Chapter 3 : Chapter 3
Chapter 3 - The Heaven-Gazing Profound Bird
Just then, outside the ward, two police officers wearing light blue short-sleeved shirts and dark blue trousers stepped inside.
These two officers were a man and a woman.
The leading male officer was about forty years old. His square face was as sharply defined as if it were carved, and his expression was so serious it seemed to freeze the air.
The female officer following behind him held a notebook. She had her hair in a ponytail and a playful look on her face, appearing like a university student who had not yet experienced the storms of the world.
"Hello, we are officers from the Guangming Police Station. I am Li Zhong. We are here regarding the incident in the residential area. If it’s convenient, we would like to ask the involved party some questions."
The area where Lin Zhi lived was called Guangming Residential Area. Just outside the main entrance was the Guangming Police Station.
So, as soon as they heard an incident had occurred, Li Zhong took the young girl who had just graduated and was interning to the scene. After an investigation, they arrived at the hospital.
Hearing this, Father and Mother Lin stepped aside to make room by the bed.
Seeing the police arrive, Lin Zhi felt a surge of joy.
He had been racking his brain on how to explain who this extra girl was to his parents. He hadn't expected a savior to arrive so soon.
Before Li Zhong could even start questioning, Lin Zhi spoke up impatiently. "Hello, Officer. I am Lin Zhi's classmate. I went to find him today."
"When I was downstairs, a violent wind suddenly rose, and then heavy rain poured down. The sky turned pitch black in an instant."
"Because visibility was severely affected, I accidentally fell and hit my head, losing consciousness. A passing neighbor saw me and called an ambulance, so we came to the hospital."
The intern female officer was recording Lin Zhi's words stroke by stroke.
As for Li Zhong, despite having been a soldier for many years and then a police officer, he had seen countless storms.
Yet, upon seeing Lin Zhi, who was dressed in a long skirt and looked like a fairy descended from heaven, he couldn't help but be entranced, freezing in place.
Because the weather was dark at the time and the cameras in the area were like blind eyes, they hadn't captured what happened upstairs.
After some simple questions and answers, Li Zhong classified the incident as a natural disaster. After some brief pleasantries, Li Zhong and the intern girl hurriedly left the ward.
Watching the officers' backs disappear, Lin Zhi looked at "himself" on the bed. Although he still had much to say, he knew he shouldn't stay there right now.
Lin Zhi winked at the other party, his expression saying, "Don't be afraid, I'm here." Then he spoke to his parents by the bed.
"Dad..."
"Um... Uncle, Auntie, then I shall take my leave. I will come to visit you both another day."
In his eighteen years of life, this was the first time Lin Zhi had called his own parents "Uncle" and "Auntie." He felt extremely depressed. After declining his parents' offer for him to stay, Lin Zhi walked out of the room.
Outside the hospital entrance, looking at the bustling streets, Lin Zhi was temporarily at a loss.
"Where should I go?"
He decided to contact Fatso first. Lin Zhi reached down to pull out his phone, but he immediately fell into misery again.
"Damn it!"
Lin Zhi suddenly realized that this body, aside from his soul, had nothing that belonged to him. Let alone a phone, that was still lying back on the hospital bed.
Helpless, Lin Zhi had to return to the ward.
Inside the ward, Mother Lin was looking worriedly at "Lin Zhi," who was lying on the bed in silence.
Ever since Father and Mother Lin entered the ward, her "son" had not said a single word.
Just as she was wondering whether she should call the doctor again, she saw the female classmate who had just left walk back in.
Mother Lin was slightly surprised. Her gaze landed on this returning classmate, and she seemed to sense something unusual.
Mother Lin then stood up, took two steps forward, and tightly gripped Lin Zhi’s hand, pointing to a stool against the wall.
"Classmate, you came at the right time. Sit down first. I have something I need your help with."
"Auntie, please speak!" Lin Zhi said steadily. He was just worrying about how to talk to his parents.
If his mother was the one opening the conversation, he would definitely agree to whatever she asked.
"Sigh..."
Mother Lin sighed, her face full of worry.
"Since your uncle and I arrived at the hospital, 'Lin Zhi' hasn't said a word. I'm a bit worried about him. I was thinking, could you stay and look after him?"
Hearing this, Lin Zhi agreed without hesitation.
"Your uncle and I will go home first to pack some things. We will come back to the hospital to relieve you once we’ve finished cooking."
A relieved smile appeared on Mother Lin's face. She reached out and patted the back of Lin Zhi’s hand. "You’re a good girl with a good personality, and you’re so beautiful."
After saying that, she pulled the worried and silent Father Lin out of the room.
Lin Zhi had a strange expression. He turned his head to look at "himself" on the bed, who was lying sideways and secretly watching him.
The moment their eyes met, she pretended as if nothing had happened and lay back down.
Lin Zhi lightly pursed his slightly dry lips. He moved to the bedside and sat firmly on the stool with his legs apart and his hands resting naturally on his thighs.
He had an exquisite face and a good figure, looking like a heroic yet gentle swordswoman, adding a unique charm to the cramped ward.
"Um, Miss, I still don't know how to address you."
"Lin Zhi" on the bed looked grave. She spoke slowly in a cold tone. "I am of the Heaven-Gazing Profound Bird Clan. As for a name, you may call me Heaven-Gazing Profound Bird."
Lin Zhi shook his head helplessly. "Do you not have a name?"
It was no wonder Lin Zhi complained. Such a name would likely be seen as a delusional teenager or a lunatic on Earth.
"Lin Zhi" on the bed blushed, appearing angry. She gave a light huff and stared straight at Lin Zhi.
"Cough, cough."
Lin Zhi used a cough to cover his embarrassment.
"It’s indeed inconvenient to address you without a name. How about you pick one randomly?"
"Lin Zhi" on the bed showed a look of doubt. Her eyes darted around as she pondered for a long time. Then, she looked at Lin Zhi seriously.
"You decide." After saying that, she fell silent.
She naturally had her own name, but she couldn't speak it right now for fear that her pursuers would find a trace of her.
"Fine, you're an arrogant one," Lin Zhi muttered to himself.
"Since you’re called the Heaven-Gazing Profound Bird, it just so happens we have an idiom here about birds singing and flowers being fragrant. How about I call you Lin Hua? What do you think?"
Hearing this, Lin Hua turned her head slightly and glared at Lin Zhi in annoyance, revealing a look of resistance.
However, she then understood it was only a temporary name.
She lowered her head and said no more.
The obedience of an arrogant girl?
"Lin Hua, now it’s time to talk about what exactly is going on." Seeing that she remained silent, Lin Zhi asked.
After waiting for about ten minutes, to the point where Lin Zhi began to wonder if the other party had fallen asleep, Lin Hua finally spoke.
With just one sentence, Lin Zhi was left with a face full of shock!
