Chapter 195 : Chapter 195
Chapter 195. God of Storms Al’Akir, God of Earth Tyrwin
However, in the next second, the gray figure rose directly into the air, and golden dotted lines spread outward from around him.
The golden lines unfurled like a spiderweb, landing precisely above everyone’s head.
It was an irresistible pull. Their life force slowly drained away along the lines. The weapons in the soldiers’ hands began to tremble, and even their breathing grew sluggish.
The gray figure hovered in midair, his tattered robe snapping loudly in the wind. His voice remained calm, yet it carried unquestionable pressure, as though he were stating something perfectly ordinary.
“Those who desecrate the gods shall offer their lives as sacrifice.”
“God said, let there be light!”
The Bishop’s roar nearly cracked his voice. He thrust his Scepter into the ground, and brilliant Holy Light shot into the sky like an erupting volcano, condensing in midair into a massive cross-shaped barrier in an attempt to block the spread of the golden lines.
Yet the instant the Holy Light collided with the lines, it rapidly dimmed as though snow and ice were melting away. Blood spilled from the Bishop’s mouth, and despair covered his face. This was not a power he could contend with.
The Shadow Mages of the Blackgold Empire chanted their spells in unison. Thick black mist surged out from beneath their black robes, transforming into ferocious shadow beasts that pounced toward the gray figure.
But the moment those beasts drew near the golden lines, they were torn apart by an invisible force.
Shrill screams came from within the black mist. The mages’ bodies withered at a visible speed, clearly having their Mana drained in reverse.
The general of the Radiant Sun Empire clenched his teeth so hard they cracked. He took out a talisman tablet burning with flames from his chest and crushed it with force.
“Lady Katya, Demigod, save us.”
The talisman tablet turned into a streak of fire and shot straight into the sky, exploding into a splendid blaze of sparks. This was the contractual signal between the empire and the Demigod. Whether it could summon help depended entirely on luck.
The suction force of the golden lines suddenly intensified. Many soldiers had already collapsed to the ground, their skin losing all color as the light in their eyes quickly went out.
William pulled Lynn behind a crack in the stone and felt the stabbing pain of his life force being slowly drawn away. His heart pounded wildly.
He saw a violent burst of green light erupt in the direction of the wooden house where Pandora was, clearly showing that the elf was also resisting with her last strength. But that green light soon weakened, so her situation was likely no better.
BOOM!
A tremendous crash came from the east. A figure clad in flaming armor descended along a line of fire. The long blade in his hand split the air, slashing toward the golden lines with a scorching wave of heat.
“What kind of evil god dares act so wantonly in human territory?”
It was the Demigod Powerhouse of the Radiant Sun Empire.
The gray figure finally glanced sideways. He looked at the Demigod indifferently, and his fingertip moved slightly. A golden line suddenly changed direction and wrapped around the Demigod’s armor like a venomous snake.
The Demigod’s expression changed drastically. He swung his blade to cut it, only to discover that the line was unbelievably tough. When the blade light struck it, it merely left behind a ripple.
He could clearly feel the Divine Power in his body draining away rapidly, and the flames on his armor quickly dimmed.
“You are merely a newly advanced Demigod, yet you dare make noise before me?”
The gray figure’s voice carried a trace of mockery. He raised his other hand and pointed toward the Bishop behind the Holy Light barrier.
“Your Holy Light is somewhat interesting. Was the God of Light not already driven away by the Ancient Council? How can he still have believers left behind?”
“How strange.”
The Bishop’s pupils contracted sharply. He turned and tried to flee, but a golden line wrapped around him tightly, and his body was instantly dragged into the air.
He looked desperately toward the Holy Light Aresos Empire. A distress signal had risen from there as well, yet no Demigod appeared.
Clearly, the other side had sensed the terror here and chosen to watch from the sidelines.
“The Ancient Council… will not let you go…”
The Bishop’s voice grew weaker and weaker, and his body gradually turned transparent within the golden line.
The gray figure chuckled, as though he had heard a joke.
“The Ancient Council? They still need to watch over that long-rotted divine tomb. How would they have the time to care about this place?”
William watched this scene, his heart nearly leaping into his throat.
He pulled Lynn along and quietly moved toward the outside of the city amid the chaos.
Staying here meant certain death. Lynn’s expression was also ugly. The Divinity he had just absorbed was stirring restlessly inside him, clearly suppressed harshly by that terrifying power.
Just as they were about to approach the city gate, the gray figure’s gaze suddenly swept toward them. Those pupil-less eyes seemed able to pierce through every obstacle.
“Two little insects hiding in the corner also want to escape?”
A golden line shot over like a sharp arrow, carrying the aura of death.
Just then, a sigh rang out.
“God of Storms Al’Akir, you should know that you cannot slaughter the Native Inhabitants of the Ninth Continent excessively.”
As soon as the words fell, a golden figure stepped out of the void.
Al’Akir curled his lip in disdain.
“Why is it you? Where are those fellows? You divided my body into several pieces and scattered them across multiple continents. Do you want to do it again? Have you no shame before me?”
The appearance of the golden figure caused the suction force of the golden lines to suddenly stagnate. It was a gentle yet heavy power, like a calm lake, able to contain everything without being shaken.
The golden light around him was not dazzling, yet it made the gray aura around Al’Akir instinctively shrink back a little.
“The duty of the Ancient Council is to maintain the balance of the various continents.”
The golden figure’s voice carried a sigh.
“We sealed you back then because the storm you caused nearly tore the Third Continent apart. Dividing your body was also meant to let your violence subside while you slept. It was not directed at you personally.”
“Balance?”
Al’Akir sneered. His body hovering in the air gradually solidified, revealing a sharp, angular face. Beneath his gray robe, scales covered in flickering lightning could be seen faintly.
“You took away my power and made me sleep like a stray dog in the cracks between the continents. And now you come here to speak to me of balance?”
He raised his hand and pointed at the soldiers below who were struggling on the edge of death.
“These people covet my Divinity and plunder my power. Should they be allowed to live?”
The golden lines stirred restlessly again, and several dying soldiers were instantly drained of the last traces of their life force.
“They are at fault, and the Council will deliver its judgment.”
The golden figure stepped forward. Golden light surged like a tide across half the city, and the people tangled in the golden lines immediately felt the pressure ease.
“But if you slaughter all the Native Inhabitants of the Ninth Continent, the Council will never stand by and do nothing.”
“Oh?”
Al’Akir raised an eyebrow, lightning flashing in his eyes.
“With just you? Tyrwin, you are nothing more than a dog raised by the Council. Do you truly think you can stop me?”
The golden figure called Tyrwin did not grow angry. He merely looked at him calmly.
“I cannot stop you, but the Council’s ‘Gatekeeper’ is already on the way. You should know very well that his power is enough to make you fall into deep sleep once more.”
Al’Akir’s expression finally changed slightly.
The “Gatekeeper” was the true combat strength of the Ancient Council, one of the guardians who had existed since the beginning of creation. Back when Al’Akir was sealed, it was those people who had struck the hardest.
He glanced at the trembling remnants of the Three Great Empires below, then looked at William and Lynn, who were quietly edging away in the distance. A trace of unwillingness flashed in his gray pupils.
“You are ruthless.”
