My Life in Wednesday With a Vampire System

Chapter 220 210 : Woke Up

The next day, the peaceful atmosphere inside the house lasted for less than five minutes after Kimiko woke up.

Aqua ran across the living room, desperately dodging whatever Kimiko could grab within reach. A cushion flew past her head, followed by a book, then a small decorative vase that shattered against the wall.

"Hey! Stop throwing things at me!" Aqua shouted, ducking behind the sofa.

Kimiko didn't answer. She had woken up in an unfamiliar place surrounded by strangers, and the blue-haired woman screaming in her face had done absolutely nothing to improve the situation.

Ethan sat comfortably on the sofa, sipping what looked like coffee but was actually blood, calmly watching the chaos unfold in front of him.

"Hey, Ethan, aren't you going to do something?" Aqua complained, narrowly avoiding another projectile.

He didn't even bother looking up. "Can I not enjoy my morning drink in peace? You're both creating problems before breakfast."

"She's trying to kill me!"

Ethan finally glanced toward Kimiko. "She is Japanese. If you know Japanese, then speak Japanese instead of running around screaming."

Aqua immediately stopped, eyes widening. Then she proudly raised a hand as if addressing an audience. "Stop this at once!" she declared in Japanese.

"You are attempting to harm the great Goddess Aqua! Cease your rudeness immediately and show proper respect!"

Kimiko paused. The sudden use of her own language caught her completely off guard. She lowered the object in her hand and stared at Aqua with obvious confusion.

Aqua noticed the attacks had stopped and naturally reached the wrong conclusion. A triumphant smile spread across her face. She placed both hands on her hips and lifted her chin.

"See? Even in another world, people recognize true divinity."

Ethan finished his drink and set the cup down.

"Don't sell yourself so highly. She stopped because she finally understood what you were saying and decided you were too pathetic to be a threat."

"What kind of horrible interpretation is that?"

"The realistic one."

Kimiko looked back and forth between them, then raised her hands and began signing.

Ethan watched for a few seconds before answering in Japanese. "Yeah, I didn't understand all of that, but I got the important part. You want to leave."

Kimiko nodded immediately, without hesitation.

"That's not possible right now. Vought is looking for you, and the moment you step outside without a plan, they'll find you again."

The situation surrounding Kimiko was far more complicated than she realized. Her very existence was connected to one of Homelander's schemes.

By secretly spreading Compound V to terrorist groups overseas, he had created the exact threat Vought wanted — if super-powered enemies appeared around the world, governments would have no choice but to rely on superheroes and eventually bring Supes into military operations on a global scale.

Compound V was already the most dangerous substance on the planet, and Vought protected that secret more fiercely than anything else.

People like Kimiko weren't accidents in their eyes — they were proof the experiment was working beyond American borders.

Whether she had been an intended result or not no longer mattered. The moment Homelander learned she was free, recovering her would become a priority.

Kimiko listened quietly, then signed again.

"But you still want to leave?"

She nodded once more. Immediate.

Ethan rubbed his forehead. "And go where? Japan is on the other side of the world. You don't speak English, you have no documents, no money, and before you even get close to an airport, somebody working for Vought will find you."

Kimiko lowered her hands.

For a moment, silence filled the room.

"But I can help you," Ethan said in Japanese. "Your brother, Kenji, should be coming to America soon enough. If you want, you can stay here and wait for him."

Kimiko's expression changed instantly — shock, then suspicion. She stepped back, lowering into a fighting stance, staring at him. How did he know about Kenji?

"Just think of it as one of my abilities. There is no need to become hostile again."

Kimiko didn't move. Every instinct told her to be cautious. Nobody should know about her brother. Nobody.

"I mean, becoming hostile doesn't really achieve anything. You couldn't even leave a scratch on me earlier, so attacking me again would just waste both of our time."

He slowly extended one hand.

"If you're still not convinced, we can fight again right now. Maybe the second round will go differently."

Kimiko watched him for several seconds. Gradually the tension in her shoulders disappeared. Instead of attacking she began signing again.

Ethan followed her movements. "Oh." Understanding crossed his face. "So there is someone you want to kill."

Kimiko's expression hardened. The woman who sold her. The woman responsible for everything. The hatred behind those memories had never faded.

"Fair enough. Revenge stories are perfectly reasonable." He leaned back into the sofa and casually pointed toward the front door.

"You can go kill her yourself if that's what you want. I have absolutely no objections. The door's right there, and nobody here is going to stop you."

A small pause.

"Just make sure you come back afterward. Hunting people across a foreign country without money, documents, or a place to sleep tends to get troublesome rather quickly."

Kimiko remained silent. For the first time since waking up, the strange man in front of her was offering choices instead of giving orders. That alone made him different from everyone else she had met.
