Chapter 22 : Chapter 22
Chapter 22 – Alchemy Assessment
After taking the booklet, Ye Liuyun stood to the side and carefully read through the rules.
First of all, anyone who wished to enter the Alchemy Pavilion to refine pills had to obtain the qualification of an Entry-Level Alchemist.
For Ye Liuyun, this requirement was naturally a piece of cake.
After becoming an Entry-Level Alchemist, one could use the Alchemy Pavilion to refine pills. You could choose to accept tasks released by the Alchemy Pavilion or accept tasks posted by other disciples.
As for alchemy tasks, there was no limit to how many you could accept.
However, they had to be completed within the specified time.
If you failed to complete a task, there were two possible solutions.
The first was to purchase the missing pills yourself to compensate for the unfinished task.
The second was that the sect would deduct several months of your stipend as compensation—and you would still have to accept punishment.
The severity of the punishment depended on how serious the violation was. In extreme cases, you could even be banned from entering the Alchemy Pavilion again.
There were also additional rules.
Each time a task was accepted, the alchemist could go to the medicinal storage room and collect the corresponding amount of ingredients. One portion of ingredients was provided for each pill.
When Ye Liuyun read that part, she suddenly smiled.
One portion of ingredients for one pill?
What a joke. Whenever she refined pills, one portion of ingredients would produce at least ten pills.
In other words, she could practically obtain large quantities of pills and ingredients from the Alchemy Pavilion for free.
“Tsk, tsk… this place seems practically designed specifically for me. I have decided—I will live here,” Ye Liuyun thought happily.
After finishing the booklet, she returned it to the young man.
“Thank you, Senior Brother. I have finished reading it. May I ask who conducts the entry assessment?” Ye Liuyun asked with a smile.
“Normally my master conducts the assessment, but he is not here today. After all, so many things happened yesterday. As an elder, he has to help the Sect Master deal with the situation. However, if my master is absent, my Senior Sister can conduct the assessment instead. She is currently in her private alchemy room. I will take you there,” the young man replied with a smile.
Ye Liuyun nodded gratefully and followed him deeper into the Alchemy Pavilion.
Soon, they arrived outside a relatively secluded alchemy room on the first floor.
The young man walked to the entrance and used his identity token to contact the Senior Sister inside.
The so-called Senior Sister of the Alchemy Pavilion generally referred to Yun Xiao’s direct disciple.
Yun Xiao’s direct disciple was called Nalan Yan. She was a cultivator of the Spirit Pattern Realm and also a Blue Grade alchemist, meaning she could refine pills up to Blue Grade.
After the young man finished contacting his Senior Sister, the door to the alchemy room quickly opened. He entered with a cheerful expression and explained the situation.
Afterward, he stepped out again and gestured for Ye Liuyun to enter.
“Junior Sister, you may go in. Senior Sister says the assessment can begin,” the young man said.
Ye Liuyun smiled faintly and walked inside.
Once she entered, the door closed again. Inside, she saw a cold and elegant woman arranging medicinal ingredients.
The clothing of direct disciples was almost the same as that of Core Disciples. The only difference was that direct disciples wore a white decorative sash.
“Oh? A beautiful lady,” Ye Liuyun could not help but comment when she saw Nalan Yan.
Although the attire of Yunxia Sect disciples above the beginner level was quite similar, those with striking beauty and presence could still be recognized at a glance.
“Greetings, Senior Sister. My name is Ye Liuyu. I am here to participate in the assessment,” Ye Liuyun introduced herself.
Nalan Yan glanced at her and said with mild surprise:
“An entry disciple? Should an entry disciple not be focusing on cultivation? Why have you come to the Alchemy Pavilion? Have you already reached the Spirit Stream Realm?”
“Yes, Senior Sister. I had already reached the Spirit Stream Realm before joining the sect,” Ye Liuyun replied.
Upon hearing this, Nalan Yan understood.
“I see. Use my alchemy furnace and refine a pill. As long as you can produce a White Grade pill, any kind will do,” Nalan Yan instructed.
Ye Liuyun nodded and walked over to Nalan Yan’s alchemy furnace.
“Senior Sister, I would like to refine a White Grade Spirit Gathering Pill. Do you have the ingredients?” Ye Liuyun asked.
Nalan Yan immediately waved her hand, and several portions of ingredients for refining Spirit Gathering Pills flew toward Ye Liuyun and landed beside her.
“These are three portions of ingredients. You have three chances. If all three attempts fail, come back next month. Each disciple only has one chance to take the assessment per month,” Nalan Yan explained.
After hearing this, Ye Liuyun wasted no time.
“Alright, I will begin.”
She raised her hand and skillfully released a flame that resembled jade into the alchemy furnace.
This was not an ordinary flame.
It was the Myriad Elixir Immortal Flame, originating from the Myriad Elixir Immortal Cauldron.
In theory, it belonged to a type of Heavenly Flame.
Heavenly Flames were natural flames born between heaven and earth, and there were many varieties.
For alchemists, Heavenly Flames were priceless treasures. However, subduing one depended on both luck and strength.
The Myriad Elixir Immortal Flame had once been obtained by Lin Qingyou. It was originally called the Emerald Glazed Flame. After she became immortal, the flame merged with her cauldron and became part of the Myriad Elixir Immortal Cauldron.
After Ye Liuyun met Lin Qingyou, she was given a seed of the Myriad Elixir Immortal Flame.
Lin Qingyou no longer needed it.
Therefore, Ye Liuyun now possessed a Heavenly Flame—one that was even more extraordinary than any flame found in this world.
“Eh? Green flames? What kind of flame is that? Could it be a Heavenly Flame?” Nalan Yan was startled when she saw the flame Ye Liuyun released. She immediately set aside what she was doing and walked over.
However, she did not interrupt Ye Liuyun’s alchemy.
Nor was she certain it was truly a Heavenly Flame—it was just that the color was unusual.
After observing carefully, she noticed the flame seemed very gentle, much like ordinary fire, rather than the violent nature typical of Heavenly Flames.
“That gave me quite a scare. I thought it was a Heavenly Flame. It seems not. Perhaps the cultivation method this girl practices simply produces unusual flames,” Nalan Yan said in relief.
But soon, Ye Liuyun’s actions caught her attention again.
Ye Liuyun moved smoothly and effortlessly, placing portion after portion of medicinal ingredients into the furnace in rapid succession.
“This girl is too impatient. Why did she throw all the ingredients into the furnace at once? That is not suitable for extraction,” Nalan Yan thought, assuming Ye Liuyun was inexperienced.
But the next moment proved her wrong.
As soon as the ingredients entered the furnace, they were rapidly refined and purified.
None of them were burned or ruined.
“What? Impossible… she refined three portions of ingredients at once?” Nalan Yan froze in shock and could not help glancing at Ye Liuyun.
Because the alchemical talent Ye Liuyun was displaying was extraordinary.
She could not help sitting beside Ye Liuyun and carefully observing the process.
After the ingredients were purified, the next step was to fuse the essences.
Once the essences were combined, they were mixed with pill powder.
Finally, the pill was formed. After formation, it still needed to be tempered by flame so that the essence could perfectly merge with the pill powder.
Only then would the pill be successfully refined.
Three minutes later—
“Done.”
Ye Liuyun withdrew the Myriad Elixir Immortal Flame, and three white pills rolled out of the furnace.
This was probably the most exhausting alchemy session Ye Liuyun had ever experienced.
She was even sweating.
Of course, the reason she felt tired was not because it was difficult.
It was because she had deliberately restrained her true alchemy skill.
And this was already the maximum degree of restraint she could manage.
