Chapter 158 : Lack of People, Still Lack of People!
Chapter 158: Lack of People, Still Lack of People!
"Really?"
Chen Fan's expression was ecstatic.
He didn't expect Su Ruochu to take the initiative to make such a demand.
This was unlike her usual character.
Seeing the girl lowering her head shyly, her face slightly flushed, Chen Fan immediately realized.
"Are you thinking of compensating me for... that incident during the New Year?"
Su Ruochu gently grasped Chen Fan's hand, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gone back that day."
"I shouldn't have left you alone on the street."
In fact, after returning, Su Ruochu regretted it.
Although at the time, Chen Fan had casually told her to go home.
But after going back, Su Ruochu thought about it, especially from Chen Fan's perspective.
He had been waiting for this meeting for almost two weeks.
Almost every night, he counted the days, anticipating this day's arrival.
Yet, in the end, she stood him up.
If she were in his position, she would probably feel very disappointed and hurt too.
Su Ruochu gently leaned into Chen Fan's embrace.
"I'm sorry, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have left that day..."
Chen Fan smiled.
"Dear wife, what's wrong with you? I..."
Su Ruochu didn't let Chen Fan continue but covered his mouth with her hand.
"Don't say anything else. Let's go now. We'll stay in a hotel tonight."
"I'll compensate you, I'll give myself to you entirely without reservation."
Upon hearing these words, Chen Fan's expression suddenly became serious.
He gently held Su Ruochu's hands.
"Dear wife, the situation is not as serious as you think."
"And you don't need to feel sorry towards me, because I didn't take it to heart at all."
"I've said it a long time ago, love is not just about that kind of thing. Love is a process, it requires the two people's temperaments to complement each other, their souls to resonate, their hearts to be in harmony, and to be inseparable..."
Chen Fan smiled and leaned towards Su Ruochu's ear, whispering, "Of course, I admit that I really hope to go to a hotel with you tonight."
"But, I don't want it to be out of your guilty conscience."
"Such things should happen naturally when the time is ripe."
"It is a memory, a wonderful experience. So that even ten, twenty, or fifty years later, when we look back, we can still smile sweetly..."
Su Ruochu's face was flushed as she leaned against Chen Fan's embrace, like an obedient little kitten.
"But... but this is too pitiful for you."
Chen Fan looked puzzled, "What's pitiful?"
Su Ruochu gazed at Chen Fan and mumbled, "You've missed out twice already."
Chen Fan was momentarily stunned, then immediately understood what she meant.
He laughed wryly as he scratched his head.
"When you put it that way, my luck... is indeed quite terrible."
Chen Fan smiled and pinched Su Ruochu's nose.
"Since you know I'm pitiful, you'll just have to compensate me a few more times in the future."
Su Ruochu blushed, feeling a little embarrassed.
"But... I don't know how."
Chen Fan chuckled, "Really don't know? Last time when I taught you hand-in-hand how to pull radishes, didn't you do it quite well?"
Su Ruochu immediately turned a deep shade of red.
"Chen Fan! You... scoundrel!"
After saying that, she ignored him and quickly ran into the campus.
After the winter vacation, the new semester officially started.
Chen Fan also announced something to his roommates in the dorm.
He was starting a business recently, and to avoid disturbing everyone's rest, he had rented a place outside.
So he might occasionally stay outside.
The brothers all expressed their understanding and support for this.
However, Wu Di and Luo Wenjie looked at Chen Fan with suspicion.
They suspected that Chen Fan wasn't starting a business outside but had actually found a mistress.
But Luo Wenjie didn't have time to investigate this issue further.
Because the final exam results were out.
He failed three subjects and needed to take make-up exams.
There was another unlucky guy in the dorm, Sun Hao failed one subject.
The two of them could keep each other company for the make-up exams.
However, Chen Fan didn't know if he had stepped on dog poop, as he managed to pass safely.
Moreover, he just barely scraped by the passing line for almost every subject.
Each of his scores was either 60 or 61.
Chen Fan was very satisfied with these scores.
One more point would be too much, one less would be too little. This score was just right.
Luo Wenjie felt very depressed, how could Chen Fan get this when he didn't even attend classes more often than him?
Chen Fan patted Luo Wenjie's shoulder and consoled him, "Can't be helped, maybe I just have better luck."
Luo Wenjie maliciously guessed that Chen Fan must have secretly sent his butt to those professors.
Without time to care about Luo Wenjie's depression, Chen Fan had temporarily moved out and into the teachers' dormitory.
For the new semester's classes, he would still skip whenever he could, and for those he couldn't skip, he would have the class monitor Wu Di help him find a way.
During this period, Chen Fan was busy with barely any time to spare.
The construction site had entered a critical stage, and Chen Fan couldn't let Ding Dian handle everything alone, so he had to go to the site every day to make an appearance.
Ding Dian was very smart and had someone clean up and repaint those few office rooms in advance.
She even had a room repainted in the neighboring haunted building that wasn't renovated yet, for Feng Pojun to use as a dormitory.
The job recruitment notices had been posted, and every day there would be quite a few people calling or coming in person to inquire.
On the 25th day of the first lunar month, Chen Fan organized an interview session.
Having no one available by his side, he could only call Ding Dian and Feng Pojun to fill the numbers.
The three of them sat in the office, calling the interviewees in one by one.
Chen Fan had instructed them in advance: he would make the general decisions, Ding Dian would interview the female employees and also help interview the management personnel.
As for Feng Pojun, Chen Fan told him to write down the names of anyone with a decent physique, as they could be hired as employees or security guards later.
In the first interview session, over forty people came. Chen Fan eventually circled and kept over twenty of them.
In the second session, over fifty people came, and Chen Fan kept over thirty of them.
He was hiring service staff, so he didn't have too many requirements for education or abilities.
Chen Fan's focus when judging people was simple, they had to have a good personality and be obedient.
Of course, for the female employees, there was an additional requirement, their looks had to be at least passable.
Through these two interview sessions, Chen Fan basically filled up the initial staff positions for the shooting experience hall.
What was lacking next were professional coaches. The badminton hall was fine, but places like the shooting range and tennis court needed professional coaches.
And of course, the most important thing was the lack of management personnel.
Ding Dian told Chen Fan, for this kind of specialized talent, unless you poach from other venues, it would be like waiting for dog poop to fall from the sky if you expected them to come and apply on their own.
Chen Fan smiled, "Why do I feel like you're more anxious than me about this?"
"Don't worry, if we can't hire coaches, we can just open part of the venues first."
"As for the management level, if we really can't find anyone, then we'll do internal recruitment and discover talents from the employees we've hired."
Ding Dian was speechless, "Why do I feel like this is just playing around?"
Chen Fan looked up at the sky and gave a wry smile.
"No choice, I really lack people here."
He turned to look at Ding Dian.
"Why don't you come and work for me? I'll give you a high salary."
Ding Dian laughed.
"Me? Work for you?"
"How can I say it, I'm a returned overseas talent, I have my own design studio, and you want me to not be a good boss but run to your ragtag operation and be an employee?"
Chen Fan waved his hand, "Not an employee. I'll let you be in management."
"That still won't work."
Ding Dian muttered, "The way you're preparing this, it's like you're just messing around. Who knows how long before you go bankrupt and shut down, then where would I cry?"
It was only because she had known Chen Fan for a long time that Ding Dian dared to joke around like this.
If it were another boss hearing these words even before opening, they would have flipped out long ago.
Chen Fan didn't get angry, but instead smiled and pointed at her.
"Why don't we make a bet?"
"What bet?"
