpowered luck?!"
Her angry eyes flicked sideways and landed on Crypian and Alia.
The two lovebirds were still clutching each other tightly, faces pale, eyes wide like scared puppies.
They hadn’t moved an inch from the hole.
"Damn you guys!!" Rosalina snapped.
She raised both hands. The giant axe vanished into thin air.
A big, glowing red magic circle appeared between her palms.
She stretched it wider like a glowing screen, carefully adjusting the complicated formulas inside.
Her face twisted with frustration.
"I really didn’t want to use this unfinished spell..." she muttered through gritted teeth.
"But you leave me no choice!"
She pressed her hands together.
The red circle shrank and turned pitch black, pulsing with dangerous energy.
"Infinite Cast!" she shouted, voice full of fury.
She pointed straight at the swarm of nightmare beasts, ready to unleash whatever horror she had prepared.
But right at that exact second, something moved in the corner of her eye.
Rosalina jerked her head around.
There, floating toward her through the air, was Julius.
The moment her eyes landed on him, the black magic circle in her hands completely disappeared.
Her angry expression melted away in an instant.
Her lips pushed out into the biggest, cutest pout.
Her big eyes instantly filled with shiny tears that she tried very hard to blink back.
"Julius..." she whispered, her voice suddenly soft and wobbly.
She looked so adorable, like a grumpy kitten who had been hissing and spitting fire a second ago, only to turn into a sad, fluffy ball of love the moment she saw her favorite person.
Her cheeks turned pink.
Her hands, still raised from the spell, now floated uselessly in the air as if she had completely forgotten what she was doing.
All the rage, all the frustration, all the screaming at the nightmare beasts, it vanished.
In its place was just pure, helpless affection.
She hovered there, pouting and teary-eyed, staring at Julius like he was the only thing in the whole world that mattered.
Julius floated closer with a guilty little smile on his face.
The second he got near enough, bam!, Rosalina threw herself at him like a missile.
She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and buried her face in his chest.
"You idiot!" she grumbled, voice muffled against him. "Why did you do something so reckless?"
Julius gently patted her back. A soft giggle escaped him.
He opened his mouth to answer, but the words he wanted to say felt way too cheesy, even for him.
He imagined himself saying it out loud and immediately decided to stay quiet.
"Ahem!"
A loud, dramatic cough cut through the air.
Tiny Elizabeth floated right beside them, arms crossed, looking annoyed.
"You do realize that I’m here, right?"
Rosalina didn’t even glance at her. She just kept clinging to Julius like glue.
"Tsk!" Tiny Elizabeth clicked her tongue loudly. "There is no respect for old people these days!"
She flew behind Rosalina, grabbed the back of her robe with both tiny hands, and pulled hard.
"Come out of my son!!" she growled, teeth gritted, face turning red from effort.
She yanked and yanked until her little arms shook.
Finally, Rosalina loosened her grip and floated back a bit.
The moment she was free, Rosalina whipped her head around and gave Tiny Elizabeth a sharp snort.
"Old people don’t know their place these days, huh!" she snarled. Then she quickly floated closer to Julius again, pressing herself against his side.
"You!!" Tiny Elizabeth started to snap back, eyes blazing.
Julius quickly stepped between them and raised his hands.
"Now, now, please calm down. We aren’t here to fight each other." He rubbed his right palm against his left like a merchant trying to sell vegetables and fish at the same time. "Let’s just quickly kill those two and move on to the 11th floor."
"Hmph!"
"Hmph!"
Two loud, angry snorts echoed at the same time. Both Rosalina and Tiny Elizabeth turned their heads away from each other in opposite directions, pouting hard.
Julius let out a long sigh of relief. He turned to Rosalina with a gentle look. "Now let’s go kill those two...."
Before he could finish, Rosalina spun around and gave an angry growl. "Easier said than done!" She crossed her arms tightly.
"I nearly died trying to kill them. It’s really getting annoying. How the fuck am I supposed to kill them when they have so much stupid luck on their side?"
She pointed dramatically at the nightmare beasts still growling from the edge of the hole. Her face twisted with irritation.
"Earlier, when you were unconscious, I was just a tiny bit away from chopping them into pieces. But right at that moment, the ground suddenly gave way and I fell straight down!"
Her voice rose higher as she kept going. "Then when I finally reached the bottom and tried to fly back up, these motherfuckers attacked me!" She jabbed her finger at the beasts again. "Damn it! I think it’s impossible to kill them!"
She finished with a big, frustrated pout, cheeks puffed out like an angry kitten who had been defeated one too many times.
Julius looked at her and sighed. He could understand why she was so fed up. This was crossing every limit. Why would natural forces keep interfering so much? And now that the "trash couple" didn’t even have the system anymore... it was only going to get harder once it came back.
