Chapter 29 : An Amazing Program
Chapter 29 - An Amazing Program
Chen Ran, for his part, had no idea what Lin Fan was thinking.
Before Director Zhang mentioned it, he didn’t even know his competitor’s name.
Today was Monday, and he was still dealing with those persons in charge.
“This program is only a preliminary proposal; I can’t be sure if the station will actually produce it. But if the show is made, it would be natural advertising for your KTV...”
“I’m currently with the Public Channel, but I’m about to be transferred to the Entertainment Channel. Think about it, the Public Channel wouldn’t produce a show like this, right?”
“Ah, okay, thank you. I appreciate your help.”
Chen Ran hung up the phone and shook his head.
He hadn’t slept well again last night, working overtime to complete most of the proposal. Today brought some good news; he had obtained a lot of supporting data, which made his proposal look much more convincing.
Chen Ran checked it meticulously, slowly revising the details.
The program I Love Remembering Lyrics was indeed a bit dated by the standards of his previous life.
Back when the show first emerged, the internet wasn’t as developed, computers weren’t as ubiquitous as they are now, and smartphones were out of the question.
Times are progressing, so your program cannot remain stagnant; it must keep pace with the era.
If you distance yourself from the masses, you will only be abandoned by the masses.
In I Love Remembering Lyrics, leading singers were needed.
The show had no requirements for the singing abilities of the selected guests; they only needed to remember the lyrics.
However, there were requirements for the lead singers: they had to have good vocal skills, be decent-looking, and have pleasant, recognizable voices.
What if there were none ready-made?
Then they would just have to be selected.
After some thought, Chen Ran came up with the idea of collaborating with current singing apps to hold events and select lead singers together.
Nowadays, many people, both men and women, use singing apps. Usually, they go to KTV with friends, but when they want to sing alone, downloading a singing app is naturally much more convenient.
Things like K-song or Changba were quite popular.
Collaborating with these apps would also count as early promotion.
As for how to negotiate the collaboration, that wasn't something for Chen Ran to worry about.
Right now was the “bragging” phase—seeing who could talk up their idea more exquisitely and realistically.
When it came time for implementation later, those things would naturally be resolved one by one.
After consideration, Chen Ran wrote it in.
This single proposal took exactly two days from conceptualization to completion.
When he handed the proposal to Director Zhang, the man was clearly a bit surprised.
“So fast?”
Chen Ran said, “I had a plan in mind and a complete structure, so I wrote it a bit quickly. I'll have to trouble Uncle Zhang to help me refine it.”
With some doubt, Director Zhang opened the proposal and read it through from beginning to end, thoroughly and meticulously.
He then confirmed his inward assessment: this fellow Chen Ran had written a very complete and detailed proposal, and it wasn't just about simply wanting to win this competition.
Even though he had known Chen Ran’s creative idea and the core content of the program beforehand.
Seeing the actual program proposal for the first time really gave him a sense of amazement.
It wasn’t that Director Zhang hadn’t seen proposals written by Chen Ran before; he was the one who had asked Chen Ran to write the one for Zhaonan Focus. However, that news program had truly been just a framework, lacking this many details.
But this one for I Love Remembering Lyrics was different. Chen Ran had written out many details very clearly, and with the addition of detailed data as evidence, every creative point had a solid reason behind it.
The data wasn't just made up either; everything had a source, showing the level of effort Chen Ran had put in.
Judging solely by the proposal, Director Zhang was 98% satisfied. The reason he didn't give a full 100 was because he was afraid Chen Ran would get arrogant.
“The proposal is very good—excellent, in fact. There are some issues with the formatting and some of the text descriptions. Take it back and refine it, then give it to me tomorrow evening.” Director Zhang patted Chen Ran on the shoulder.
Once Chen Ran left, Director Zhang let out a wide grin.
“My family really has stumbled upon a treasure!”
Chen Ran was such a good man—good-tempered, good character, and now it turned out even his ability wasn't lacking. Where else could one find a son-in-law like this?
As far as Director Zhang was concerned, he didn't care about his daughter finding someone incredibly wealthy; she should find someone like Chen Ran, who had a good temperament and great ability. This was the kind of man you could actually build a life with.
He felt fortunate that he had made his move quickly. There were plenty of hosts at the station, and certainly no shortage of beauties. It was only because Chen Ran worked behind the scenes and currently had contact with very few people; otherwise, how could he have secured such a son-in-law!
Whether it was regarding the proposal or Chen Ran himself, Director Zhang was extremely satisfied!
……
In the blink of an eye, it was already Wednesday.
Chen Ran’s proposal had already been submitted. As for what the specific result would be, he had to wait for the notification from above.
Entertainment Channel.
Yang Qijun took off his glasses and wiped them.
Knock, knock, knock.
He said, “Come in,” and Director Liu walked in from outside.
“Director, this is Lin Fan’s proposal; it’s already been written.”
Hearing the name Lin Fan, Yang Qijun thought of the phone call Lin Jun had given him two days ago. He nodded slightly and said:
“Leave it here for now; I’ll take my time looking at it.”
He was quite familiar with the name Lin Fan. He had eaten at Lin Jun’s house and had seen the boy more than once.
Furthermore, since the other party had been in his Entertainment Channel for all these years, he certainly wasn't a stranger.
His evaluation of this person was that his ability was quite good, but his innovation was rather average.
Actually, judging from his ability, he was indeed qualified to be the chief planner for a program.
He flipped through the proposal; it was a plan for a parent-child game show featuring young fathers and mothers, with the target audience positioned toward women.
Yang Qijun nodded slightly. Lin Fan’s proposal was very good, and the game segments within it were quite novel.
This slightly changed his view of Lin Fan. Producing a program according to his line of thinking, the emphasis was prominently on one word: "stable."
The station would definitely produce the program, but for this parent-child show, the model was still too cliché. Even if it was positioned toward young mothers and fathers, it still lacked innovation.
Thinking of what Lin Jun had said, Yang Qijun thought to himself, that Chen Ran is only in his early twenties and has only been at the TV station for a few months. He’s never done entertainment variety before. The proposal he writes will likely be equal to Lin Fan's at best. That won't be difficult to deal with then.
In truth, Yang Qijun wasn't very satisfied with the decision from above either. Their Entertainment Channel was responsible for its own profits and losses; why did the higher-ups have to shove someone in?
Initially, he wanted to refuse directly, but after looking at Chen Ran’s files, he decided to give it a try. If Chen Ran truly was a talent who could write an amazing proposal, he would naturally be happy to take him under his wing.
Conversely, if he couldn't even compare to Lin Fan, there was no use for such a person.
He was quite satisfied with Lin Fan’s proposal; there certainly wouldn't be much of a problem having him as the chief planner for the new program.
Just then.
The computer gave a ding.
An email had arrived.
Chen Ran’s proposal had also been submitted.
Yang Qijun wasn't used to looking at proposals on a computer. If he looked at the screen too much, it caused visual fatigue, making him less sensitive to the text.
He had his secretary print the proposal out and held it in his hands.
I Love Remembering Lyrics?
The name was a bit strange. What type of program was it?
Carrying his doubts, Yang Qijun opened the proposal.
This look lasted for a long time.
His expression shifted from the previous nonchalance to a look of complete amazement by the end.
By the time he set the proposal down, his demeanor had completely changed.
“Lin Jun, oh Lin Jun, it seems your calculations have gone up in smoke!” Yang Qijun shook his head.
