Ch. 17
As Su Xiao listened, she thought to herself, The Mountain Lord of Qi must be extremely powerful and prestigious if these demonic beasts and Refined Spirits fear him so much. Even after seven days, they still didn’t dare enter this place until Bai Yiyi suddenly barged in. That means the Mountain Lord is clearly a being above Refined Spirits! And above Refined Spirits… could that be demons?
Thinking of the reactions of the dire wolf and the other demonic beasts, Su Xiao became more and more certain that above Refined Spirits were indeed demons.
On the surface, Su Xiao remained completely calm. Her smile was mysterious and elegant, as if she was not surprised at all by the disappearance of the Mountain Lord.
This subtle reaction caused slight changes in the expressions of the three demonic beasts and Refined Spirit present. As for the Dread Wolf and the Armored Crocodile, there was no need to mention them. The disappearance of the Mountain Lord was a major event. Now that several days had passed, it would not be surprising if some fairies coveting the Mountain Lord’s throne had been drawn here.
The Qingluo Snake, Luo Yi, carefully observed the mysterious fairy who looked like a human woman. With the Mountain Lord gone, it was possible that some nearby mountain lords with ill intentions had come hoping to plunder the territory. However, among the surrounding mountain lords, there were only a few who had become demons, and none matched the appearance of this woman.
Of course, Luo Yi also considered another possibility—that she might have come from the center of the mountain range. There, fairies were not rare.
The greatest characteristic of demons was their ability to transform into human form. They could awaken bloodline abilities and wield all kinds of strange powers. They could soar through the sky, burrow through the earth, summon wind and rain; mysterious and incredible.
Proud as the Qingluo Snake Luo Yi was, at this moment it had to face the terrifying reality of life and death.
Her appearance is extremely close to that of a human, but the exposed ears and tail, along with the faint demonic aura around her body, all prove her identity. Although I’m not like those demonic beasts who can only wait to be slaughtered, escaping from under the watchful eyes of a demon would not be easy, Luo Yi thought to itself.
Compared with the Dread Wolf and the others, Luo Yi was not nearly as miserable. Its snake venom still had some effect even on beings at the level of fairies, so it was not completely without the ability to fight back. But if it truly provoked her, the probability of being killed was close to one hundred percent—of this, Luo Yi was absolutely certain. At best, if it died, it could bite her once before going down.
While Luo Yi hesitated, it saw the woman’s gaze settle on him. The look was elegant and gentle, yet it made the cold-blooded creature feel a bone-chilling cold. Her red lips parted slightly, causing Luo Yi’s pupils to expand involuntarily.
“Qingluo Snakes… if I remember correctly, they should inhabit the great marshlands. How did you end up in this region?”
The Qingluo Snake was a branch race of the Luo snakes. Yet within Mount Qi, and even across hundreds of miles of surrounding mountains, not a single creature knew that Luo Yi truly came from the Limeng Great Marsh.
The demonic beasts and Refined Spirits of Mount Qi only knew that it came from the center of the mountain range. They had no idea what that center truly meant, nor what the Limeng Great Marsh was, and certainly did not know its true race.
At the center of the mountain range there was a vast marsh called the Limeng Great Marsh. Within it lived a powerful demon race, the Luo snakes.
And the green snake Luo Yi belonged to the Qingluo Snake branch of that race.
Yet all of these were secrets hidden in Luo Yi’s heart, and the girl before it had casually revealed them!
She came from the center of the mountain range! Luo Yi was shaken. At this moment, it completely confirmed the guess in its heart.
The Luo Snake clan was also a powerful demon race within the Lishang Mountain Range. Yet when the girl mentioned the Luo Snakes, her tone was casual and indifferent, as though the race was nothing remarkable in her eyes.
Luo Yi stared at the fluffy, pointed ears atop her silver-white hair. Suddenly enlightenment struck its mind. It had finally realized the girl’s identity!
One of the three royal bloodlines of the Lishang Mountain Range, the Nine-Tailed Bloodline!
The Phantom Moon Heart Fox!
