Journey to Become the Zenith

Chapter 403: The Fury of a Warrior Denied

The Fury of a Warrior Denied

Victor looked at them and spoke.

"Is that it? Are you people going to do anything else?"

His voice wasn’t loud, yet it echoed clearly across the silent battlefield.

The six Spirit Rulers instinctively exchanged uneasy glances.

None of them answered.

Their summoner had fled.

The strongest among them—the Spirit Ruler of Chaos—had abandoned the battlefield without even attempting a single attack, taking Isabella with her.

Now only the six of them remained, standing before Victor and Diana.

Victor’s handsome face was clouded with unmistakable irritation, his golden eyes burning with disappointment.

Beside him, Diana stood quietly in her black-and-red gown, her crimson eyes calm as always. A faint, gentle smile rested on her lips as she observed both Victor and the uneasy Spirit Rulers.

The contrast between the two was striking.

One radiated growing frustration.

The other remained serenely composed.

Victor slowly exhaled before speaking again, unable to suppress his irritation any longer.

"Did you people just come here to waste my time?"

He spread his hands in disbelief.

"You raised my hopes up and then nothing! What the f*ck was this?!"

His voice grew sharper with every sentence.

"You came to me blocking my way, and then Isabella says some bllsht about being the Lion of Skyfall."

He pointed toward the direction where Isabella had disappeared.

"Then she summons you useless pieces of trash!"

His golden eyes swept across the six Spirit Rulers.

"You guys did nothing."

"You were summoned and were tasked to fight me, but here you are... cowering!"

The battlefield became deathly quiet.

Not one of the Spirit Rulers tried to argue.

Not because they lacked pride...

But because they couldn’t find any words to defend themselves.

Everything Victor had said was true.

They had challenged him.

They had prepared an elaborate summoning.

They had even brought forth the legendary seventh Spirit.

And yet...

The battle had ended before it had truly begun.

...

Diana blinked once in mild surprise.

She had expected Victor to be disappointed.

She simply hadn’t expected the disappointment to run this deep.

After all, battle was woven into the very essence of his existence.

Every incarnation that had become part of his soul carried the same unyielding desire—to challenge powerful opponents and surpass impossible odds.

For Victor, a worthy battle was more than entertainment.

It was fulfillment.

He had finally believed he had found one...

Only to have it disappear in front of him.

Looking at him now, Diana could understand his frustration.

Even so...

She had never seen him this irritated before.

Victor ran a hand through his black hair before continuing.

"If that wasn’t bad enough..."

"Isabella summoned that thing!"

His expression twisted between disbelief and annoyance.

"She actually summoned a being that’s supposed to be considered a Demi-God!"

His voice rose again.

"Her entrance was so exaggerated."

"Her speeches were extremely arrogant."

He recalled the Chaos Spirit’s dramatic arrival.

"The Spirit Ruler of Chaos actually made me feel a chill for a second."

A brief smile appeared...

Only to disappear instantly.

"But then..."

"As my excitement reached a new peak..."

"What did she do?!"

He clenched his fists.

"She f*cking fled from battle!"

Boom!

The air itself seemed to tremble.

An overwhelming killing intent erupted from Victor like a tidal wave.

It wasn’t directed toward anyone in particular.

It was simply the natural result of his overflowing frustration.

The surrounding atmosphere instantly turned heavy.

The six Spirit Rulers stiffened.

Their inherited memories awakened all at once.

That pressure...

That suffocating bloodlust...

They had experienced it before.

Not personally...

But through the memories passed down from countless generations.

Ancient scenes flashed through their minds.

A lone human standing against impossible enemies.

Heavens trembling.

Gods retreating.

An existence who had earned fear rather than worship.

At that moment...

Everything finally made sense.

They now understood why the Spirit Ruler of Chaos had fled the instant she looked into Victor’s soul.

Among all mortals...

Only one had ever earned the unwavering trust and affection of the Goddess of Death, Eliora.

Only one human had possessed a killing intent so overwhelming that even the heavens had shuddered beneath it.

Only one mortal had forced gods themselves to retreat from his might.

The six Spirit Rulers felt dread slowly creep into every corner of their bodies.

Cold sweat rolled down several of their faces.

No one dared meet Victor’s gaze.

Victor noticed their reactions.

His jaw tightened.

A vein pulsed against his temple.

"Tch..."

He clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"So it’s the same again."

He looked at them with complete disappointment.

"Fighting you cowards in this state won’t bring me any joy."

His voice became cold.

"Tell that master of yours..."

"If you’re going to challenge me again..."

"Make sure you’re ready."

He took one final look at the trembling Spirit Rulers.

"’Cause if you people show me this kind of thing again..."

"I promise..."

"I will grant you unimaginable pain..."

"...that will make you beg for the sweet release of death."

No one answered.

The six Spirit Rulers remained frozen where they stood.

Victor merely turned away.

Without another word, he walked off.

Diana quietly followed at his side, her gentle smile never leaving her face.

Only after the two figures had completely disappeared into the distance did the Spirit Rulers finally release the breaths they had unknowingly been holding.

The crushing pressure lingering over the battlefield gradually faded.

They looked at one another in exhausted silence before silently activating their teleportation magic.

Moments later...

The six Spirit Rulers vanished, heading toward the place where Isabella had fled.
