My Wife is a Big Star

Chapter 43 : I Want to Marry You!

Chapter 43 - I Want to Marry You!

Inside Diamond KTV.

A group of young ladies were singing at the top of their lungs.

Regardless of how well they actually sang, their voices were incredibly loud, and they were clearly having a wonderful time.

Busy with work on a regular basis, they had finally managed to get together for some KTV, so they naturally had to vent their feelings properly.

The atmosphere was extremely heated.

Suddenly, the door to the private booth swung open.

The young ladies were startled and let out a series of screams.

"Who are you?!"

"What are you doing? Where's the waiter?!"

"This is our booth, please leave!"

Two of the more formidable young ladies stepped forward, blocking everyone else's path.

Click.

The lights were switched on.

Only then did the young ladies see clearly that quite a few people had entered. One was holding a microphone, and another was carrying a professional camera on their shoulder.

They were dazed.

"Hello, beautiful ladies! We are staff members from the Entertainment Channel's I Love Remembering Lyrics program crew. First, please do not be alarmed, because this is a lucky moment.

Congratulations! You have been selected as lucky contestants by our I Love Remembering Lyrics crew. You will have the opportunity to go on television and participate in I Love Remembering Lyrics. As long as you are willing to participate, you will have the chance to win a 20,000 yuan cash prize and a 50,000 yuan public welfare fund for each episode!"

The on-location host spoke very quickly, but while his speed was fast, his articulation was crystal clear; everyone present could understand him.

The group of young ladies was stunned. "TV station? Program? Lucky contestants?"

The host nodded. "You heard right. This gentleman beside me is the manager of Diamond KTV; he can prove that I am not lying..."

Under the manager's explanation, the ladies checked the staff IDs and did a quick search online, finally confirming that there really was such a program.

"We are now inviting you to participate in the recording of the first episode. As long as you can successfully complete the challenge, you can win a 20,000 yuan cash prize. Even if you are eliminated, there will be a beautifully crafted gift for you..." The host took a card from the manager's hand and continued,

"And a 2,000 yuan Hi-Sing card provided by Diamond KTV!"

It had to be said that the host's speech was extremely inflammatory, and given the easily excited atmosphere of a KTV, one of the young ladies agreed immediately without even thinking about it.

The same scene played out continuously across several KTV locations. Aside from one or two people who were shy and refused because they didn't want to be on TV, everyone else agreed.

Within two days, the program was ready for recording.

There were two hosts: a male host, Zhang Chengyu, who had been transferred from Satellite TV, and a female host from the Entertainment Channel, Yu Xiaoyou.

There were quite a few audience members. Some were hired by the crew, some were fans of the lead singers (though these were fewer), and others were the friends and relatives of the contestants. In any case, the small studio was packed to capacity.

This wasn't Chen Ran's first time witnessing the live recording of a variety show. This program's recording was relatively casual, with very few NGs.

Basically, everyone was just happily playing games together. Aside from the contestants being a bit nervous because they knew they were going on TV and had cameras pointed at them from several angles, everything was going quite well.

On the other hand, the performances of the lead singers were truly excellent.

When Chen Ran was selecting the lead singers, he didn't have high requirements for physical appearance; he had focused solely on picking those with the best singing skills, resulting in a full set of different builds—tall, short, fat, and thin.

The main point was that everyone's vocal characteristics were different. For example, the bearded, short, chubby guy had a deep, powerful voice, and his high notes were incredibly shocking. Following the music of the live band, his performance was very solid.

The contrast between his voice and his physical appearance left the studio audience exclaiming in surprise. When the high notes hit, the scene erupted into cheers.

One contestant was even so dazed from listening that they missed their cue to sing the lyrics.

The host, Yu Xiaoyou, smiled and said, "Lead singer, please, let's do it one more time!"

This time, although the contestant was still awestruck, they managed to follow along.

Director Wu Jin let out a chuckle and said to Chen Ran, "I told you I trusted you. These people you chose are truly excellent!"

Chen Ran smiled and said, "Director, please stop praising me. By the way, don't cut that segment where we had to start over just now; keep all of it."

Director Wu Jin naturally understood. After all, he had been making programs for almost as long as Chen Ran had been alive.

……

Amidst cheers and laughter, the program recording concluded.

"Thank you, everyone! Please exit in an orderly fashion according to your seats. We have prepared a small commemorative gift for everyone. We wish you a happy day, every day!"

The host thanked the audience from the stage before finally making his exit.

"Perfect!"

Director Wu Jin clapped his hands.

He was quite satisfied with the results. Even without editing, the live experience alone was excellent.

Furthermore, the program segments were designed to be very engaging and didn't feel dull at all.

The lead singers, in particular, added a lot of color to the show—one could even say they were an indispensable part of it. After all, they appeared in every episode, while the contestants changed every time.

They had spent a lot of money and effort to select these lead singers; now, it seemed that time was very well spent!

Next, they just had to wait for the editing to be finished and for the station to give the word.

Chen Ran was also very satisfied with the program. It was basically the result he wanted.

Compared to the programs he had seen in his previous life, there were many differences; after all, it was a different world and a different era, so there had to be changes.

"You take a break for now and wait for news from the station. Then we'll continue recording the second episode," Director Wu Jin said to Chen Ran.

Programs aren't recorded and broadcast one at a time; there must be preparations. No one knows if a sudden situation will occur during recording that prevents a session, so it was safer to have a few episodes recorded in advance.

Variety shows with celebrities have to wait for the stars' schedules, but I Love Remembering Lyrics didn't have to. As long as everyone could handle the workload, they could even do one episode a day.

Of course, before that, the final cut had to be edited. Once the station felt it was good, they would immediately set a time slot and begin promotion.

To be honest, given the station's current level of tolerance for Boundless Joy, Chen Ran felt they could completely just set the premiere for next Friday.

It wasn't that he was conceited, but the ratings for that show had dropped so low they were almost unwatchable.

Even if they just pulled out any random program, as long as it was slightly better than Boundless Joy, the station would push it to the front first.

Chen Ran rested at home for a day. He was messing around with the guitar, feeling like he was figuring something out, but it was still incredibly difficult.

"If only I were a genius!" Unable to get it right, Chen Ran tossed the guitar aside, feeling very melancholic.

Of course, the melancholy only lasted a moment. Having songs in his head actually gave him more of an advantage than some geniuses, so he didn't dare to be picky.

He would just have to keep learning.

He waited at home, but the first news to arrive wasn't about the editing being finished or the program being scheduled—it was a phone call from Zhang Fanzhi.

"I'm coming back again."

"Not leaving this time."

"I'm not going to be a star anymore, either."

Zhang Fanzhi's voice was very low, and her speech was slurred; she sounded like she was drunk.

Chen Ran's brow furrowed. "Where are you?"

Zhang Fanzhi didn't answer. She let out a hiccup and then said,

"I've decided. I want to marry you. Marry..."
