Chapter 225 : Chapter 225
Chapter 225. Locked in a Chaotic Battle
Dragon Mother Daenerys stood atop the city wall, her silver-white hair snapping wildly in the fierce wind.
She looked up at the three Behemoth Giants blotting out the sky, her fingertips icy cold.
These monsters that seemed to have walked out of ancient scrolls could tear space apart with every swipe of their claws. Even the Giant Dragons under her contract were uneasily breathing out Dragonfire.
Opposite them in midair, the auras of more than a dozen Domain-Level Powerhouses pressed down like dark clouds. On her side, even counting the three who had barely advanced with the aid of Impure Divinity, there were only seven.
The difference was like a chasm lying across the center of the battlefield.
“We must request reinforcements.”
Daenerys removed a dark-gold Reverse Scale from her neck. The scale was covered in ancient dragon patterns, a token left to her by the Ancient Dragon who had slumbered for ten thousand years deep within Dragon Island.
With trembling fingers, she poured Mana into it. The Reverse Scale suddenly lit up like a beating heart, then turned into a stream of light that shot into the clouds and vanished.
At that moment, the three Behemoths moved.
Their giant claws swept forward with a shriek that tore through the air, lunging straight toward the city wall. The stone bricks cracked in advance beneath the wind from their claws, and the soldiers atop the wall were sent flying as screams rang out one after another.
“Go!” Daenerys shouted sharply.
The three Domain Giant Dragons beside her soared into the sky at the same time. Golden Dragonfire poured down like a waterfall, striking the Behemoths’ thick hides and bursting into sparks across the sky.
The leading Bronze Behemoth let out a furious roar. Its giant claw swept sideways, forcibly knocking the Dragonfire askew. Then it opened its bloody maw and bit toward a Giant Dragon’s wing.
The sky instantly became an inferno. The roars of Giant Dragons and the howls of Behemoths shook the earth. The scorched stench of Dragonfire burning flesh mingled with the poisonous gas exhaled by the Behemoths, spreading through the air above the battlefield.
The wing of one Domain Giant Dragon was torn by the tip of a Behemoth’s claw, scattering a trail of blood. In pain, it suddenly twisted around, its dragon tail lashing hard against the Behemoth’s skull, yet it left only a few shallow white marks.
Daenerys stood atop the wall, watching as the Giant Dragons on her side gradually fell into disadvantage. It felt as though her heart had been clenched by a giant claw.
The bottle of Divinity refined through forbidden means had indeed produced three Domain-Level Powerhouses, but before the Behemoths, that strength was nothing more than a cup of water before a burning cart.
She raised her head and looked toward the clouds. The Reverse Scale’s signal had already been sent, but would reinforcements from Dragon Island still come? Would that slumbering Ancient Dragon open its eyes once more for a human contractor?
High in the sky, one Behemoth seized an opening in a Giant Dragon’s defense and stabbed its giant claws viciously into the dragon’s abdomen.
The Giant Dragon let out a shrill cry. Golden blood fell like rain, splashing onto the city wall and burning out hissing white smoke.
Another Domain Giant Dragon seized the chance. A Draconic Spell struck the Bronze Behemoth directly, and the brilliant light unleashed by the spell tore through the clouds. The Bronze Behemoth’s arm snapped off in response, and it let out a deafening howl of pain.
A sharp gleam flashed through Daenerys’s eyes, and she raised her arm with a shout.
“Now!”
The two remaining Domain Giant Dragons roared and pounced. Their dragon claws tore open the Behemoth’s thick skin, and golden blood mixed with the Behemoth’s dark-green fluids, splashing through the air.
Seeing this, the Orc Domain-Level Powerhouses below waved their giant axes and Bone Staffs and joined the chaotic battle. Runes and Dou Qi wove together into a net, smashing fiercely toward the Behemoth’s wound.
“Kill!”
Daenerys pointed her long sword forward, and Kroll’s Domain-Level Powerhouses shot out like arrows loosed from bowstrings, stepping onto Cloud Ladders as they charged into the air to clash with the Orcs.
Sword shadows, axe light, and halos of magic erupted between heaven and earth. Screams and roars shook the ground until it trembled.
Below the city, Xilan clenched his fists tightly as he watched the deadlocked battle in the sky.
Although the Behemoth had lost an arm and was struggling to hold on, the frenzied counterattack from the Orcs was gradually suppressing his side’s Domain-Level Powerhouses.
He abruptly turned and shouted at his Adjutant, “Pass down my order. Deploy the Experimental Legion.”
The light of the Communication Crystal flickered in the Adjutant’s palm, then fell silent a moment later.
“The Experimental Legion has received the order and is standing by,” the Adjutant reported in a low voice.
From the direction of the Abandoned Mine on the Western Slope, the sound of uniform marching suddenly rang out, like countless heavy hammers striking the earth.
Amid the spreading dust, the figures of two Experimental Legions appeared.
Their silver-gray armor gleamed with a cold, hard light beneath the morning sun. The soldiers were expressionless, their movements as precise as puppets on strings, shoulder to shoulder as they formed a steel torrent.
After discussion, Xilan directly ordered the Heart of Steel and the Hand of Courage to escort the Experimental Legions into the heart of the Orc army. Once the two Experimental Legions arrived there, the escorting Legions could return.
This mission was extremely dangerous, but the two Legion Commanders accepted it without the slightest hesitation.
The Heart of Steel marched at the front, raising Massive Shields to form an airtight Shield Wall. Runes engraved on the shield surfaces flowed with pale-blue light.
The Hand of Courage followed close behind, their weapons ready to strike. The two Legions were like a sharp wedge, driving through the opening at the city gate and stabbing fiercely into the Orc formation.
The array of the Orc Legions was instantly torn open, and screams rose one after another.
But at that moment, a muffled hum suddenly came from the depths of the Orc Main Camp.
It was the sound of Super Magic Crystal Cannons charging.
“Careful!” Xilan roared from atop the wall.
Three crimson beams of energy tore through the air, shooting straight toward the Shield Wall of the Experimental Legions.
A’gu, the Legion Commander of the Heart of Steel, let out a furious roar. The Runes on the Shield Wall instantly erupted with dazzling blue light. The energy beams slammed into the shields, stirring up ripples of energy that filled the air.
The Shield Wall trembled violently. The soldiers in the front row groaned and sprayed out blood mist, but in the end, they withstood the first wave of bombardment.
“Continue advancing.”
The voice of the Legion Commander of the Heart of Steel came through Dou Qi, hoarse like grinding metal.
The Experimental Legions continued forward, stepping over the bloodstains of their companions. But immediately after, even denser cannon fire arrived in succession.
This time, seven beams swept over in a fan shape, their angles so tricky that they avoided the front of the Shield Wall.
The soldiers of the Hand of Courage immediately counterattacked. Magical attacks collided with the beams from the Magic Crystal Cannons in midair and annihilated one another, yet two beams still landed on the flank of the Legions.
BOOM!
Amid the explosion, more than a dozen experimental soldiers were sent flying. Their armor melted under the intense heat, and they did not even have time to explode.
A slight gap appeared in the Shield Wall of the Heart of Steel. The Orcs seized the opportunity, and Wolf Riders surged through the opening like a tide, waving their battle axes as they hacked at the experimental soldiers who had lost their protection.
The advance of the Experimental Legions slowed sharply.
Their firepower was fierce, but they could not withstand the continuous bombardment of the Magic Crystal Cannons combined with the Orcs’ human-wave tactics. The Runes on the Shield Wall gradually dimmed, and soldiers of the Heart of Steel fell one after another. The gaps in the Shield Wall grew wider and wider.
On the city wall, Xilan watched this scene, his heart feeling as though it had been gripped by a hand.
Almost there. Almost there. They are about to reach the heart of the beast tide.
“Have the Sky Knight Order dive down and destroy their cannon positions!” Xilan roared at the Adjutant.
In the distant sky, several silver shadows dove downward, Dragonfire scorching the Orc artillery positions.
But the Orcs had long been prepared. The Shaman Priests waved their Bone Staffs and summoned black thunderstorms, forcing the Knight Order to retreat step by step.
