Chapter 1 : Chapter 1
Chapter 1. Awakening a Trash Class? And He Even Dared to Curse the Goddess? Is He Crazy?
Wu You stood in the center of the Class Awakening Magic Array, feeling slightly dazed.
Just a second ago, he had been staying up late grinding a trash browser game.
The next second, he had become the only son of a top-tier aristocratic family in this world where everyone could change classes.
In theory, this should have been a start with max level gear, winning directly at the starting line.
Then, the light of the class awakening array went out.
As the radiance faded, the entire venue became so quiet that a pin drop could be heard.
The white-bearded presiding elder twitched the corner of his mouth.
He looked at the bewildered Wu You standing in the center of the array, then glanced at the crystal ball that showed no unusual phenomenon at all, and awkwardly cleared his throat.
His voice spread through the amplification magic array, carrying a tone that made people reluctant to even look directly at the situation.
“The Wu Family’s Wu You has awakened the class—Basic Swordsman. Energy rating… uh, E-rank!”
“WHOA!!!”
After a brief moment of dead silence, the crowd erupted into deafening noise.
“E-rank? And it is a Basic Swordsman? What difference is that from not changing classes at all? Even my family’s cook awakened as a D-rank Flame Manipulator back then!”
“Hahaha! The young master of the Wu Family, and this is it? This is it! I thought we were going to witness an S-rank genius today!”
“Tsk tsk. The Wu Family has really embarrassed itself this time. After investing so many resources, they only produced a Basic Swordsman?”
The murmurs, the ridicule, and the schadenfreude-filled sneers surged in like a tide.
On the viewing platform, Wu You’s father, Wu Zhenshan, the current head of the Wu Family, sat with a face as dark as water.
The veins on the back of the hand resting on the armrest bulged slightly.
Several elders beside him wore different expressions.
The Second Elder spoke in a strange, mocking tone.
“Ahem, Zhenshan… it seems that You’er’s talent is… well… rather simple and unrefined.”
The Third Elder sighed and shook his head.
“An E-rank Basic Swordsman… This… how will he command respect in the future? The family’s resources… I am afraid…”
Wu You stood in the middle of the field, listening to the undisguised ridicule coming from all directions, as well as the restrained disappointment in the discussions of his own family.
Ten thousand alpacas seemed to gallop wildly through his mind.
What the hell was going on?
Starting as the heir of a top-tier aristocratic family, and this was what he got?
E-rank?
And a Basic Swordsman?
This script was completely wrong!
Just as he was about to open his mouth to complain about this ridiculous class awakening system, a sudden change occurred!
BUZZ!!!
The sky suddenly burst with endless holy light without any warning.
A majestic and noble female phantom abruptly appeared.
An overwhelming divine might instantly silenced the entire plaza.
Everyone felt a sense of awe that came from the instinct of life itself, making them want to kneel involuntarily.
“It… it is the projection of the Goddess of Wisdom and War, Athena!”
Someone shouted excitedly, almost incoherent with shock.
Wu You also looked up.
He saw that the gaze of the goddess’s phantom was like ice that had existed for ten thousand years.
It pierced through space and locked firmly onto him.
There was no compassion in that gaze that a god should possess.
There was only an extreme, pure disgust and hatred.
A cold and ethereal voice exploded directly in Wu You’s mind.
【A disgusting aura from beyond the domain… a despicable parasite that steals the world!】
Wu You: “???”
He looked left and right, then pointed at his own nose and communicated with that gaze through his thoughts.
“Miss, are you… talking to me? You must have mistaken me for someone else, right? This is the first time I have ever seen you today. I did not even charge you for a ticket, so how did I suddenly become a parasite?”
The goddess’s phantom seemed to be slightly angered by his way of communicating.
However, she was restricted by certain rules and could not directly unleash divine punishment.
She raised a finger.
A point of golden light condensed with terrifying power of laws instantly shot into Wu You’s body.
【Mortal insect, the laws of this world cannot be defiled! By my divine decree, I curse your sword path—your life shall be imprisoned in a cage, forever halted at the foundation!】
CRACK!
Wu You felt as if something inside his body had been locked.
He directed his consciousness into the so-called “Class Panel.”
As expected, all the slightly advanced sword techniques had their icons turned gray and unselectable.
They were dim and lifeless.
The only things still lit were five lonely icons at the very bottom.
[Upward Slash], [Straight Thrust], [Horizontal Slash], [Block], and [Quick Step].
“The goddess… the goddess has cast a curse?!”
Below the stage, a young nobleman screamed as if he had seen something utterly filthy.
“My heavens! What kind of unforgivable act did he commit to provoke the goddess herself to curse him?”
“It is over, it is over. An E-rank Basic Swordsman who is also cursed by the goddess. This is not just trash anymore. This is a disaster star abandoned by the gods!”
“The Wu Family is going to suffer terrible misfortune! Stay away from them!”
On the viewing platform, Wu Zhenshan suddenly stood up, his face turning iron-gray.
Several elders instantly erupted in commotion.
The Second Elder was utterly horrified.
“A curse from the goddess?! Th-this… what should we do? Would our Wu Family not become the laughingstock of all laughingstocks?”
The Third Elder shouted anxiously.
“Family Head! This child has already brought divine disgust upon our clan! We must draw a clear line immediately, or we will surely be implicated!”
Wu You felt the cold divine shackle inside his body.
He also heard the goddess’s contemptuous description of him as a parasite.
Then he saw the expressions of the elders of his own family, who were eager to distance themselves from him, along with the countless gazes below that looked at him as if he were a performing monkey, a disaster star, or a piece of garbage.
A surge of furious rage, mixed with the frustration of a transmigrator, completely shattered his rationality.
“FUCK—YOU—TO—HELL!!!”
He suddenly raised his head, the veins on his neck bulging violently.
Facing the goddess’s phantom in the sky, which was slowly fading yet still carried endless coldness and arrogance, he used all his strength to roar with earth-shaking fury.
“You narcissistic freak with bird feathers stuck on your head! You hormonally unbalanced old hag! I just went to sleep and transmigrated, what the hell does that have to do with you?! Parasite? You are the parasite! Your whole family are parasites! Does your divine realm look down on people with your nostrils and think with your hemorrhoids?!”
“So you are cursing me? Sealing my skills, huh? Fine! Just you wait!”
Wu You jumped angrily in place, his finger almost stabbing toward the sky.
“I will use these damn basic sword techniques, and one day I will pry your pretentious divine throne right out from under you! I will strip off that shiny golden skin of yours! I will pluck those stupid bird feathers off your head one by one and turn them into a feather duster! Then I will use it to dust your stupid temple every single day! Did you hear me, you old hag?!”
Silence.
A deathly silence.
The entire class awakening plaza, with tens of thousands of people—including Wu Zhenshan and the elders—were completely petrified.
Every single one of them had their mouths wide open, their eyes bulging like copper bells.
It was as if they had just witnessed the most unbelievable, insane, and suicidal scene in the world.
Someone’s recording crystal slipped from their hand and fell to the ground with a clack.
Someone’s legs gave out and they collapsed directly onto the floor.
Cursing a god?
Using such… such “creative” vocabulary and such specific threats?
Cursing a powerful goddess famous for wisdom and war?
He was not only trash.
He was not only abandoned by the gods.
He had gone insane.
Completely insane.
