Chapter 116: Growth
Back at the Inn, Li Chen, the guy who escaped from the statue, was devouring the food as if he had been hungry for eternity.
"Bring more…" he spoke while trying to chew the food in his mouth. His mouth was stuffed full of food, making it almost impossible for a normal person to get it down his stomach.
"Um… what is this thing?" He took a bite of the exotic meat that this inn can offer, and stuffed the entire piece into his mouth in one go.
He didn't even waste his time on chewing the food, which almost caused him to choke, but none of it could stop him from eating more.
"Where are you from?" Chen Yi asked the white fox that was sitting beside Li Chen, and she was sitting gracefully on her seat, unlike the barbarian style of Li Chen; she was eating her meal with elegance. Despite being a white fox, she was acting more like a human than the person beside her, who was stuffing everything into his mouth, without even looking at the dishes.
After a while, they were finally done having the meal. In the meantime, Chen Yi had been sitting awkwardly, because all his questions had been completely ignored.
"You know, people shouldn't talk while eating." The white fox suddenly opened her mouth; her voice was quite melodic, as she rubbed her head with her paws.
Beside her, Li Chen was also reclining on his seat with a bloated belly. "Um~ the food was better than I expected."
Burp~
Chen Yi looked at Li Chen's satisfied expression, finding it hard to believe how that little stomach could fit that much food.
Fei'er was also watching these new guests with a slight wary look in her eyes. She was hiding behind Chen Yi, her eyes darting between the white fox and Li Chen.
Li Chen patted his stomach and stood up from his seat. First to walk out of the Inn without even acknowledging anyone present there.
The white fox quickly stood up, following behind him, not even giving Chen Yi a single glance; he was really sceptical of this entire situation. The way everything went here wasn't something he had thought of.
There was no question or answer; they simply stood after eating their fill, treating him like the air. Chen Yi, for some reason, didn't feel like going behind them. As if his body and thoughts were telling him to forget everything that had happened.
Just as he got this thought in his head, a smile appeared on the lady's face.
In front of that lady sat a man hiding his face under the silver mask, whose fists were clenched as he stared at the lady's smile hidden under a translucent white veil.
"Hey, why are two of you being so serious? I real fun, still haven't begun." A young-haired young man laughingly, while patting the silver-haired man's shoulder, who sat there with a deadpan expression.
His eyes stared at the giant mirror placed in the middle of the table, where they were able to see Chen Yi and LI Chen's first interaction clearly. But his eyes were filled with hatred for Chen Yi. Unlike others, who were enjoying this show.
"This Li Chen sure is interesting. Where did you get him from?" The lady asked the silver masked man, her voice was filled with mockery.
The silver masked man remained silent and said nothing, and simply reclined back on his chair.
…
After Li Chen and that fox left, Chen Yi was lost for a while, not understanding why he was getting this strange feeling in his heart. His heart beat agitated, making his breathing distorted.
"Master, are you sick?" The snake girl supported Chen Yi's body as they walked out of the inn. She was his loyal servant. They walked out of the inn, heading towards their carriage, ready to continue their journey.
Both of them sat in the carriage, and their journey finally began once again. With Chen Yi clutching his heart while lying there, the carriage continued moving.
The snake girl was getting worried about his sudden worsening condition, not knowing what to do. All she could do was stay by his side and worry for him, which couldn't really save him.
Huff~ huff~
Chen Yi's entire body was covered in sweat. But the Heavenly Demon was to his place in his soul sea, like he had never been scared away by anyone at all. Though it was there, it didn't change anything, as Chen Yi felt his head was getting heavier.
"Am I going again? Wtf!" Chen Yi cursed while clutching his heart, his eyes turning to the Fei'er. At this moment, he really wasn't sure of his survival. So, before dying, leaving something for this girl was something he felt like doing. He touched her forehead with his finger, planning to give a bit of his celestial Qi.
"Um," Fei'er didn't avoid his fingers, but wasn't sure what he was trying to do.
Chen Yi simply let a small drop of celestial Qi flow into her body. This was his gift for her to follow him on this journey to the southern port.
He didn't want her to get captured or killed by others. After all, she might be a hundred-year-old demon, but the way she had been acting and trying to seduce him was like a youngling. She lacked the charm of a mature woman, sadly, or he would definitely love to have some fun with her.
After he had transferred a drop of his Celestial Qi. He simply put down his fingers, waiting for his slow death. He was able to feel his death coming near, and he was ready to go into another cycle of life.
Just when he began closing his eyes, he felt the changes in the spiritual Qi in the surroundings. The snake girl sat there, as her tail was currently glowing with the silver ruins, causing strange changes in her body.
Her silver trail was growing in size, as more intricate ruins began to appear on her tail, and she was also growing in her human body. The white robe she was wearing clearly highlighted changes in her body. Her chest began to protrude, her hair growing longer, as she was trying to digest his Celestial Qi, which, in practicality, shouldn't have been happening.
Normally, that Celestial Qi should have stayed in her body, which should have provided her with the energy to live forever, with continuous growth for millions of years.
Yet, she was able to digest his celestial Qi, the most powerful Qi in the cosmos. A young demon was digesting the Celestial Qi; it was unheard of in the entire history of the cosmos; there was no one below Saint who could have digested the celestial Qi, even if it was just a single drop.
Soon her body was completely covered in a layer of blinding white light. Chen Yi was looking at her glowing figure in a daze. While watching her evolve, he almost forgot about his increasing heartbeat. His body was nearing its limit, while she was breaking through her limits.
Once she was completely wrapped in that white light, she turned into a ray of light entering straight into his spiritual sea, where that Heavenly Demon was sitting like a statue. Her body had turned into a giant spiral made of white light, as it wrapped itself around the Heavenly Demon, in his soul sea.
Her giant fang made of light sank straight into one of the skulls of the Heavenly Demon's. Forcing it to open, his golden eyes. As his six arms began ripping that serpentine body of hers, easily.
All the aggression and power she showed off turned into despair in a second, as Heavenly Demon opened his eyes. She was completely helpless under the grasp of the Heavenly Demon. She didn't have a way to escape or counter its anger.
But suddenly, as she was about to be ripped apart by the Heavenly Demon, a lot of Celestial Qi began to gather around the Heavenly Demon, forcing it to stop. And the light serpent quickly used that chance to get away from its grasp.
Chen Yi had done that to help Fei'er out, but with the use of Celestial Qi, his heart finally lost control, as it ruptured inside his body.
…
In the Central Continent, a place that even gods couldn't find.
A young man was lying on the riverside; his clothes were soaked in river water.
"Master, wake up… can you hear me? Master… Wake up…"
"Huh…" Chen Yi opened his eyes in the new body, but there was a voice in his head calling for him.
After the initial dizziness passed away, Chen Yi found the source of that voice was his spiritual sea. This his reincarnation wasn't just him, but Fei'er, who had turned into the light serpent and entered his spiritual sea had also came with him.
