Chapter 619 - 198: Fighting the Celestial Spirit, a Clash of Fists and Swords
The prodigies: "..."
This wasn’t the first time something like this had happened.
A glint of excitement appeared in Nan Huang’s eyes. ’Shen Bai is incredibly powerful. If we can get him to join the Celestial Pride Salvation Society, he’ll be a huge asset. I have to report this to my superiors and see if we can recruit him.’
The thought took root in Nan Huang’s mind like a great tree.
Shen Bai descended from the sky and gazed out at the vast grassland. "Let’s go," he said. "We’ll keep exploring. There’s still much to see in this Celestial Pride Hall."
This snapped everyone back to their senses.
They all looked at Shen Bai with deeply complicated expressions.
But they didn’t say anything more, simply falling in line behind him.
Zhou Qing piped up, "Lao Shen, with your level of strength, I don’t think I could ever catch up, even if I gave it my all. What in the world have you been eating to get so strong?"
Ouyang Sword sighed. "We should be used to Brother Shen’s exploits by now."
Only Qin Shuang, ever the optimist, said, "The stronger Shen Bai is, the better! I see no problem with it at all."
Chatting amongst themselves, the group began to venture deeper into the grassland.
...
「Meanwhile, in the outside world.」
In a hidden location.
Dozens of Void Realm masters were gathered around a voluptuous woman.
Suddenly, the woman’s eyes flew open, and a trickle of blood escaped her lips.
"My daughter, you died such a miserable death... Shen Bai, I will have your life for this!"
Zhu Xueshuang gritted her teeth, her expression a mask of venomous rage.
She had suffered a terrifying backlash and was now injured.
A man stepped forward. "My Lady, are you all right?"
Zhu Xueshuang took a few deep breaths, suppressing the rage in her heart. "I need you to investigate someone," she said, her voice as calm as she could make it. "His name is Wang Tianxing."
The man was taken aback, not understanding why she wanted him to investigate this person.
Zhu Xueshuang wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth and said slowly, "This Shen Bai must be eliminated. During my confrontation with him, he mentioned Wang Tianxing multiple times. This person must be a peerless prodigy. Perhaps through him, we can find Shen Bai’s Weakness."
Hearing this, the man quickly complied. "My Lady, should we retreat for now?"
Zhu Xueshuang considered this for a moment. "Retreat for now," she said. "When I return, I will petition my superiors. I want to kill Shen Bai with my own hands."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
They did not linger. They turned, left the dense forest, and vanished.
...
Shen Bai paid no mind to the events of the outside world; he didn’t even give Zhu Xueshuang a second thought.
He had already led the group halfway across the grassland and had now stopped at the edge of a great chasm.
Below them was a bottomless abyss. The HOWL of the wind echoed up from the chasm, sharp enough to hurt their ears, like the slicing of a blade.
In addition to the fierce wind, a faint, chilly aura drifted up from the depths of the abyss.
Even though they were all Cultivators, this chilly aura made them shiver, a cold seeping deep into their bones.
While Shen Bai was still observing the cliff’s edge, Nan Huang glanced around before pulling a Copper Compass from his robes, preparing to perform a Calculation.
Seeing this, Ouyang Sword’s mouth twitched. "Brother Nan, maybe you shouldn’t. The last time you used that, you led us right into a deathtrap."
It was Nan Huang and his Copper Compass that had led them to those puppets not long ago.
And at the time, Nan Huang had looked so certain, claiming it was a path of great fortune. In the end, it nearly got them all killed.
Hearing this, Nan Huang looked a little embarrassed and scratched his head. "But it turned out to be a great fortune in the end, didn’t it? We didn’t lose anyone. That just proves my divination was perfectly fine."
Divination Skill was one of the Hundred Truths Techniques.
Nan Huang felt that even though it was Shen Bai who had saved the day, his divination had at least come true in the end.
Zhou Qing stepped forward and patted Nan Huang’s shoulder. "Brother Nan, why don’t you take a break? Let Lao Shen give it a try."
Qin Shuang said nothing. She stayed right by Shen Bai’s side, constantly fussing over him and checking him for injuries.
She had been doing this the entire way.
She was worried he had sustained some hidden injury during his fight with Zhu Xueshuang, so she kept a constant watch over him.
Shen Bai found it rather exasperating.
But he couldn’t bring himself to openly refuse her concern, so he just let her be.
Hearing their exchange, Nan Huang looked at Shen Bai in surprise. "Lord Shen knows the art of Calculation as well?"
Shen Bai nodded slightly.
Nearby, one of the prodigies from the Great Zhou Country whispered, "Well, he is our Great Zhou Country’s Nine Extremes Young Master. It’s only natural for him to have a wide variety of skills. One more ability isn’t surprising at all."
Someone immediately chimed in, "Does that mean he’ll be the Ten Extremes Young Master from now on?"
"Not just Ten Extremes."
The prodigy who had spoken first looked thoughtful. "We probably don’t even know how many ’Extremes’ he really has, but calling him the Ten Extremes Young Master can’t be wrong."
Although the two of them were whispering, everyone present was a Cultivator and could hear them perfectly.
Some faces showed astonishment, while others showed awe and envy.
Shen Bai was the only one whose face darkened.
He scanned the crowd and spoke slowly. "Could you all do me a favor?"
Many of the prodigies were taken aback, their faces filled with confusion.
Here, Shen Bai alone was a match for all of them combined.
They had no idea how they could possibly help him.
As everyone watched in confusion, Shen Bai’s tone became deadly serious.
"Could you all please help me find out who was the very first person to call me by that title?"
"Once you find out, there will be a generous reward. I simply must give the person who came up with that title... a little ’reward’."
A faint killing intent began to swirl around him.
